Can't say I wasn't surprised. Didn't see him steamroll him the last three sets. Definitely the best mental game in history

Yeah feel bad for Tsitsipas. Overjoyed as a Novak fan but was a tough one for the Greek. A win today could changed the landscape and give hope for Tsitsipas and next gen to try take over more. As it is Djokovic and big 3 still on top. I hope Tsitsipas can recover because he has a great game and he fought well today.
His BH and ROS are a huge problem. He needs to sort them out otherwise he wont win a slam.
Wimbledon is going to be amazing. Nadal better turn up!!

Has djokovic ever came back from two sets down to win in a slam final?

We didn't see "peak" djokovic at the French open we instead saw a gutsy fighter who never gives up against all the odds, he wasn't supposed to beat Nadal but novak writes his own script.
no, barring this match he played just one match being down 0-2 and he lost it (vs murray at uso)

Nope he was 2-1 down twice at AO (12 and 20)

I was definitely torn in this match. Tsitsipas is my least favorite NextGen'er, possibly my least favorite tennis player on tour. It would have bummed me out if he was the first one to win the title. OTOH, I respect his game and I really wanted the youth movement to get a win, a serious win. So, I was three-quarter heartedly cheering him on. Now that it's over, I'm pretty okay with the outcome. Djokovic deserved that win. What an epic comeback, one for the ages. I think he's already the GOAT and he's only going to build on that the next 2-4 years. Congrats to Djokovic fans, commiserations to Tsitsipas fans (pretty sure they exist, hard to tell who are antis versus geniune fans). We are a mere two weeks from doing this all over again on grass.

Tier 1 won at same age for the big 3:

18 years old- Nadal: 2 (2 Masters)- Fed/Djoko: 0
19- Nadal: 5 (1 Slam + 4 Masters) - Djoko: 1 (1 M) - Fed: 0
20- Nadal/Djoko: 4 (1 S + 3 M) - Fed: 1 (1 M)
21- Nadal: 3 (1 S + 2 M) - Fed: 1 (1 S) - Djoko: 1 (WTF)
22- Nadal: 7 (3 S + 4 M) - Fed: 6 (2 S + 3 M + WTF) - Djoko: 1 (1 M)

23- Fed: 6 ( 2 S + 3 M + WTF) - Djoko: 5 (1 S + 4 M) - Nadal: 3 (3 M)
24- Fed: 6 (3 S + 3 M) - Djoko: 5 (3 S + 2 M) - Nadal: 4 ( 3 S + 1 M)
25- Fed: 7 (3 S + 3 M + WTF) - Djoko: 5 ( 1 S + 3 M + WTF) - Nadal: 3 (1 S + 2 M)

26- Djoko: 6 (5 M + WTF) - Nadal: 4 (1 S + 3 M) - Fed: 3 ( 1 S + 1 M + WTF)
27- Djoko: 8 (2 S + 5 M + WTF) - Nadal: 5 (2 S + 3 M) - Fed: 4 (3 S + 1 M)
28- Djoko: 9 ( 3 S + 5 M + WTF) - Fed: 2 (1 S + 1 M) - Nadal: 1 (1 S)
29- Djoko: 2 ( 1 S + 1 M) - Fed: 2 (1 M + WTF) - Nadal: 1 (1 M)

30- Fed: 5 (1 S + 3 M + WTF) - Nadal: 2 ( 2 S + 2 M) - Djoko: 0
31- Djoko: 6 (3 S + 3 M) - Nadal: 4 (2 S + 2 M) - Fed: 1 (1 M)
32- Djoko: 3 (2 S + 1 M) - Nadal: 3 (1 S + 2 M) - Fed: 0
33- Nadal: 3 (2 S + 1 M) - Djoko: 3 (1 S + 2 M) - Fed: 2 (2 M)

I stopped at 33 since Djoko has just turned 34 and we don't know yet how much he'll win by end of May next year.
Note that Nadal is the only one who did not have a single year without tier 1 titles since 18 (Fed had no tier 1 at 32, Djoko at 30). Kudos for "robotic" consistency!
Also note that Novak's 33rd year corresponded to the COVID pandemic and that a number of tier 1 events were not played that year, including Wimbledon.
Other than that, the age pattern is quite clear I think!
Djoko leads with 7 years at # 1, of which 4 consecutive: 20, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31 and 32
Nadal has 6, of which 5 consecutive: 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 33
Fed has 4, of which 3 consecutive: 23, 24, 25 and 30

Long live GOAT KING Djoko!!!!!!!!! (to be continued...)

What's the Mortogoru's explanation as to why he lost ?? Stepanoe supposed to win today and take over serena's role as STAR player of the academy and bring thousand more students and make patrick Rich ,, and make IMG look like child play

Very interesting match. Clay is Novaks worse surface, yet he wins again. Set one he breaks Stepanoe at 5 all, then misses 4 easy shots in a row. I think he could taken Stepanoe in 3 straight sets, but was just messing with him. He gave Steopanoe the 2nd set, then made Stepanoe looks like a club player. 3 sets in a row, and Novak wins.
Clearly the best player on tour, way ahead of the others. Nadal, looked bad, had the easiest draw possible, played people he always beats. But he was not in shape, and I think has lost a step. Seldom you see a 36 year old clay player without knee and ankle injuries. I think he will retire soon, physical training is becoming to much for him. He had a good run, time for the older guys to step aside. Novak has 3 years left, and he will be out. Federer looked bad at the French, his heart is not in it anymore.
Novak has a good chance to win the grand slam this year. To bad he hit the official with a ball at the U.S. Open, he would have won easily that tournament.
guy is fit and limber, and has the best baseline game of all of them. And his racket head control is the best ever.

I agree. However, if Novak equals them he’s greater than both of them. Yep he’s still needs the next slam out of the big3.

Then as it would stand he’d be on top due to his CV out of slams being better and double career slam. For now though 1 more needed. Right though what a monumental moment for Djokovic, Djokovic fans and the slam race. The heat is on.

The numbers only tell part of the story. Nadal and Djokovic have gone their entire career without having to face a younger all time great. Federer had to deal with two.

In winning his 2nd RG title,19th Slam and 84th singles title, Djokovic becomes:

1. The 1st man in the Open Era to complete a Career Grand Slam twice.
2. The 3rd man in the history of tennis to complete a Career Grand Slam twice (along with Laver and Emerson).
3. One of only 2 current players to win multiple Slams on all 3 surfaces (along with Nadal).
4. One of only 6 players in the Open Era to rally from 2 sets down to win a Slam final (others being Borg, Lendl, Agassi, Gaudio, Thiem).
5. One of only 5 players in the Open Era to rally from 2 sets down to win a final at Roland Garros (others being Borg 1974, Lendl 1984, Agassi 1999, Gaudio 2004).

The winning a GS title twice is more rare cause none have done it before, but you would think if someone has 20 slams and only one at one major then that is a bit of a fail....

Big 3??? Who is the third wheeler?
Yeah right now it’s a big 1. Hopefully Djokovic continues to dominate and wraps up the debate for sure on being the greatest. Not getting carried away though as things can change quickly. As we seen in Wimbledon 2016. Still got High hopes for Novak now.

For now though he needs to rest a bit before getting ready on grass for Wimbledon.

WIM is his to lose. USO will be a much bigger fight as it will be 20-20-20 Fedr is done. Nadl is still there. Tsits is mentally screwed for the rest of the season. Med can push him. And that's about it. OG plus 4 GSs this year plus YE No1 is what I am gunning for with him.

Tsitsipas had a "heart to heart" with Serena Williams before the finals? "How to act fit while being tired?" was the subject matter!

Yeah he has a perfect game for grass now. He’s also come out in his presser saying I ready for more and to win Wimbledon. Sending on a statement to the tour that he hungry for more. What a warrior! Yeah it’s been an amazing 2021 so far but hopefully more to come.

Woke up at two sets to love. Went to work thinking "wow, Stef's gonna do it, huh?" Checked back a while later and Novak is close to forcing a 5th set lol. Now checking live scores whenever I could. Novak had to work his arse off for this title. Looking like it's gonna be 20-20-20 soon...

If he wins wimbledon it would be a great feat but it could be very difficult. We shall see.

He would destroy them like he did in the past lol

I’m amazed at how some fed fans give roger a pass from 2010 to 2019. His game was good enough to win more than 5 slams after he turned 28. The amount of choking against novak stands out. The 2010 and 2011 us opens. The 2015 us open where he went 4 for 23 on break points. The 2019 wimbledon. His game was still go enough to challenge novak from 2010 to 2019.

Of course it was. Its just excuse making and rationalizing.

I think there are many who would disagree. In fact if all3 retired tomorrow I would bet that if you consulted every experts, ex players and commentators as well as anyone who is neutral on the subject that at least as many ( if not more) would say Novak is the greatest of big 3.

However if they all end up with same number of slams then i would bet around 75-80% of neutral pundits would say Novak is the greatest.

Let's wait and see what happens over next2 slams though and indeed next year because Roger or Rafa my surprise us all and win another couple which would change things again.

Lol. You keep saying that and lose Everytime.
Did you not understand that Novak cannot be beaten in a 5 set match. Unless he is injured.
There is not a single ATP player who can beat him in 5 sets on any surface. Right now at this time.

Dude it’s still a difficult task . Winning the first 3. It hasn’t been done in awhile i believe. Grass is weird in a way but we shall see. All i know is that he will surpass Federer and Federer will be kicking himself for some of those matches he let slip by.

My prediction is the following for Wimbledon:

Federer does not get to 2nd week.
Novak wins the title over a next gen such as Medvedev or Zverev.

What is your prediction? Let's see if you're right this time.
