Roddick's wrist

About a year ago, I posted on this very board that in the near future, Roddick would have either wrist or elbow problems. I could tell from his delivery and what I know about repetitive use injuries. Now he has had both injuries in the past 6 months and it gets even worse with age. He needs to find a good soft tissue release therapist if he wants to keep playing at the same level.

But arent all players in danger of "repetitive use injuries" or do see something in Roddicks serve action?

Andre, Boris Becker, Marat Safin, kim Clijsters all had same injury (many more).. you must be have made same predication for all.. everybody face (who play tennis) some kind of inquiry..

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) -- Andy Roddick's tender right wrist looked fine when he angrily swatted a ball into the upper deck, then slammed his racket to the hardcourt.

But the wrist hurt too much for Roddick to finish his opening match Friday at the Nasdaq-100 Open. Frustrated and fearful of risking further injury, the defending champion retired....

Now honestly, I like Roddick, but it's just plain dumb to let your emotions get the better of you on the tennis court and to take direct action against an already injured wrist.

OUCH! btw, who's his latest?

I don't know what the hell raftermania is talking about, with the looks of roddick's new gf, we should be expecting a hip injury, now a wrist injury.

When did Andy injure his elbow?

He injured his wrist at 5-5 in the first set, really don't think the racquet smashing did anything to make it worse. He said it hurt most on his second serve and his forehand. Doesn't sound too serious and he expects to be back in a few weeks. Hopefully that's all it will be. Hewitt should be back around that time. Interesting, in his press conference Andy alluded to the fact that he did not plan to play Monte Carlo. Probably not a smart plan, skipping a Masters.

All those points to defend down the drain, the intimidation factor gone, wouldn't be surprised if he's out of the top 10 by year's end.

Fee, Andy injured his elbow in his semifinal match with Safin at the Thailand Open 2004. He won that match, but lost to Federer in the final 6-4, 6-0. In the second set Roddick's elbow really started to bother him.

BTW, isn't Roddick single these days? He said so on Leno...

Fernando Verdasco like Hewitt has Roddick's number. From now on Fernando will be put in the Federer side. Tournament committee is very upset about losing Roddick.

Last week Verdasco played Roddick 3 close sets and Verdasco lost in the 3rd set tiebreaker. He had a good shot of beating Roddick. This week he won the first set and was up a break, before Roddick blew up and quit.

Therefore, I doubt if Roddick plays Verdasco from now on. Roddick past draws shows he only draws players he consistently beats until the Semi's, then he loses.

i don't think Verdasco has Roddick's number...yet. Hewitt? yes he's got Roddick's number alright.
well, personally i'm not upset to lose Roddick in this or every tournament. his blend of tennis has got to be the most boring to watch. IMHO.

if he going to skip mento carlos masters he will not be number 1 unless he win US OPEN , WB and rest of big tournament.. given Roger won't win (highly not possible)

Verdasco is a tough challenge for Roddick because he is a lefty with a great forehand. Roddick can't hit his backhand down the line so whenever they have long rallies Verdasco's forehand tends to prevail.

he will always get a cakewalk draw at the us open, so its not out of reach. the usta will do whatever they can to insure he has a chance. dont forget the the summer hardcourt series, alot of pts on amercian soil where things always seem togo roddicks way.
