Regular Duty or Extra Duty Tennis Balls

Extra duty is formulated for cement, Regular duty for clay. (One has fibers that don't fluff easily, one has fibers engineered not to adhere to clay easily).

I prefer regular duty balls for both hardcourts and claycourts. I feel that heavy duty felt fluffs up and slows down the game too much.

agree, I always use re.duty balls. always have I go back to the days when there weren't heavy duty balls. I prefer balls that are lively out of the can.

Alright I agree because I've been using Heavy Duty Balls lately outdoors and they tend to fluff up and slow down the game. The reason why I asked this question to begin with is because I was deciding on going with the regular duty or extra duty balls for outdoor play and now I know the issue I have had with Heavy Duty balls were the extra felt that made the ball fluff up more which slowed the game down.

Also I hear Wilson Balls play faster then Penn balls which could give all courters and serve and volley players a slight advantage. I have tested both Wilson and Penn and I have noticed Wilson Balls play considerably quicker especially indoors.

I feel that Penn balls fresh out of the can are faster and lighter. While Wilson balls feel a big harder and heavier but easier to control. I like Wilson balls better as Penn balls die after 5-6 games.

so no one here use extra duty ball? cause i was planning in get the wilson us open extra duty, or the dunlop gp.

I use them if Im stuck with them. But I seem to prefer the regular duty ones as well.

When I keep them for my ball hopper, I always noticed that the ProPenn's or Wilson's with the Red Writing on them always seem to remain more lively then the ones with the black writing on them (probably because they collect more dirt)
