RF Cap is back

I don’t have any RF hats anymore so I can not compare both but Uniqlo version material is thinner (nice way).
It reminds of almost early version of Nike featherlight hat.
Compared with “REGOR” hat, material is thinner and better feeling. Not a big fan of bill but it’s not that bad.
I don’t use any cotton material hats to playing tennis but I feel like there is a possibility to play tennis with this hat.

Hats are tricky to make since most of hats have one size.
Slight different measurements will give very different feeling.
This RF version hat has slightly bigger feeling to it.

also I like the logos especially “REGOR” and uniqlo logos since I wear hats backwards.

Unfortunately I have some problems with the hat. The first complain is the peak which feels really flimsy and cheap. It's also bigger than every uniqlo cap that I own so the fit is definitely not for everyone. To me at least it seems to be of much lower quality than the ND cap (which was 98% cotton, 2% elastane), it's much thinner for sure. It may be a good thing for some, because as far as 100% cotton caps go this might be the best one to play tennis in due to it being very light and almost polyester like. RF logo is massive and there's a lot of things going on in the back (Uniqlo logos, GO ROGER and another small RF logo), but all of those are very subjective.

What is worrying though is how they mislead us with band photos on the inside of the cap. They look completely different in the retail verison (on the left) and remind me of the ND PE cap (on the right).

On the positive side the green cap looks absolutely fantastic and I'd personally recommend getting that one if you can.

Since when thick bulky items signify "quality"? If anything, it is the other way around.

By the looks of it Uniqlo has done a very good job both as purposefulness of the cap, and its execution (the embroidery of the RF lettering is superb, even though I am neither a fan of wearing someone else's insignia, nor would I consider such a hat having a place outside of the context of a tennis stadium).

I didn't say that the ND hat was bulky. When it comes to cotton (or any other material) the thickness doesn't have to represent quality, each case has to be judged seperately. The ND cap in this case is closer to what you'd expect cotton Lacoste or Fred Perry cap feel like, while RF cap while not as bad can remind some of those wish or aliexpress caps (mostly when it comes to the peak). You wouldn't call Lacoste tennis polo bulky because it's thicker than go sport or walmart polyester shirts. The cap is fine, but the EU price seems to be more about it being RF branded than actual quality item, completely unlike their other tennis gear (especially socks and wristbands).

Since I have no reference point to almost anything you speak of, I can't possibly comment on what is an "aliexpress" cap, nor Fred Perry cap, nor a Walmart polyester anything.

However, Lacoste has NEVER produced thick material pique polos. You might be mistaking the 3 dimensionality of the weave with thickness. In fact, they are quite a bit airier than their competitors, which is why they are so comfortable. I have a couple of Lacoste cotton caps and they are not particularly thick either. Certainly nothing like my Arcteryx expedition caps that literally can serve you to keep the condors' talons off of your head.

As for pricing, they charge about half of what Lacoste asks for their ND (and others) caps.

This and @kimguroo have been the best reviews I have seen so far on the caps.

Thanks for posting and including all these details and comparisons with other Uniqlo gear.

Where can you find that dark green RF hat?

You can't now. They restocked them after the initial release, but they are also sold out, and the second restock was quite substantial: I bought for family members and friends around 15 from exactly the dark green colour way, and I know a friend that bought another 20 from the same place. They were in stock also elsewhere. That was on 20.12.

The quality of the cap is quite good. I don't understand the complaints about the bill being "cheap" or too big. It is neither. The bill (from the base of the bill to the edge) measures 7 centimetres. The whole cap back to front - 29 centimetres. The embroidery is fantastic.

My only problem is it’s scratchy cause it’s cotton but I’m used to dri fit and other hats with sweat wicking materials, but it’s beautiful. I got the blue with white text for Christmas:)

Ugh, why all cotton? My last GoRoger Uniqlo hat is not a good fit, feels like it never really is on my head (note: I don't have a huge head either). Maybe these are improved but I have my Nike RF's (DriFit) still so will keep them around and see if these improve.

Some of my Nike RFs fit way off too. My purple/lava one from the French fits so much smaller than my USO one from just a few months later

So do these hats run big or small? I have a huge noggin (HEED PANTS NOW!) and the old Rafa ones barely fit just right at max sizing.

@FlamingCheeto I too have a pretty big head, My RF hat fits great only had to let the strap out 1/4". I happened to have a tape measure handy and my head is ~23.5" around lol
Hope this helps!
thanks for the quick reply, i took a chance and just ordered the green one, most hats I have to extend the strap out 100% and it still barely fits! HEED! Pants NOW! But hopefully this will fit now that I've gotten a short haircut as well. How are they at sweat absorption and overall comfort?

No problem! Honestly just going to wear it casually off court for now. The cotton is really nice, it has a slight sheen out of the box which is nifty. Just a guess but It feels like its going to get water logged like a normal cotton hat and not breathe well.

Key quote: The unveiling of the Uniqlo hats late last year came several months after news broke that the “RF” trademark had been sold by Nike. The buyer? A Bottmingen, Switzerland-based company called Tenro AG – i.e., a Federer-owned holding company that houses the Swiss tennis star’s portfolio of intellectual property assets. Until recently, the “RF” logo was not in that arsenal.

The article is full of claims that indicate that it was written to present Nike as the winner from that situation. Claims that back then and now are not confirmed by anything (including that the rights "have been sold"), yet are presented as facts (in favour of Nike). Still, it is important that Federer now has his logo back and can use it whichever way he pleases.

It would be nice to see a discreet RF on his shirts and shorts; maybe taking the place of the Uniqlo logo on this sleeve and socks

Got mine from TW today. It's lighter than the original Nike RF hats. The embroidery looks fantastic. The velcro strap feels a bit cheap... it might not hold well over time and I'd be nervous about throwing this in the wash. Unfortunately, I have a small head and as others have mentioned the hat itself fits pretty big. When I tighten the back strap to try to make it fit, then the extra length covers up the Uniqlo logos which is a bad design flaw.
