Reducing Grip Size

Currently have PK 5G with 4 1/2 grip. I would like to have 4 3/8 grip. Is it possible to sand the bevels on the handle to reduce the grip one size?

I have found the Tourn Pro Thin Replacement grip to be a very nice grip and to reduce the size from 4 3/8 to close to 4 1/4. I base that on feel and haven't tried to measure it. I found that while the Kimony leather grip did the same thing it felt to hard and thin and did not absorb any vibration even with a Tourna grip over it. Some may like that but not for me. The Tourna Pro Thin is my favorite replacement grip - but I would use it where I wanted or needed to reduce the grip size. Hope that helps.

Babolat Skin Feel replacement grip. I have put that to make my prestige from 1/2 to 3/8. Not a big fan of shaving the bevels or compromising the raw materials of the racket.

If your PK has the yellow molded handle, sanding is very difficult to do well. Very easy to end up with a crappy feeling handle and your racquet is wrecked.

If you get desperate and absolutely have to do it, check the dimensions of the graphite shaft under the foam handle first to see if you will be able to put some pallets on it after you wreck it trying to sand it!

It just might be better to sell it and get one in your grip size. Going up or down a grip size without messing with weight and balance is difficult, and it never feels quite right.
