Restring Zero. New string release.

Specifically that Sync seems to stiffen things up compared to a full bed of zero, or that snapback has reduced enough to mitigate comfort benefits from Zero in a full bed.

Did Sync in a full bed today in the CX400 Tour at 55/53lbs, no issues with comfort at all.

I’ve found the Whiteouts to be quite unforgiving at high tensions with stiffer strings. Dead ALU at 49/46lbs was just as bad at the too tight Zero/Sync, comfort wise.
You’re right. Sync on hybrid seems to stiffen things up. I haven’t try hybrid Zero/Sync yet but I just tried hybrid Head Velocity 1.30 main at 48 lbs and Sync 1.20 cross at 45 lbs on a pro stock Blade 98 18x20 and it was so stiff that full bed poly definitely feels softer on this racket. Don’t know why but full bed Sync is super ok on most rackets I tried, except Babolat Pure Aero.

Time to get to the bottom of things. Are they really that good?

Whats the difference between 1.23 and 1.28 in terms of feel, spin, snapback and playability duration?

About to order a few sets :)

Will be stringing them in mains with Sync 1.25 crosses in Blade 98 V9s 16x19

1.28 will definitely feel stiffer/boardier but also a bit more stable (I believe this is due to the significant twistweight contribution from the additional mass).

Spin/snapback felt the same for both, both are a bit bitey. Similar playability duration as well; both lasted about 14 hours before finally starting to feel trampoliney, which is by far the longest I've had with any poly.

i tried this string and its got phenomenal control, and some really nice spin. i felt like it was very similar to Hyper G in Feel, kind of muted poly with ton of spin. but this thing was not arm friendly.... my wrist was huring me after just 30 min.

Do you guys feel that Hyper G is more arm friendly than this poly ??

it was kind of weird,,, Restring zero had very good control and good topspin potential,, but just felt more and more Uncomfortable as the match went on.....lol :(

I havent played with a full bed in awhile. But felt like it was harsh, then okay, then harsh again. I have been enjoying it mixed with Sync. Feel like that makes it have a consistent feel. Still trying to determine the average usable duration of the blend though, compared to the FB of zero.

played 3 hour match,,, it still felt like fresh after that long. it was good 3 hours cause it was very hard hitting 4.5 level tennis

Per your initial Zero 1.23 review, would you say typical playable longevity full-bed is right around 14-15 hours, or thereabouts?
Yeah, I think so. I might cut it out sooner now depending on the frame. But if I am feeling cheap maybe hit that 15/16. I haven't played with a FB in awhile. But might give it another go soon if I buy more sets. I need to play through a giant stack of toroline strings. FWIW, I have about 3 hours on Zero main/sync cross, and staring to show a notch, its just starting to catch when I pull the strings to the side. Curious to see how quick (or not) that becomes a problem.

its a good solid poly, too bad my arm just can't handle it....lol. will probably have to go back to Hyper G or confidential. trying Hyper G next

Just wondering if anyone cares to share their experiences blending Zero. I find it to be great as a main string combined with a round cross. So far I've tried Zero as a main with Enso Pro, Poly Tour Pro, and Sync. I want to try it with other crosses but wondering if anyone has had experience with other cross strings.

I've used it with Hawk Power (never tried as full bed). I'm surprised to hear people say it's uncomfortable but I guess my cross string might play a role. I never felt anything close to uncomfortable when using this hybrid. I was using 1.23 zero mains. Would eventually like to try 1.28 mains with hawk power.

Hawk Power is not the slickest but the feel is great (both in full bed and hybrid).

Nice. I've tried Hawk Power with some Toroline strings and really enjoyed it.

I've been using this in an ezone tour over the last week and I'm very impressed.
Were you able to control the depth of your shots with zero in the mains? It has the most spin out of any string on the market but sometimes feels like can’t swing out with it because it will go long. I assume it also wasn’t too stiff in the mains?

Absolutely. I agree with everything you've said about Zero, it's why I've been testing different cross strings to help tame it a bit and make the overall experience a but softer. PTP Yellow and Black have been great so far. I've also tried Enso Pro and ReString Sync. Enso Pro is super soft and comfy, but it's also pretty powerful in my experience. Sync is a little stiffer but I'm still testing the blend. I plan on testing Hyper G Round, Hawk Power, and some of the Grapplesnake round strings next.

Zero / PTP seems to be a winner so far.

Can’t lie, after using zero I found the spin to be amazing but the fact you couldn’t swing fully and know roughly were it was going, was a problem. Tried it with sync and it worked better but still would struggle to get consistent depth. How did you find the feel and touch with this set up as zero is a bit firmer in comparison to ptp. As you said, if you can find a string that tames it as well as brings out the best of the string, you will be on to a winner. How did you find this set up in comparison to a full bed of lynx tour? Really like lynx tour but has made the arm a bit too sore. Not sure if that’s because 50lbs is high for that string or if it’s too firm a string for me.

How would you describe Zero/PTP vs crossing with Enso pro and Sync? Have you tried PTP Spin/PTP as a comparison? I found that very stiff and powerful even at 48lbs. I tried it with Zero/Wasabi-X and was impressed at first but eventually got very launchy and powerful.

PTP softened up the string bed in a good way. I'm still able to hit a variety of shots at 54 / 50 lbs. For reference, I like to take full cuts at the ball as much as possible. Haven't tried Lynx Tour but I intend to. So many strings to try. I really like shaped mains and soft round crosses for comfort.

Enso Pro is the softest and most comfortable cross I've used to date, I love it. I've been using Sync in a lot of setups recently and it's a much firmer string and it does exactly what they market it to do. I haven't tried the PTS / PTP blend but I'd like to. I'm not a fan of Wasabi-X, just personal preference. Tried it in a full bed and it was uncomfortable for me. Also tried it with Wasabi and it was the same experience.

Lynx tour full bed is very good. I can imagine it to also be a good hybrid string as well. Zero and ptp maybe the one to test next because full bed is good but doesn’t last long and for me right now, it ends up sailing long quite a bit. Not sure why but that is its flaws. Did you not notice the stiffness of zero at over 50lbs and what gauge did you use?

I have been enjoying Super Toro/Wasabi-X at 50 lbs. It's a bit firm but get great control and you can really hit through it and not worry about it launching. Has great spin and snapback, and decent ball pocketing. Definitely going to try Enso pro. Curious why you went with 54/50 for tension. What if you bumped the Enso pro a bit to offset the power and gain more control, especially since you mentioned it's soft.

I prefer the 17/1.23 gauge Zero. I've broken it a handful of times but the playability lasts up until I break it for the most park. I'm not super sensitive to polys, but I didn't notice anything harsh with Zero above 50. A soft cross does a lot to tame stiffness in the mains from my experience. The 4 lbs differential is also really nice.

It doesn’t drop much tension until it breaks which is very good. Any reason behind the 4lbs difference? Is this your main set up zero/ ptp?

More spin and a slightly higher launch angle for the Ezone. It will most likley be my setup but I want to try Hyper G round next. I've heard its good.

Will be very interested to see how it does against other strings. Like you said previously, so many strings out there to test. Did you say you had tried ptp and pt spin? Have used that in the past but found that the spin wasn’t that good as well as the feel. Full bed of ptp was better but a lot of people like the ruud set up. Wonder if the zero and ptp betters it. Will be surprised if hyper g round is better but I don’t particularly like hyper g in any of their versions. Much prefer confidential and tour bite soft.

I hit for another two hours tonight indoors with the Ezone Tour strung with Zero / PTP Yellow at 56 / 52. Excellent setup. Zero really helps with power and spin. PTP helps reign it in a bit and softens up the experience. Looks awesome as well. My hitting partner played in college so the setup really holds up during heavy rallies.

I've never tried the Ruud setup but this is sort of the same concept and same color scheme. Works really well in an Ezone. I don't know if HyperG Round will be any better, it's just on the list to try because it's been getting such high marks as a cross.

Sounds like the real deal and a perfect set up for the ezone. Did you find the ptp had enough control after several to still be able to harness that power and spin from the zero. Were you able to flatten out groundstrokes with that much spin and did the serves feel and play good?

It’s pretty much the same concept but like you said, it’s probably a better version of it. Hyper g round has got excellent reviews in a hybrid. It’s just finding that string to get the best out of it.

So far, PTP has performed really well with Zero. I've tested Zero / PTP Black in a VCP97D and it was fantastic there too. Tons of power, spin, and comfort. Serving is always amazing with an Ezone but more so with Zero. I'm a big fan of the string in the mains with a soft, controlled cross. Haven't hit with a full bed in awhile.

As long as the comfort is there and you can also hit good flat shots, it will be worth a go. Did you try ptp in the mains at any point with zero or did zero have to go in the mains out of these 2 strings?

Every time I've tried PTP, I've loved it. Never tried Zero as a cross but TennComm recommends it. Give Zero / PTP a try, I love it.

I am very tempted to try out this set up now. Debating between this string set up, full bed of rpm rough or lynx tour 18. Just to clarify, you said you had zero in the mains and ptp in the crosses when you used it? Would you change it to the other way round now after using these 2 strings?

I won another match tonight with this set up. I personally really like this combo - Zero / PTP Yellow at a 4lb differential. I like a tighter set up so I chose 56 / 52 lbs. I've tried a lot of string setups and I can vouch for this one. Tension loss and notching feels pretty minimal after 7 hours of hard hitting since it was strung up a little over a week ago. I hit with a decent amount of topspin as well.

not sure if you’ve mentioned this or not, but have you noticed a difference between the various colors of PTP?

I've tried Zero with Yellow and Black. Both have felt great. I generally prefer PTP Yellow though. I'm using Zero at 1.23 and PTP at 1.25

Have you tried them both at a lower tension? Tbh wouldn’t be going that high myself if I was to try this set up as the firmness of the zero would probably be felt on the arm. I guess zero has to be played slightly higher so that ball doesn’t sail long.

Has anyone tried the PTP blue? Any difference in comfort? Blue on blue would like nice, lol

Hi all, too bad I missed the sales last month, anyone know a good discount code? Would love to try but the string is pricey.

Posted on another thread, sync/zero 48/46, Radical Pro - Pro Stock. Similar RA to 2023 Retail.
String was perfect and I’ve tested at least 15-20 stings and combos including Gut/Poly. Nothing comes close and zero/sync is very comfortable. 8 hours in a tension/snap still on point, minimal nothing if any.

Has anyone used a full bed of zero in an ezone 98? Does it play better as a full bed or does it need to be used in a hybrid to get the best out of both the string and racket?
