Anyone got any recommendations for a recovery drink or supplement for after a grueling singles match?
I tried Nuun recovery tablets but I don’t think it’s very good….

and Maurten drink mixes and recovery is the BEST in the market today,, its used by top athletes and they all swear by it. but its bit pricy but its worth every penny

Yep. Also all natural which is important to me. I've basically stopped drinking anything artificial and Gatorade was the toughest one to drop
Urine is also all natural.

Milk is homogenized and pasteurized. Depending on what type of milk you select, it may have some or all fat removed. Likely also has fortifiers and preservatives.

NA beer is surprisingly good for recovery and the selection has come a long way since the days of O’Douls being the only option.

ive used most electrolytes drinks, including LMNT +liquid iv, nothing comes close to Voli hydration, has far better ingrediants such as himalayan pink salt and irsh sea moss + aquamin.

I really do recommend the Pali pina colada flavour - honestly it tastes identicall to one, no powdery taste, not biter, not too sweet, mixes extreamly well + i also add 1 of these tablet

however do eat a good meal befroe + after your match - preferably a mixture of good clean protein (not a protein supplement) with veg, you cant beat a good diet everyday, electrolyte drinks are really to replace your salt levels which have been lost while playing,,,, your diet is everthing else = really is 95% of your energy and recovery.

"Natural" is overrated, cobra venom is natural too.
I use a similar line with my wife who assigns too much value to products advertising themselves as “all-natural“ as if that means it is automatically good for you. I tell her that all poisons used to kill people before the Industrial Revolution were all natural also.

If I don’t have the opportunity to head home and eat a good meal, I will always pack a protein drink like Muscle Milk or the Costco pure protein boxes, and some sort of sweet carb like a donut or apple fritter. Getting that protein into my body right away cuts down on the day-after soreness and lets me train hard on consecutive days.

Do tell, I'm fascinated by all this new info

Not drinking homogenized milk btw

SiS REGO does the trick. It has carbs, protein and electrolytes. It's mixed into 500ml of water so you get your liquid in too...

Or you know...beer. :)

LMNT or Promix salt/electrolyte mixes.

You need WAY more salt than Nuun will have....not sure if those have sugar or not but you want to avoid that. I like the Promix because it's pink Himalayan salt and munk fruit instead of Stevia but they're both really good.

"Whole" so like 3-3.5.%
I have often seen low-fat (1%) choc milk recommended as a recovery drink. As I’ve gotten older (60s/70s) I have gone away from whole and back to low-fat dairy options.

As we age, it is more difficult to utilize protein effectively / efficiently. In addition, I donate plasma once or twice a week which significantly lowers my blood protein level. So I have to eat a lot more protein (with digestive enzymes) than I did in my 50s (and earlier) to keep up my blood protein level.

This has resulted in more calories ingested and unwanted weight gain. So I need to opt for leaner (lower cal) protein sources

I understand. I always opt for the higher fat option. Hope that doesn't change but I get it.

I was brought up on Borden’s whole milk which was roughly equivalent to today’s extra rich (4.2%) milk.

At some point in the 1980s, I switched over to reduced fat (2%) quite often. But still drank whole (3.5%) some of the time. In the mid 90s, 1% (lowfat) milk came out and I switched over to that. Drank that for much of my 40s. But at some point in my 50s, I went back to whole milk

However, from my mid-60s owward, I’ve gone back to 1% milk again — to help keep the caloric intake down.

4.2%? That sounds amazing. I'm gonna go look around

I don't get cereal very often anymore but when I do, I'll also get heavy cream to throw on top and mix with the whole milk. Really good on plainer, non-fruit cereals. So like rice krispies, Frosted Flakes.

Would also recommend Creatine, thorne makes a really good product as well as a carbohydrate recovery like 1st phorm Ignition.
