Roddick With His New Stuff...

Ok, Roddick is supposedly using the Pure Drive Roddick now. I was wondering if he is still using lead tape with the new racket seeing that the new one is heavier than the Pure Drive Team. Also has anyone tryed the new Racket, I am sorry for everyone posting about this racket but I am really looking forward to this racket, I dont know why but maybe because he is one of my favorite players. Thanks

Right on my man! Can't wait to get that puppy out on the court!

I strung the new rkts at Davis cup and in Memphis. He still has lead tape at 3 and 9 BUT, It is way less than what it used to be. I did not ask him but I am guessing it is the new stick.

Anyone know if the 'super-powered' Babolat Pure Drive Roddick will elevate him to more than just 'One-Trick-Pony' status?

I hope so.

grant, is this new racket of andys the new Pure Drive 2 babolat was planning on releasing soon?

What Roddick needs to realize is that he does not need a new racket. I seriously believe his downfall began when he switched to the pro hurricane string. In his magical year of 2003, I believe he used babolat natural gut. He was ripping everything! Now almost every groundstroke he hits from the baseline rarely clears the serviceline. I believe the string he uses now has robbed him of both power and feel. Everyone is saying that he needs to work on his footwork because he looks like he is out of position. I don't care how fast you are, but if every groundstroke you hit barely clears the service line, you will be out of position for the next shot, especially in the pros

You are correct. In 2003 he switched and right after he had an elbow issue, so they lowered the tension. He needs something, his game has really dropped or others have past him. Would be a easy change!

PD Roddick

I tried this racket the other day. Didn't like it as much as the old pure drive, because the new material they used is like on the aeropro drive. I like the old material better.

yeah i think there were a few more factors then strings, but yeah it is no coincidense, i would like to c him use natural gut and stop tinkerin wit his game , get back to his original game.....

Grant,
When you strung Roddick at the Davis Cup, do his "Blue Hurricane" was in half set or in reel?

One of the shops near where I work said that they were supposed to get it March 1. So they're expecting it to show up anytime now.

HIs is on a reel. But you have to remember he deals with Babolat world wide, not US. I dont know if they sell it over seas on a reel or if it is just something they do for him. I know for traveling the reels are way easier to deal with on the road.

I am playing with Aero Pro drive and I have tested the new PDR.
Although I never used the old model so I can't compare it, I didn't like the new stick. It may be great for big servers but It was a lot heavier than my racquet, they added 15-20g I think so that may be the reason why Andy doesn't have as much as lead tape as before.
