I just bought a new unstrung RF97 v10 red/black from the unnamed site. I have 4 of these rackets already and all of them have glossy finished paintjob. The 'new' one has a more dull finish but still has the laser etching graphics. I am highly suspecting a counterfit was sold to me. Were any of the first editions with a matte or less glossy paint job? Also the 'smart tennis sensor' writing on the lower hoop is missing compared with my other 4 rackets. the beam seems to be the same width and the throat length seems the same. The bumper and grommet channel seems a bit more narrow but the bumper is the same as the others. Weight is 338 unstrung so within spec id say. Also its got that black and silver W butt cap which is different then the others. My gut tells me isnt right something here. Any experts out there that can verify ? I dont want to accuse the seller of selling a counterfit before I ask around first. Thx!

been a while since I've worked on the v10...but I did see different versions mostly indicated with the different butt cap. Also the hairpin shape might be different depending on what factory it was made in according to what I've been told. I had two v7 blades and the hairpin shape was different (square/diamond). The different v10 did play different according to friend I was stringing for. Specs were pretty similar. have you played with it yet?

the most obvious difference is the paint job, the 'new' one is not shiny at all like the others. I just found info that the early 2014 models didnt come w the smart sensor tech in the buttcap and those were the black cap . The shiny red caps were the ones w sensor .

i didn't notice the paint on the ones that crossed my path...and unfortunately this is one of the more common racquets that were bootlegged
yea the paint job is not right. not even gonna try to hit w it as I want to send it back or get refund. how did you deal w the fake you bought on the 'unnamed site' ? did you get your money back?
Did not get my money back and the site was no help. I am talking about the 90 RF stick so it was a number of years ago

you cant see any difference except the paint job which is matte. Does anyone know if these were released with a matte or less shiny paint job? Seller is cliaming that maybe in EU the paint jobs were glossy and in US they are matte...

I do own a glossy one and one with a less shiny paint job in V10 and indeed one was bought from TW Europe and one from US.
I wouldn't call it mate though - just less shiny. Butt caps are the same.
Best is to look for imperfections - fakes have imperfections in how decals are applied, use different fonts, not perfectly aligned etc.

Interesting, so it was indeed released in the US with a different gloss finish. The european versions look incredible compared to the US model I just received. Kinda disappointing TBH.
