replacement grip that adds size?

hello everyone, I usually use L2 sleeves, with a super karakal Pu grip, and a 0.5mm overgrip, there was an order error, and it's too complicated to ship and everything to change the L1 that I received.

my shops no longer have a siz-up to go from L1 to L2, I saw that on wilson clash it was a wilson pro performance grip, 1.7mm, is that going to a thicker grip ( 2.1 to 2.3mm) I could go up a size and go to L2?

There are thicker replacement grips and thicker overgrips. I think every brand sells many different thicknesses. The packaging of the grip usually has the thickness on it. Add up 0.5 for your usual overgrip with the thickness of your karakal grip, then add 0.5. Take that number and buy a grip and overgrip that equals that number.

Building up the handle with over wraps make the grip uneven because of the overlapping and too soft for my liking. You end up with a round mushy grip. It’s hard to get away from round off the bevels whether you use build of sleeves, thicker grips, etc… But I would buy a roll of hockey tape, remove the old grip and measure the bare pallet with a cloth tape measure. Wrap layers of opposite wound hockey tape around the pall until the size increases by 1/8”. Try to keep overlapping the edges of the hockey grip if you can. You can also add more or less hockey tape around the butt cap to create a larger or smaller butt cap to what you like. Once you have the pallet build up to what you like wrap a new grip over the hockey tape.

If you want a more rectangular or square shaped pallet you can begin by adding strips of hockey tape long the top / bottom or left / right bevels. You can angle the pallet adding more tape on the bottom. Possibilities are endless. Play around with it until you find something that you like.

Yes, the possibilities are endless.

You can use any materials to the bare pallet.

Hockey tape, dry wall tape, or even "pla plate" can be used.

If you want to try thicker grip, its also possible. There are grip that have 2.1-2.4 mm thickness.

Just FYI racket layer of hockey tape adds 1/16” to pallet and about 5.5 g. 2 layers adds 1/8” or 11 g. 2 layers and a Tecnifibre Pro Contact 0.6 mm overwrap adds 16.5 g. 2 layers of hockey adds about the same size as a full sleeve with only 60% of the weight.

EDIT: Here is what 2 layers of hockey tape, wound in opposite directions, and no overlap looks like.

No more build up sleeves, and heat guns for me. The hockey tape gives you a good base for grips and overwraps and stays on well.
