Agree with you for once. 1st set will be super critical for Novak. If it doesn't go his way, he will have a hard time.

IIRC Novak lost the first set in 2013 too ? And yet came within a net touch of winning. Won't make much out of the first set.

However, all the past performances get reset when this match begins and like I said before, I don't see Nadal's luck deserting him at RG on his birthday.

If Djokovic wins

1) He might suffer a hangover effect and lose against someone he's expected to beat (I'd say either Wawrinka or Murray).

2) He could go on to win the tournament but I wouldn't give him much of a chance for Wimbledon. Which means Federer might just steal his 18th.

Probably Nadal in 4, similar to last year(except he'll win the 1st set this time). Bit gutted tbh that Novak isn't 100% fully fit but needless to say that bad luck befalling him is par for the course these days at RG. Oh well, at least by going out in the quarters he may end up playing Halle or Queens - really looking forward to the grass court season this year.

You should really stop writting this kind of nonsense or just change you avatar. Djokovic is 1.3-1.4 favorite against Nadal

what some people don't understand is that Nadal is a Monster at PC. Its his home. he has grown up there and established his legacy.

I don't want to think negative, but this is very very tough for Novak. but if he climbs this mountain he will most likely win RG at somepoint in his life eventhough he might get booted in semis after bloodshed Qtrs.

OTOH it is best for Novak to meet Nadal in Qtrs and that too on a cloudy/rainy day. This is his best chance. I hope novak is fit for this battle.

Novak should give up his nerves and start strong. That will be the key. He usually loses the first couple of games and digs himself a hole.

The problem is, Nadal won't win the 1st set.

It's gonna be funny to read your posts once Nadal loses.

Rafa doesn't need the 1st set, Djokovic does.
We presume Rafa won't win the 1st set because he hasn't played on Court Phillip since R2.
So it become a must-win set for Djokovic, because Rafa will only get better after re-adjusting to Court Phillip.

Yeah. It's hard to distinguish who is and isn't a troll around here, but as far as I can see, Tennis Commentator is probably the only person on the board who genuinely thinks Nadal will in and will be absolutely shocked by the result the rest of us can see coming. I'll say Djokovic 6-3 6-3 6-3

Shocked would be ESPN last year when 80% of them thought Djokovic would win....
Let's face it, majority of people are wrong, about everything in life/society.

But Rafa was the favorite going into that match last year. It was close, but I remember him being 10/11 or 4/5 after his demolition of Murray.

Just spoke to Novak. He said he's not going to make it look too bad, out of respect for Nadal's accomplishments at RG.

Novak in 4, maybe even in 3. nadal has looked better than in past weeks but he also had a very easy draw and already lost a set against sock while Novak is probabably in his best form since 2011.

Rafa is 5/2 - bookies think this is a done deal.

Nadal is 5 to 2 against to beat Djokovic? Insulting really, for a player who's on a 39 match winning streak at this event and a 6-0 lead against Djokovic at the event. They put way too much priority on best of 3 set matches in recent months compared to French Open matches of recent years.

I hope they destroy each other and Ferrer or hopefully Murray picks up the scraps...this is the ONLY way either Ferrer or Murray can get to the final.

No one's trying to insult anyone. If Vegas made this a pick 'em, they would stand to lose a lot of money. Listing Nadal at 5/2 will allow for even money to fall on both sides which is what they want.

Rafa told me that he is arranging Pascal Maria for the match. GSM Nadal.

Unbelievable.

Fear that too

Novak in 4 is my prediction. Nadal was abysmal today against an UE machine called Sock. However, Nadal is known for upping his level when it really matters

This is Rafa's chance to ERASE Djokovic's 2011 reputation (some people have been saying that Djokovic would have beaten Rafa at 2011 Roland Garros).

Nadal is never as impressive on Court Suzanne.
Looked very messy for a set and a half vs Ferrer on that court last year too.
Although no matter what court played on today, if his opponent was Gasquet.....Rafa would have won in 3 easy sets.

And backing the player who's 6-0 against Djokovic at the French Open, and on a 39 match winning streak at the French Open, is as long a shot as 5/2?

If there is a moment when Djokovic is a huge favourite, it is now. He has not lost a match in a big tournament in a long time

I'm not making an opinion one way or the other on the match. All I'm telling you is that Vegas sets these lines in order to win money. They're not "haters". They are fans of no one. Their only goal is to maximize profits. Having Nadal at 5/2 is the absolute best number for them to maximize profits.

Does the betting market even matter? Why so much whining? If the odds are not accurate according to you, bet on Nadal.

If you think the odds are way off then get on it mate - I'm thinking about it myself at that price. It is what it is though - the guys with skin in the game have Nole as hot and I mean HOT favourite.

That's exactly what the sharps want you to do, hence why the set the line the way they did.

It's one of the best predictors of future events. Not infallible of course, but good indicators nonetheless.

go bet a fortune on Hafa and become a millionaire if you have so much belief in him

the bookies have 0 interest in being "haters" or whatever you want to call them
