History doesn't care about H2H.

Novak is closing in quickly to Nadal with 11 majors compared to 14.

Djokovic beat Nadal in the 2011 Indian Wells final, and the 2008 Indian Wells semi final.

Djokovic has also beaten Nadal in Rome before. Am I missing something?
Yeah, this is not Djokodal head to head. The numbers in ( ) are number of victories over Djoko by Fed or Nad vs number of victories over Djoko by Fed or Nad.

Example: They both played Djoko in Rome. (3/0) means Nadal beat Djoko there 3 times, Fed never beat him in Rome.
Which is why Rome fell in the " more wins to Nadal" category.

(Towser: thanks for explaining)

No problem, you diid a better job i think

Djoko's rate of success vs Fedal (ie more wins for Djoko vs Fed or Nadal)

More wins vs Fed:
1- AO (2/1)
2- USO (2/1)
3- IW (3/2)
4- Rome (3/2)

More wins vs Nadal:
1- Miami (3/1)
2- M-C (2/0)
3- Cincy (2/0)

Tie:
1- RG (1/1)
2- W (1/1)
3- WTF (2/2)
4- Canada (1/1)
5- Paris (1/1)

I did not include WTF 2014 because it was a walkover

Novak has beaten Nadal in all tier 1 events where they've met (= all but 1st fall)
Novak has never beaten Fed at Monte-Carlo, Cincinnati and 1st fall. (They haven't met in 3rd clay)

One thing this shows is that RG was one of the last barriers for Djokovic, having now beaten Nadal there he's pretty much capable of beating anyone anywhere. You would have thought this was the trickiest thing left but he still has Fed/Murray at Cinci and Murray at Wimbledon. I really hope he gets Cinci this year. For me I don't see any reason why he can't beat Federer at MC, it just has never worked out like that. Cinci just seems a tad fast for his natural game vs Fed and Murray though. Hopefully not this year.

I'm starting to feel bad for Novak. Poor guy. 7th time he's going for his traditional beatdown at RG. Worse than Cincy. It must require courage. So much scarring.

Lol, only just seen this post. And there was I thinking no one else had less faith in Novak than me! Also showing who you really prefer there vero - I'm just glad Nole had different plans this time!

:)Took you that long to figure out who she loves!

Anyways, I bet you are happy but Novak still has some business to take care of.

Hope Roger and Novak play each other at Wimby;)

Oh crikey, have we got to wait that long? :?
It depends on if Murray wins today.

I think if Murray wins this French Open (very likely if he beats Djokovic) then he will have an Agassi-1999 like year.

That was a comment on how he must have felt going into the match, not about his chances of winning it. I was asked about who I thought was the favorite before the match started and I said 50/50. Boy was I off with that anyway! But it seemed fair to give Rafa the benefit of the doubt at RG.

Look at their matches in the majors, then. Who has the best record in the majors against Djokovic? Nadal or Federer?

Federer didn't have the privilege of facing Djokovic 6 times at Wimbledon AND during his prime, Nadal has built up his Slam h2h against Djokovic on clay just as he has against Federer. He's way behind the 2 in the other 3 Slams.

Well one thing is for certain, there will be no more...But he hasn't beaten Nadal in a slam since 2012.

I meant Paris master. Otherwise I would have said RG.

Interestingly, if Djokovic wins RG this Sunday. I say IF, because it is not fully certain. Then , both Federer and Djokovic will have completed the Paris double...a city where they have both had most heartbreak, they will also be the ones who won both big titles there.

Rafa, despite his amazing dominance in RG, hasn't delivered in Bercy yet. Paris' greatest champion hasn't completed the Paris double yet. Maybe he will get his chance this year.

Tells us who is the one demensional king of stamina.

The way he's playing this year, I'm not looking forward to indoor.

Agree mostly with this. At least up until Djokovic starts to decline.

I actually think Djokovic's most difficult barrier this year was not Roland Garros. I mean let's face it... we all know Nadal is half the player he was in the past. If Djokovic just plays solid... he beats Nadal this year.

However, I think the most difficult barrier is going to be against Murray on grass. I just don't think Djokovic has the game necessary to beat Murray (in his current form) on grass right. So I think one way or the other... Djokovic loses in the SF or F of Wimbledon to Murray.

If Djoko wins RG and W this year, he will tank Cinci.

...so as to not go into the US Open (with a CYGS on the line) with the pressure of(presumably) a pressure inducing win streak, or are you just funnin'?

Should just make sure he's not playing too much tennis, whatever happens.

Given how close the 1st set was, Nadal may well have won it if he was allowed to play his 4th Round match on Court Phillip (Nadal's 3rd and 4th Round matches were both on Court Suzanne).
I said before the match that Nadal would struggle to find rhythm in the 1st set due to the court change.
And that led to him never finding confidence.
No favors from the French organizers.

I have not yet heard your analysis of what exactly was the reason for Nadal losing in straights at the FO. To a very beatable Djoker (as we saw from the final). I can't believe something as silly as adjusting to a change of court or lack of confidence was the real reason.

Now or never, Nole.
Novak should take it according to where they're both at in their careers. But this is Nadal's backyard. And Nadal will go through hell and back to see Djokovic off here.
Djokovic in 4.

Nadal's 170-180 1st serves won't get him any free points.

Off the ground, Nadal hasn't looked that great at all.
After seeing Nadals performance against Sock, Novak is the heavy favourite. This will be as disappointing as Mayweather Pacquiao.

Novak in 4 not so tight sets.
Djokovic has only dropped his serve 3 times in the tournament, to Nadal's 8. Djokovic is yet to drop a set, has played the (average) highest ranked player per round, and is in absolutely top form.

Nadal in 4.
This is Novak's victory.

I would give Rafa 20% chances.
If he somehow pulls it off, it will be a near miracle.
Novak in 3 routine sets.

This isn't going to be an exciting match. It isn't going to be a war. It's going to be a one sided pounding and Novak's swinging the hammer.
Any Nadal fans genuinely believe he will win???

I don't!
the way nadal played today, and seing how well joker is playing, I'd say Joker in 3 routine sets. Still, hard to bet against Rafa at the FO, so I lean a little towards Rafa getting at least one set, but he has to up his level.
Djokovic in 3. 4 at the most.
I'm a Nadal fan and i reckon the dream will end in 2 days.

For good this time.

Enjoy your retirement, Rafa.
Nadal lost 5 frigging games in a row today.

While serving for the match.

People, get a clue !
