Remember Laura Robson? I barely do.

Here you go, since somehow you can't notice the first thing that comes up when you do a google search.

Literally all I can remember about Robson is that she called a bunch of her fellow female junior British players sluts.
Her 2 other claims to fame are partnering Andy Murray to a silver medal in the mixed doubles at the 2012 Olympics and ending Kim Clijsters' career by beating her in her last professional match in the first round of 2012 US Open.

Sadly it looks more and more like Robson is done. She might come back and have a few good days, but I don't see her getting as high as she was before. And it's worth remembering she wasn't that high to begin with. Strong left arm but overall game was never tough enough. A poor man's Lisicki.

she won junior Wimbledon 8yrs ago when she was 14. that was her career high point.

laura is taking the cautious approach with her comeback..sounds sensible, hope she makes it back.

3 years is a long time...

Great Britain's Laura Robson beat Moroccan Ghita Benhadi at the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat to record a first WTA tour victory since 2013.

The 22-year-old had endured a frustrating comeback from wrist surgery two years ago, winning just three matches all year in qualifying rounds.

However, Robson returned to form in the main draw on the clay against the local 18-year-old wild card, producing six service breaks as she came through 6-1, 6-1 in 51 minutes and will next meet Hungarian Timea Babos, the fifth seed, in round two.

Former British No.1 Robson is now down to 426 in the world following her injury lay-off, but under the protected WTA ranking of 58 has secured automatic entry into next month's French Open at Roland Garros.

She was very match rusty against Babos this week.
A few flashes of her old self.
She had had to rework her previously very wristy forehand.
I hope it goes well for her.

Protected ranking gives you 8 matches grace to get your ranking up. If you can't in that time, it's a tough long road back

I'd like to meet some of these tennis girls that go with every guy. Where are they?! I need names!

I must've missed this in February. Hilarious. So is the rest of the thread for that matter. :)

Laura drew Vika in Madrid just this week. Her forehand was solid and a weapon, movement still needs work, but overall she shredded the ball so wrist must be fine. Lost a respectful 4-6 set 1 to the best player on tour right now, then a lopsided set because she was gassed. Got to work on conditioning, but hanging for awhile with Vika shows upside!

Though I won't argue Laura is very hawt... I think a new hottness is on the rise: Louisa Chirico

So no one looks at faces anymore? Granted there are some hot athletic bodies on tour...but this girl, Aga, Halep, faces average "cute" at best. The hotness still belongs to the Genie, Masha, Ana's, Vitalia's of the world! in my not often humble opinion that is;)

OMG,, what is going on with Laura Robson.... she is playing in Challengers this week in California......................is she on Comeback trail ?? she is not seeded in the Challengers......................
She is still struggling to recover form after her long layoff due to her wrist injury. Her protected ranking has now gone so she no longer has automatic entry into WTA events. She needs to start rebuilding her ranking so I guess that's why she is playing Challengers to try and gain some ranking points.

Yeah, between her and Heather Watson the Brits have had a tough time of it. Watson was never the same after contracting glandular fever. She was steadily climbing but never got it going again.
Hope to see Laura back soon.

I do remember Laura, it's a real shame for her that she just can't seem to stay healthy for any length of time. In 2012 and 13 it looked like she might be going places. There's never a good time for injury to strike, but at least players like Nadal and Del Potro already had trophies on the board, including Grand Slams. Laura just has an Olympic silver to her name. But she's still only 22 so time is still on her side.

Bumping this thread for the following reasons:

1. Genuine interest in Laura's comeback
2. Want to know how @Nostradamus goes with the wedding proposal
3. Update on whether Genie and Laura ended up becoming friends again (maybe rough patches in their respective careers could be a catalyst for a reunion).

I saw some her R1 match. Bit of nerves at the end but won fairly easy. Laura is still supposed to play R2 tonight. I'll be there !

I expect a modest sized crowd because a lot of people left after the second rain delay. And if they do start up there are quite a few matches to choose from.

Yeah, I just got her to pose for one of those after win photos. iPhone camera to the rescue. Not a lot of people around watching. The other kid bolted after her loss like she had to make a plane a midnight plane at JFK

Well that's the problem with the WTA currently. Just look in the Odds n Ends section and you'll see exactly why woman's tennis today is a far cry from what it used to be. Don't get me wrong, I like those photos just as much as the next guy, but if they take less selfies and maybe start practicing for a change, the WTA might improve:)
