RIP Don Imus

T1000

Legend
79 years old. Radio legend. Paved the way for Mike and the Mad Dog and Howard Stern. Tons of guys worked on his show and went on to have successful careers (Mike Breen, Sid Rosenberg, Chris Carlin to name a few).

Good guy. I met him once at an ad agency hosted party back in the 70s. Nothing like some idle off-air chat with someone you heard on the airwaves.

Diversity of feeling here reflects the way his enormous talent cultivated an enormous ego. Especially in his early days he was as funny and as entertaining as anyone I'd ever heard on the radio (though Dan Ingram came close), but the flattery that his ego demanded led him to affiliate with and exchange flattery with some dubious political figures later in his career, and as with so many people well into their 70s his political views drifted further and further to the right. R.I.P.

Legend
Never was a big fan of Imus. Thought he was ruder than he should have been. Sorry so see him go. Lots of people did like his radio show.
