Restring Zero. New string release.

Hi guys! I can’t really say anything because they sponsor me but I’m going to drop this discount code for you guys. “Taka10” for 10% off. I switched from Rpm blast to zero. I restring before every practice and match so I can’t say anything at all to try and convince you guys to switch but I haven’t had any issues switching from Rpm to zero. It reminds me of hyper g in a sense that it’s deader feeling and great spin but I thought zeros more comfortable and predictable. Don’t get me wrong, I love the zero strings and the color of it. I do earn a small commission at no extra cost to you guys but I love what they’re doing for tennis and the environment. Hope you guys enjoy
Update: I've tried but code didn't work this morning. I talked with the team at ReString so the discount code should work now!!!

@HypnoticLasagna I'm in complete agreement with you in
Great. What are they actually doing for tennis and the environment?
I'm in complete agreement with you in this part.
I really like Stringlab Italia sending cardboard packages of strings.
Isospeed with the Second Service. Don't know if the procedure is good for the environment, but recycling PET bottles was something noone else has done (I think).
I'm an MSc Geologist and when I hear environmental-friendly project, I don't take anyone's word for granted.

i hear what both of you say. I’m not their spokesperson nor a geologist but as someone who restrings a lot, I am conscious of the amount of plastic, etc. from other string brands I’ve used in the past. Restring is saying they’re doing packaging responsibly so it at least gives me a peace of mind.

There are more than a few companies using recycled paper as packaging. Zero, as a string, does nothing for the environment, except for the packaging. As has been well reported, donating to "environmental" causes has its own problems. Being available in sets only, there is more wastage. In my opinion, it's a run of the mill co-poly string.
IsoSpeed 2nd serve is just PET downcycling, so there's just an added cycle of use, and thus still ends up in the landfill.
Velociti Catalyst is the only string claimed to be fully biodegradable in 3 to 5 years, but only in a landfill, whereas all other synthetic strings don't break down that easily, average from 20-50 years depending on who you ask. So maybe not 100x faster but 10x isn't that bad either!

Seems like most feedback, inlcuding mine, has been consistent:

+ access to top-spin, slices, durability, snapback effect, fast and clean swings
- low power, stiff, small sweetspot, flat hitting, not for casual hitting

While a noble cause, I just can't see it as worthwhile. I've been playing tennis for 30 years and if I kept all the strings that I've ever used - including the packaging, I could probably stuff them down into one garbage can. Compare that to the amount of other waste I generate and its probably on like a 1 to 10,000 ratio.

"Buy this string, but use my coupon code" Always a bit skeptical from those reviews.
As you should be. Long term, I'll well aware that my channel die if I start lying for ad-money. I wish I could rely on AdSense alone, but the affiliate links are the main reason I can afford to keep buying racquets for review.

Right now, string companies have been the only partners that can generate a reliable source of income for creators. Anytime that someone offers you a coupon code, you should expect that they are also receiving money on the backend. I always make sure that I'm transparent about receiving that money so you can take what I say with a grain of salt.

Moderate-level clickbait title and thumbnail aside, it seems like TennCom liked it:

Unfortunately this specific YouTube video was half about lecturing about snapback and half or maybe less about the string itself. Lecturing about what snapback is etc could be in a separate video.
The ReString Zero itself does have some very specific attributes that both affiliates or not (like me) have all noticed: firm, very durable - especially for players of my level -, very good access to spin, some inconsistency in flat hitting in terms of depth/feel. It does these 3-4 specific things very good for longer than usual.

Not to discredit you (or to pump up Beckett), but Beckett is a much higher level player than you appear to be. As such, higher level players are more likely to value his feedback (and the likes of TennisNerd, TennisEuphoria, etc) more than yours. I still think there's a place for your racket and string reviews, as the casual 3.0-3.5 crowd may welcome your feedback. But again, different levels of tennis talent, as well as equipment experience. It sounds like you've used only a handful of rackets and strings over the last year or two since you started playing tennis. Beckett's been using various frames and setups since he played juniors.

@dr. godmode won't be able to please everyone, but keep in mind that he is a content creator. If he wanted to simply make a review, he could publish a 4 sentence paragraph. He's doing what he's doing (quite successfully I might add) to continue to attract viewership. If he starts getting 5 million views per video, then he won't need to have to coupon codes and affiliates to fund what he does.
At least he's being open about his partnerships. No one seems to rag on the GladiatorTennis even though they have partnerships with TWE!
Keep on Keeping On Beckett!
(And humble request, maybe review the FX500 Tour as there doesn't seem to be many reviews out there yet!)

That's exactly right. Well said. Whoever thinks that the level of my hitting resembles theirs, are welcome to read my feedback about the strings and the rackets I use. Everyone more advanced can just PASS.
I strongly believe I do some good to the sport of tennis, having more and more younger and older people at least giving tennis a try.
The purpose of my comment was that the review had a big part explaining what "snapback" is. I'd really like to hear more details about the string itself, like the other reviews on YouTube do.

haha yes very true! Tennis balls seem to be a way bigger issue. Plus what's with babalot still having like a huge plastic cd cartridge for string packaging?!

A good friend of mine gave me a pack to try...he raves and raves about it..he hated to give up a pack.. but wanted me to try what he says is the best string he has ever used..5.0 player for many years who uses Hyper G soft..
I will put it in my play test Shift 99 300g next string job...

Beckett is not high level...3 5 maybe 4.0 on good day...looks like he has klogs on his feet

Beckett also strikes me as about the biggest shill on the internet. I appreciate trying to make a living on YT, and embracing sponsorship, but he's #1influencer I don't trust on anything he provides a discount code for.

No hate - I still enjoy some of his videos and respect his work - but will not take his word on endorsed products.

is this string designed to be strung low tension like mid to low 40lbs just like the grapplesnake m8, or can it be strung at 57lbs?
High tension will make it feel super stiff. All reviews about it have specific things in common: low power, stiff, durable, great access to spin, arguably the best snapback, suits best spin hitters. I personally wouldn't go higher than 24kg full bed.

For a string with as much snapback as this one seems to have, what would be a good recommended tension? Do you string lower or higher to have the most benefit?

I have tried Restring Zero in my very open Wilson Steam 99s. I have tried many different strings and setups, but Restring Zero is by far the best for an open string pattern. Restring Zero is the only string that keeps the string bed straight! I am a 4.5 USTA tennis player, and I am going on my third week of playing every day, and the string continues to snapback!

Just for reference, when I use Hyper G or Hyper G soft, the strings get stuck out of place right away during my first hitting session. I play so well with my 99s, but I hated restringing so often. Restring Zero has replaced all that!

Tennis Warehouse: Please find a way to offer this incredible string! It is a game changer for me, so maybe others will feel the same way!

Support for a new product that's excellent or even very good is necessary. But strings like any other thing, are personal to a point. We all know polys lose elasticity, and then becomes stiff, and that process is somewhat how steep the tension curve drop is. Unfortunately Zero isn't what I personally consider outstanding. It does well on the tension maintenance curve, being gentler on the decline, but everything else is at best above average. I'd guess the stiffness is around HyperG 16Lg, Still, as a deader poly, stiffer poly, the premium demanded isn't justified for me. Others may feel differently.
Zero is all about the snapback and spin and time410s on his YT channel shows this string has completely unparalleled snapback it snaps back into place perfectly and so audibly. The other strings you cant even hear it

The snapback effect is indeed insane! I've got a second set and keeping for a special occasion (actually when I get better at top spin shots)!

So what's the verdict?

What tension do you recommend using for a string like Restring Zero? Is it better to go on the looser side, or does a tighter layup help with the snapback?

Personally - over 40 lbs snapback performance (of any string) has not varied for me - sweet spot, power and spin however has dropped on increase in tension. So I would start at your standard HyperG type string tension and then dial slightly back (2-3 lbs max) to recover the power.

I have 2 packs waiting but have multiple other "experiments" to perform before I get to the Zero.

I'm going straight to Zero cause so intrigued about this snapback... certainly the most interesting string I haven't tried

I don't know what time410s is, how are you measuring the additional rpm spin? My tests tend to be measured by minimally a Playsight court, which is proven method, vs say Swingvision, which is good for tactical/ball placement, but lacks precision for speed and rpm, because it depends on too many variables to be accurate with present AI technology.
It's not a bad string for me, but it's also not so high performing that I'd live with non-reel options at the present price point, from plastic wastage and price performance ratio.

I initially tried it at 55 lbs because I was coming off a softer poly and it was just way too stiff feeling when fresh. Did another go on my other racquet at 50 lbs and it was the perfect pop and crispness for me. I think lower tensions in general is the way to go.

I know this sort of comparison is tired and played out but it really feels like the first hour or so of RPM Blast except it stays that way the whole life of the string.

I kinda agree with @Sardines that it's otherwise kinda unremarkable but the longevity and playability duration really hits home with me. I like the feel of the stringbed not being locked up and it's not too plasticky or stiff-feeling compared to Solinco's offerings, and most importantly for me, just has a consistent feel that I've taken a liking to.

I'll probably switch to this one for the time being.

They don't call it restring zero for nothin'. With restring zero you need to restring zero times, cause it just keeps workin ;)

When you pull the string back with your fingers it snaps back perfectly and forcefully and makes a loud audible noise which other spin strings make no noise at all and dont snapback anywhere near as well

Why everyone calls this strings stiff?Im testing this strings at the moment and the only softer poly i tried was GW 1.22. Its only few sessions at the moment with the strings but usually i feel poly stiffness right away. Maybe its because great snapback it feels softer?Every time i tried switch to poly, i failed because of arm issues. Tier One strings was only poly which could work for me. I hope my arm gonna survive this poly in long term, because i liked playability so much.

Well I'm not sure what strings you are comparing it to. but Volkl Cyclone, V-Torque Tour, V-Square, Yonex Poly Tour Spin all "snap" back into place, and also last longer with slick round polys. But to be fair, I haven't tested the precision of the return to precision, but very sure sound isn't a function of anything but friction. Pretty sure the lower the CoF, the lower noise the "snap" makes? Again, I haven't really tested Zero on a Playsight court, because I wasn't impressed by my normal court playtest. I'm glad it works for you, but making statements based on sound will bring out the skeptics.

Shun the nonbelievers Charlie, shunnnnnn!

Kirchsbaum super smash honey at 40 euros 200 meters reel, i bought 3 of them! Thats a third of the price i was paying for the same meters of solinco confidential, and guess what, im not playing worse, i even like the more uniform and consistent feel of the rounder poly, and i have strings for a lot of time for an amazing price, i choosed confidential after trying some strings, and i realised what i really like is the poly to be as fresh as possible, so the cheapest it is the more often im going to restring too, and my racquet is not as string sensitive as others i had in the past, so i really dont feel a drop in performance between the two strings and im paying a third of the price, i dont understand how a new string brand can put that price to this string while claiming some fake green values, which they are clearly not following with their actions
