Soderling playing the roll of Clubber Lang, knocking out yet another victim.

I want Nadal! I want Nadal! You hear that, Old Man? You tell Nadal to come here! Nobody can beat me! You tell him what I said! And he's NEXT! I'm gonna kill him! Nobody can stop me! You tell Nadal that! I'M COMING AFTER HIM! YOU TELL HIM!

HAHA, au contraire, many of your Nadal buddies (see @Vortex shaking with anger) were hanging onto Berdych and hoping Soderling would lose !
Yes they are in denial they was rooting for berdych the whole time now that he's lost they're calling him a choker.

SP ... those kind of posts are not directed at people like you! The intended targets will take the bait! Apologies for any offence though! ;)

I've always liked Soderling and Federer. Saying that isn't fair...:(

Todays performance was not encouraging for Soderling going into the final. He started off playing great and was on his way to a straight sets win then he choked and fell apart badly and nearly let Berdych come back to win the match. Playing like this he would have no chance vs even a subpar Nadal. It looks like Soderling has already lost the form he showed throughout the tournament and vs Federer.

Ewww, Ugnasty won.

Oh well, Berdych played well. I'm still proud of him going to 5 sets for his swipe at the chance to go for a major title.

You have to take the conditions into account. Hotter and faster than the Fed match. Some announcers mentioned the sun bothering him, but that sounds unconvincing.

So I guess he needs the perfect conditions come the final to play his best and have any chance. That plus not being tired at all from today (it wasnt that long a 5 setter and the points were shorter so shouldnt be too bad there).

on his way to a straight set victory ? on what basis ????

soderling was bound to have some problems with berdych's pace ( unlike what you ramble about - fact is berdych is not a clown and has played pretty well throughout this FO ) - he won't have that many problems with the pace of rafa ( of course his insane defense will cause sod problems ) - we'll see what happens

LOL he wouldnt have as many problems with Rafa's shots as Berdych's on clay!? You really love to display your stupidity over and over again dont you. Nadal's shots on clay are almost as hard but with way more spins, angles, and precision than Berdych's. Soderling's only prayer in the final is to play way better than he did today overall, as well or better as he did the first 2 sets the whole match. And he was on his way to a straight sets win based on the fact he completely dominated the first 2 sets and was thoroughly dictating play and overpowering Berdych except for the 4th set. Then his level inexplicably dropped in the 3rd set onwards which is what caused the match not to be the straight sets rout it was heading towards had he carried on that level (the only set Berdych played better was the 4th set). I shouldnt have to even explain that but then again look who I am talking to.

ARE YOU NUTS or are you are high ?????? Maybe you are just a CLOWN !!!!

sod played WELL below his best in the 2nd set... he LOST IT, in fact was facing breakpoint to go down by 2 breaks at one stage ....

He played well in the 1st,4th and 5th ... but then again , you DON'T ever watch matches do you ???

he was NEVER on his way to win the match in straights

I never said sod wouldn't have less problems with rafa's groundstrokes on clay than with berdych's, was ONLY referring to the pace on the shots of course and the fact that berdych has a pretty good serve ( clearly superior to rafa ) WAS bound to create some problems for sod ... But hey, you don't even watch matches and yet go and calling players clowns

Dammit Berdy, this was your best chance to make a slam final.

Hopefully he gets a good draw at Wimbledon, his game finally seems to have clicked so I'd love to see what can he do on grass.

If there is a stupid one in this whole discussion it's you.

Your hate for Berdych and your "love" for Nadal are making you look like a clown. Soderling had to play five sets today because of the sun and maybe his lotion dripping off of his forehead too often, right?. Get real.

zagor,

THIS is the person whose memory we are supposed to trust or even respect for his knowledge ? ( remember the conversation in the former pro player section ) one who supposedly remembers so many things from matches in the past years ? seriously ?

This person can't even set aside his bias to even look at the matches anywhere objectively , even twists the scores according to his comfort !

Soderling dictated play in the 1st and 2nd sets and should have been on his way to a straight sets win based on that, but all the errors in the 2nd set which built throughout the match prevented that from happening. Anyway who cares, on todays form he is being ***** by Nadal in the final which will be a pleasure to watch.

WATCH the matches , UEs were flying over from sod's side in the 2nd set. he didn't have even a single BP .. how on earth is that dictating play....

berdych was without a shadow of doubt the better player in the 2nd set

Sod could have won the 3rd set, had a bunch of BPs , but berdych prevailed ...

The very fact that davey can call pros clowns and talk about pros lucking out slams shows he has little to no respect for the game .

Yeah that is why former many time Slam Champion pros like McEnroe, Navratilova, Evert, and others actually call certain players lucky to win their slams on air. They must have no respect for the game too.

Soderling was the one hitting most of the winners in the 2nd set and running Berdych around even though he lost it. That is how he was dictating play. Berdych didnt even start to dictate play any until the 3rd set where Soderling was unnerved by losing the 2nd set.

However you want to sum it up Soderling played like garbage today compared to his level the rest of the tournament and has no hope vs Nadal playing like this.

You are absolutely right.

There were parallels with the Federer game. Only when both started to serve poorly did Soderling take control.

Come on zag, look at his posts ! Is he anywhere close to suggesting he didn't watch the match ?

Let's take the cases, shall we,

a) he didn't watch the match , just posts some garbage making it SEEM he watched the match, berdych is a clown, sod should never have gone 5 sets .... blah blah ...

b) he watched the match, if so he is a pathetic manipulator for saying soderling was anywhere close to being on the way to a straight set victory

Either way its pathetic

He can't even bother to acknowledge that berdych's pace ( serve+groundstrokes ) was bound to cause sod some problems !

And you consider yourself anymore qualified to talk about the game. The fact is your statement is ridiculous since some of the past greatest champions about the game talk about certain players being luckier and others not so much when comparing them and talking about their careers all the time. You are clueless to say it is disrespectful of fans to talk about the same things past greats of the game of themselves talk about even on air, to the press, in interviews, even in their own books, many times over. Now go back to your Federer shrine and take abmk with you, thanks.

Lets face it, we all know the only thing that stings you is many people saying Federer was lucky to win certain events, especialy his 2 pivotal slams last year. And the fact even many of the past great champions of the game who respect him highly said he was incredibly lucky last year. That is the only reason this is such a sensitive topic for you. Otherwise you wouldnt give a darn, but it is your beloved Federer so....

He was going for way too much , berdych played smartly and got those errors from him ..

Its not called dictating play when you are just bashing away committing too many errors, its called ball-bashing.

He didn't have a SINGLE breakpoint .....That is NOT dominating or dictating play

However you want to sum it up Soderling played like garbage today compared to his level the rest of the tournament and has no hope vs Nadal playing like this.

There were phases in which he played badly, but there were also phases where he was striking well. Its not like nadal has been in stellar form this RG. I can very well see sod taking out nadal especially if nadal doesn't serve well

I would like you to point out where i even came close to implying that.Of course I don't.I give my opinions without being disrespectful towards the pros.I'm not the one calling pros clowns.

If me showing basic respect towards pros makes me clueless then I'll take it.Unlike you I can appreciate their efforts .I'm happy with that.
As for me going to the Federer-shrine,talk about a pot calling a kettle black.Since when have you left the Sampras shrine?

Horrible choke in the 5th set from Berdych. His first serve went down the toilet and he made some horrible UE'S.

he didn't make that many UE's , but yeah, his first serve % went way down , sod was striking well then and bossed him around left right

Choke my ass. If anything Sod nearly blew it when he allowed Berd to break right back w/ those errors and DFs to start the 5th.

Don't worry though, I hope for your sake Sod gives Nadal something to choke on Sunday.

I saw the entire match. Berdych played incredible for two sets, then did everything he could to lose the next three. I would call it one of the biggest chokes I've ever seen. ;)

No.It's not like Berdych held match-points in that match.Being up two sets to love dosen't immediately mean the match is and should be in your bag. That's what's great about five-set matches .And if I'm not wrong Roger himself was having a bit of trouble with consolidating the breaks of serve he got.

"No."

Hey, there's a great rebuttal. I actually talk about Berdych's level of play, and how it differed between sets (missing several easy putaways on game points, games he ended up losing etc. etc. etc.), but yeah you say no. I never said the match was in the bag, but it wasn't even a fight after the second set. Berdych completely went away compared to his first two sets where he was playing extremely well.

But as you said, "no." Yep, how could I not see the obvious truth in front of my face?

Condescension again? hmm..ok chief..
Berdych level going down had something to do with Roger's level going up.Roger himself changed up his tactics,he changed his own approach in the match. He forced Berdych into uncomfortable plays. And how do you equate the word 'choke" in terms of the fluctuations in the level of play? Those happen to the best of players.Do they "choke" as well?
