Respect between Rafa And Roger

https://mobile.twitter.com/rogerfederer/status/874020937322168320

Federer congratulates Rafa on La Decima, perhaps us Federer and Nadal fans should stop arguing who is the best and appreciate them both for the legends they are

I like Roger and was happy for him he got his 18th. I said I would be happy with either of them winning AO. Of course I wanted Rafa to win but it was cool to see Roger win again. Its his fans that always accuse Rafa of faking injuries after losses that bother me. And saying he misses tournaments because he is embarrassed he lost(2009 soderling and then missing wimbledon) and then rooting against Rafa no matter who he is playing. Some of you Fed fans aren't bad. Some are salty. lol

For me Nadal is already the second best player of all time by the way, but it's difficult to compare him to a player from another era like Laver.

Part of me wonders if Nike asked him to tweet this. Kind of like they did with Kobe Bryant and all the nike players for #mamba day when he was retiring.

I genuinely don't think so, I mean you look at when Rafa invited Roger to open his academy with him, Roger could have said no, and Rafa could have not invited him at all, I honestly think they are friends that have enormous respect for each other. Looking back at the Australian open 4th set where Rafa hit an insane winner and I saw Roger tapping his racquet to applaud, in the entirety of their head to head I've never seen Roger applaud a Nadal shot. When they first started playing I imagine they thought to themselves as they played in a final together " oh no not this guy again" but I think they are happy for one another's successes now

Yes I think you are probably right. The #Justdoit part of the tweet is the only thing that made me question it.

I think when Murray became world number 1 and won Wimbledon I believe Roger congratulated him on those as well, I don't think Federer is hell bent on winning everything like he was in his earlier days and appreciates other players more now

Funny how I don't recall him tweeting to congratulate Djokovic when he achieved something monumental last year.

roger has said in the past he is closest to nadal out of the big 4, or w/e. I think he has friends he is much closer to, haas, stan, other swiss members and I'm sure he was relatively chill with roddick, safin, hewitt as they were like the original crew or w/e but he did say that he has shared so much with nadal and many of his pivotal memories include him. he also knows his family pretty well and I think both the federers and nadals get along well and have gone to dinners, or atleast somewhere I think roger mentioned it.

Yeah but you can bet your bottom dollar if Novak had won the final we wouldn't have heard a peep from him.

*shrugs* i really dont think fed hates or has a grudge against novak the way the some think he does. i dont recall fed tweeting every time nadal won a slam, but I'm sure he knew the importance of la decima esecially since this year has been kind of the fedal year.

plus neither novak nor murray tweeted so you know different relationships.

I think fed def likes nadal better than djoker. And same for Nadal with Fed.

I may have said differently but I'm actually happy Rafa won number 10. The guy played incredible tennis and you could see how much it means to him and how much he loves the sport.

The Fed fan in me wanted Wawrinka to win for the YE#1 prospects but the tennis fan is happy for Rafa to take it.

Now, onto Wimbledon.
