Robin Soderling RS Legacy V1 shoes launching this fall.

I ordered a pair of the clay soles based on @dr325i ’s comments. They’re reduced 20%. If I like em I’ll get a pair of the hard. Looking for comfort!!!!!
Did you go true to your U.S. size? Please throw some feedback here when you get them regarding toebo width compared to other maximalist shoes in the same (U.S.) size. Thank you.

I am expecting to receive my true size (11) next week (or so) and will update on the toe box and can compare them to: Mizuno WET, KSwiss Hypercourt 2, Diadem Burst, Fila Mondo Forza, Lacoste AG-LT Ultra, Asics GR9, Yonex Ecliption 5,...

Yes, I read @dr325i 's post closely and saw that the RS website had a conversion chart. I wear a Euro 43 US 9 1/2 and ordered same. I'll compare them to my new favorite shoe, the NB CT-Rally. From my current perspective, the CT-Rally is going to be hard to beat.

Looking forward to the review.

Back to the performance of these, I find it really interesting the large pivot point on the outsole. I loved that feature on old barricades (2-5 come to mind). Looks really nice, a place where tennis players apply a lot of pressure/redirect energy. Could be a unique feature - dimitrov just had adidas add that to his ubersonic 5

I mean Dimi's outsole also has a suspiciously tennis ball shaped part on the outsole too ;)

Have they arrived yet?

Any comments regarding toebox width (when compared to other maximalist shoes of the same US size) or heel slippage?

Also, doss the lack of a lateral flange that @Subway Tennis mentioned seem to be an issue on hard stops?

Thank you!
Nope, they made it to the DFW area and then…we will most likely have a total shut down tomorrow (and possibly Friday)…

Oh no. Didn't Texas already get snowed out once last year? Not very Texas-like :(
Showing possibly 9-11” tomorrow but I think it is exaggerated. We will see.
We have been in the teens (with wind factor) last few nights here.

But this really isn't supposed to be an annual thing right?
Well, we do get annual cold snaps January/February and temps dip into single digits. Mixing that with moisture in the air is less likely. Every now and then, the moisture gets pushed from the Gulf and we get snow.
Last time this really happened was back in 2021 when it caused a complete disaster…

Good luck brotherman!

I would have never ever known about the annual single digit cold snaps until an actual Texan informed me of that. Crazy.

Mine arrived just now. They are shipped in one secure box! I just slipped them on, and as @dr325i said, they are really slipper comfortable. They have a generous toe box and a really nice fit for my foot. Just walking around in them there is a little heel slippage but I expect that to go away once the souls get broken in a bit. Out of the box comfort is really good. These are promising. I purchased the clay souls which come in a black upper. My preference is a white upper, can't explain ordering the black but they do look good. As of right now, they're a good buy for $120.

Thanks to this positive feedback, it looks like my wallet will take another hit when I buy these. :-D

Did you also have heel slippage in the GR8s and/or Blushield 5 (if you have tried those)?

It also looks like there is a full size run again!

Thank you for all the info!

Mine are still stuck somewhere at the PO…and they require a signature and I am on the road next 3 days…
The size 12 available for $85, a killer deal!

You’re welcome. Yes, I had a little help slippage with the Blueshields until they broke in. It’s nothing major in either shoe.
I will say that I don’t have that in the NB CT Rally out of the box. They are my go to shoe at present.

Did you size down from your usual US size and still experienced slippage in the Blushields, or did you go TTS?

Also regarding the GR8: have you tried these and not experienced heel slippage or did you never tried those?

Apologies for a kabillion questions but I swear those two are the LAST ONES!

Out for delivery today, and I am on the way to the airport. Hopefully my wife gets them as they require a signature on delivery
Will be curious to try them on Friday

I ordered a 43 which translates to 9.5. Same with the Blueshields. I pretty much always order 9.5.
I have not tried the GR8.
And no problem!

Played in them today, two sets about 2.5 hours on clay. The best thing about them is I never thought once about them. They were comfortable and supportive. As I thought, the heel slippage was a non-issue once I laced them a little tighter and ran around. They also cleaned up really nicely with the shoe wash afterward. Didn't notice much about ventilation as it's January, but they felt good. The herringbone sole did well, no issues there.

They are laced differently than my usual lacing. The laces go over the shoe and then back through the hole. Maybe it was in my head, but they did feel more comfortable laced like that. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I don't care for non-white tennis shoes but these are pretty slick. I had already decided if they didn't work out on court they were comfortable enough to wear with jeans as a kick arounds.

I am happy with the purchase. I'll hold off recommending them til I have some more miles on them.

So the black ones are better looking in person than the pictures?
I like the design and the white colorway but really need clay and the black looks a tad bland.

Played today on clay and wore my New Balance CT-Rally. I have to say head to head, the NB are more supportive, cushioned and less slipper-like. If you're an older guy like me, you may not need a ton of support. I could play in either shoe. It will be interesting to see how the RS's do when it warms up and I notice the ventilation. I think they might have an edge in that department.

How are the CT-Rally on clay?
They don't look like they'd be great, not super deep or much tread to dig in but I have a friend who uses them and I really like the AO colorway.

My pair finally arrived and putting them on I can definitely say that the fit is perfect. Up front, there is no pressure or rubbing on my toes but does not feel too wide at all (my feet are medium-wide up front.
The cushioning is excellent all around. They sit low. Very comfortable.
Will take them out tomorrow and report how they feel on the court.

Again, a reminder, I have size 12 available (ordered a wrong size previously)

Update:
On the court now and after 90 min:
- they remind me of more comfortable and slightly roomier up front ON RF Pro first iteration.
- they are roomy, definitely NOT for narrow feet. Medium to narrow may even take 1/2 size down.
- my foot is med-wide and I have to tighten my laces now.
- no heel slipping
- they are stable
- not too fast but as someone mentioned, you do not notice them on your feet.
- playing inside, so breathability is not a huge concern, although I’d say they are good in that department…

As a wide footer, these sound like shoes that would work for me. Need to take the plunge and get a pair from overseas. They actually look pretty similar to the original Roger Pro so interesting to hear that you felt they were pretty similar performance wise

I got to try these on but the forefoot wasn’t as wide enough for me as I need. The inflare ran over my outside two toes, a common issue for me and my foot. For reference I’m a Gel 9 user. Otherwise the shoe felt slipper soft on the upper with nice cushioning underneath, but I would almost worry about containment on hard stops - as when I put my insoles into the shoe I felt like my foot was really spilling over too much. But again, this is more of a my-foot thing. This shoe felt to me like it would be a great cross trainer at the gym for the right person/foot.

Man that sucks because I already ordered my unreturnable unsellable pair because dr325i said that the toebox was:
wider than GR9
but you seem to be okay with the GR9?

Just goes to show how different everyone's feet are.

Anyways, time to bust out the shoe stretcher.

They could work for you/others. The midfoot was nicely accommodating. Just that forefoot inflare got me.

I’ve given up trying to figure out what will work/not work based on others. For example the foot doc says he has a wide foot but then claims in almost every review that “actually even a 2E you can go true” for almost everything. When I tried YYs recently I found the supposedly wider Eclipsion to be too narrow on my midfoot, while the supposedly narrow Ad Accel (according to TW) to be actually fine, I think because it’s a more straight last and more gentle toe inflare.

All depends on the quirks of your own foot. I have a very high arch and a wide forefoot. GR9 is a bit tighter on my foot than I would like but good enough to play in in exchange for how good it performs (once I cut out the straps and once the shoe breaks in/molds to the foot more).
