OK, this next game will largely define what the match will be like. If Nadal doesn't get to 40, I'm liking Thiem's chances to take a set.

What is Thiem's fitness level like? I have watched him before but i havent seen him in a 5set match. Just curious because he was already breathing hard after that long point with Rafa and the whole match is going to be like that, i wonder if he will be able to stay with it.

Yeah you can't keep this up all the time. And thiem is not fully recovered I guess but I hope we get some nice hitting to see.

Someone said he lost 5kg due to some virus which made him skip Madrid (I guess the aftereffects would last a while ?) Basically, fitness is suspect.

Beginning of this match already shows that your "Thiem" is clearly overrated

Yeah I said it, he had even withdraw from an event because of it. His fitness isn't there where it was 3 weeks ago. So there is no way he beats nadal. But Thiem is a fighter ('ve seen him since he was 16), if he loses hard he will take even more from it!

Well, unfortunate for him I guess !

Another impressive winner, on the FH side this time. The kid has game, no doubt. but he needs to do more of that, if he gets into a grinding rally with Rafa then he's going to get destroyed.

Yeah, I don't understand Thiem's court positioning at all. Giving away that extra half second to a defensive player, when you have such firepower to use, is effectively waving the white flag.

trying to beat Nadal with high, topspin balls is ... should I say "stupid"?:-)

the boy needs to flatten in ball with Nadal, if he can (I'm not so sure of that on his FH)
