We can believe all day but that doesn't mean it'll happen. His best chance for #19 is obviously at SW 19. I really hopes he doesn't give much effort in the clay season and prepares on grass as early as possible.

No.19 all of a sudden seems realistic after AO 17 win, but we have to remain realistic and see the truth that Fed is now 36 and his level can be a bit inconsistent throughout the yeqar. Having said that, I think he has some realistic chance at Wimbledon this year. Let's keep the fingers crossed. Just imagine if he indeed wins Wimby. The board will go crazy and we'll be talking about no.20, something no one ever even dreamed of.

You just solved the mystery.

Australian Open 2017 was:

17 major tournaments spanning from Wimbledon 2012 to Australian 2017.
17 Seed
17 Slams
17 years since he made his Australian Open debut.
Sampras was the 17th Seed in USO 02
Fed's Favorite number is 8, and 1+7 = 8.

#19 will come at SW19.
19 majors passed since Wimbledon 2012.
9-1 = 8 which will be his 8th Wimbledon.
8 years since he retook the #1 at Wimby 2009.

You guys are worse than the Djokofans who were claiming Novak would win 20 Slams
To be fair overjealous fans of you know who ( in time when Djok dominated), claimed it more than real fans. And they blamed weak era. Still here and ready to pull the same stuff as soon as he wins next slam

Y'all are greedy. 18 is so so so nice. Almost didn't even happen. Just enjoy and savor it.

Fully enjoying. But the truth is that Fed has as good or better chance of winning another slam this year as anyone so why not have an eye on 19.

Fed is healthy (knock on wood), motivated and confident, with the crowd always overwhelmingly behind him every match so why not seek more.

You think Djokovic winning 20 is anywhere remotely as likely as Federer winning another?

It's really unbelievable how many (not all!) of the Djoker fans still have this pie in the sky belief that their guy is going to win 20 majors when he'll be 30 the next time one is contested.

I meant this post of course.

You have a point. It's hard to imagine the kind of lunacy that could even conceive of adding another one. Nine more? No problem. Not one more, though. Yowza.

Yes, talking about the winner of the last slamming possibly winning one more slam at some unspecified point is definitely the same as the previous talks of Noél doubling his slam count.
But don't you see? 0+1=1 and 1 is infinitely greater than 0, whereas doubling merely means getting twice as much as you already have! :D

Dat logic made myself cringe

Except for the fact Novak had like 7 slams at the time.

Huge difference between 18 and 19 slams as apposed to 12 and 20 slams.

Except for the clear and striking difference about Federer slam predictors being right 18 times.
It's not about the number of Slams; it's about the number of posts/posters

You'd have maybe a handful of Djokofans making those predictions. The sheer volume of Fedfans going bananas, here and elsewhere, is alarming

I don't personally think 19 is happening (though I didn't think 18 was, either). But fans "going bananas" for a 35-year-old winning a major title is hardly out of line... especially after being away from the game for six months! It's one of the most astonishing feats in modern sports history, for sure.

I agree. A high number of fans of a tennis players daring to hope or dream about a single slam is very alarming indeed. Stop the presses.

18 is good, we are thankful. But it should have been 20-23, so 2 more like AO17 will heel any leftover scars
Totally understand where you're coming from, but I've learned you can't think in terms of "should've or could've". He earned some major wins where he could've lost in early rounds or could've been injured or could've etc etc. Just accept things for what they are and be content. After all, imagine how Murray fans must feel!

Whats wrong with hoping federer would win another slam? I know realisticly it will be very hard, but nothing wrong with wishing for it. I doubt federer, if fit, will go into Wimbledon and Us open and think 'i hope i reach the semi's'. No he will try his hardest to win the whole thing, it might happen, might not, but he will definitely try. And as long as he will keep trying, I will keep hoping :)

Even the very thought of Fed fans dreaming is indigestible for @jm1980

Such is his love affair with Roger

Looks like you've already forgotten the days when Djokofans flooded the boards with grand predictions, or when Rafans did the same

Surely you can see how that's annoying when the shoe is on the other foot, huh?

Let me get this straight .. Fed fans wanting 19 is same as Djoko fans wishing 20 , given the number of majors both have already ?

Hey now! We believed, not just all day, but all day for 4 years - and it happened! :)

But you don't even accept there are realistic guys who are just happy Fed won another slam at all.
