Replace my old Neos 1000

My old trusty Prince Neos 1000 has served me well over the years, but i plan to buy a small table-top and install my Wise Tension Head on it.

I am looking at Gamma X-6FC and Gamma Progression II 602 FC. Is there any major differencies between these two machines?

Has anyone here bought the drop-weight adaptor and installed the wise on a Gamma lately? I found an old thread where it was made before the adaptor had seen the first light.

Gamma is almost non excisting (spelling?) here in Sweden. Is these 2 machines good, solid options?

For what it is worth, I think the tray table (without the tool tray) will fit directly into the Neos base (i.e., without the column) and you'd have your Neos as a table top (and you'd have your column in reserve in case you ever want an upright again--what I don't know is how the Wise works with that configuration?). Otherwise, Gamma makes a great machine (and I think either of the options you cite are fine) but neither as sturdy as the Neos. Either way, I hope it works out well for you--Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean so it would look like this? I just made a quick paint-edit.

I would just add the WISE to the NEOS. You can't get much better than a NEOS + Wise for home use.

I already have my Wise on the Neos. It´s just that I want a smaller machine, a table-top, so i can string inside the house, not out in my old storage.

Will try to remove the "pole" in the middle and the tray and see how it goes.

The machines you're considering are only slightly smaller in footprint and while they're lighter than the Neos 1000, they're actually quite heavy.

If you intend to keep it inside the house at a fixed location, I'm not sure if the Neos 1500 takes up that much more space in the x-y dimension.

If you intend to put the machine away each time after you string, it makes sense to get a table top but still those machines aren't light... (especially if stairs are involved).

I've been really intrigued by the portable South American machines. I'm hoping that someone on TT acquires one and gives a review :) :) :)

Ooohh. I like that one. I had only seen the models with the box type base.

Someone needs to import these. I wonder what it would take?

Any idea of where you can purchase one? Tough to find in the states.

That South American machine is floating clamp, not really comparable to the Neos or the Gamma FC machines.

True... but it's more difficult to lug a Neos around....

I think floating clamps get a bum rap because so many entry machines come with crappy ones. Even though I have a Neos 1500, I still have several Stringway floating clamps (doubles and triples). While I still prefer the fixed clamps on my 1500, The stringway floating clamps are way better than the fixed clamps on the inexpensive entry machines from Gamma/Alpha/Eagnas... (I should know... I've had them all)....

Thanks for all feedback guys. I actually asked some sellers in South America about 2 years ago how much these fast string machines are and they are actually pretty expensive. Specially when you have to consider i have to pay around 250-300 $ shipping (220 €) + 25 % VAT when arriving into Sweden.

This machine http://www.tmsmaquinaencordoar.com.br/tms-progressive-06-mesa-maquina-de-encordoar-portatil-p51 costed around 550-600 US$ plus shipping and VAT and in the end that would be 1050-1100 $ .. Way to much. Unfortunately. The machine is very very fast though. I remember some Argentinian WTA player, Paula O, used to string her own racquets with this or a similar machine

^^^^^^^
Buying a couple of more racquets for road trips would be much cheaper. ;)

I have 29 frames at home at the moment so i´m all set. It´s more that i want a easy convenient stringer inside the house that i can keep in the closet when it´s not in use.

I have found the Premium Stringer 3600 here in Europe and it seems to be good, solid quality. Think i will try it

EDIT: Just ordered the 3600 and an adapter so it will be a 360 turntable machine

It will look like this (photo from a badminton-forum)

I put wheels on my Neos and just roll it everywhere in the house. there is a thread on here somewhere about it. very simple to do. I put larger rubberized casters on mine and it will roll over door jams easy. just a thought
