Rodrigo's string reviews

Rodrigo,

after reading through this thread, would I be right to assume the following strings to be one the soft side:

SPPP
Polyfibre Hexablade
Polystar Energy
Polystar Classic
Polyfibre TCS
Genesis Black Magic
Volkl Cyclone
Tourna Big Hitter Blue

Would you rank them based on power, spin and comfort level?

Cheers

There's nothing soft about Cyclone. That string definitely shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as "soft".

of these poly star energy is the softest... I would say both poly star strings at top, followed by BHB, SPPP, Black magic, hexablade and then cyclone.

For power, poly star energy is by far the bets for that
spin- i would say cyclone
comfort- poly star energy

Here are the reviews for the strings guys!

Genesis Trionic Review
String was strung on Head YouTek Radical Pro at 54 lbs.
Stringing: Not bad at all. Deinately not as easy as a syn gut or multi but way easier than any of the twisted strings out there.
Ground Strokes: This is where this string shines. It offers incredible amount of control and spin, just the perfect combination for my game. With it being low-powered and slightly on the stiffer side, I was able to swing out more and the balls were still landing in.
Volleys: Shaped strings are never good for volleys, as they are designed for baseliners but my volleys weren’t too bad. Of course, a softer poly or a hybrid with syn gut would make the net game better for any player

Serves: Excellent for slice serves but not that great for flat serves
Power: 8/10 Average. Need to drop tension another 1-2lbs and this will be a 10
Spin: 10/10 Among the best out there
Durability: 9/10 Lasted 15 hours and did not break which is excellent for me.
Control: 9/10 Pretty good control
Comfort/Feel- 8.5/10 This is a shaped poly after all, drop a couple of pounds, go with the 18 gauge and you found gold
Tension Stability- 8/10 It’s a poly… Period.
Price Performance- 10/10 under $8 for a set or $85 for a reel.. you go find me a better valued poly!!!!

One strings carbon nrg review
String was strung on Head YouTek Radical Pro at 57 lbs.
Stringing: I had to try this string 3 times! First set was too short (I’m an experienced stringer and it was NOT my fault, string was simply short!). Second time, string popped while stringing (this never happened to me before). 3rd time was a success
Ground Strokes: String is just average in this department. I didn’t feel that it was as crisp as some other similar strings out there. String gave me no bite at all either.
Volleys: Not bad at all, better volleys than I expected.

Serves: I served decent with this string
Power: 8/10 Average.
Spin: 6/10 Pretty horrible in my experience
Durability: 6/10 Broke after 3 hours.. When you factor in the string defects, this string is depressing
Control: 7/10 Decent but nothing spectacular
Comfort/Feel- 8.5/10 Better than most of the shaped/twisted polys out there
Tension Stability- 7/10 Only lasted me 3 hours, cant comment on it
Price Performance- 4/10 Horrible experience with this string and it breaking. I don’t see on TW how much it sells for but I remember it being north of $12 or so for set, this garbage should be on the clearance rack at 50% and I may consider trying it again.. Horrible decision by TW for carrying this string as it is simply not good, better products out there from other brands.

Double AR Diablo Review
String was strung on Head YouTek Radical Pro at 60 lbs.
Stringing: Very easy. String is soft and a breeze
Ground Strokes: Strong was just too soft for me. A bit mushy too. It lacked the pop I like to have in a string. With that being said,
Volleys: Pretty nice in this department. This string is soft so volleys were a breeze.

Serves: 8/10 Serves were good but I lacked the “pop”
Power: 7/10 No liveliness to them, too soft for my liking
Spin: 8/10 It was average, actually much better than I was expecting
Durability: 7.5/10 Lasted 8 hours which is slightly below average for me.
Control: 9/10 Pretty good control
Comfort/Feel- 9.5/10 Great string for feel and comfort
Tension Stability- 8/10 Just average in this department plus I broke it in under 8 hours..
Price Performance- 7/10 $13 aint cheap my friends and I didn’t feel that its performance lived up to its premium price tag. Have no idea what the reels of this go by but if over $150, there are much better alternatives out there at the same or lower price tag.

Kirschbaum Max Power Review
String was strung on Head YouTek Radical Pro at 58 lbs.
Stringing: Middle of the road- not the toughest but not the easiest to string either
Ground Strokes: Pretty good for the groundies.. Was able to get good control on my spots and the balls were flying with some pop which was nice
Volleys: Nothing special, just OK in my book

Serves: 9/10 Serves were pretty good with this string
Power: 8/10 Was able to get some nice pop
Spin: 8/10 It was average
Durability: 9/10 Lasted 13 hours which is slightly above average for me.
Control: 9/10 Pretty good control
Comfort/Feel- 8/10 Nothing special here
Tension Stability- 8/10 Better than the other kirschabum strings but not as good as say signum pro or genesis or weisscanoon
Price Performance- 7/10 $14 aint cheap either.. I know Kirschbaum always seems to have some sort of promotion going on their strings which makes it a better value

You've got to have set a PR with that!! You not having tried any of these strings AND being on the same string for several months now? wow, :)

I must be having a mid-life crisis! Thanks for the reviews, I may have to try the trionic the next time I feel the itch.

Going to be trying a couple different strings in the utlra-thin gauges and low tensions and see how they play.. First ones on the list are volkl cyclone 19 and genesis trionic 1.20 (my buddy had a lot of love for this one at low tension)

Hey Rodrigo! Have you ever used Apollo strings? I've just switched to their titanium pro and its great. Would like to know your opinion on them.

I have not and honestly never even heard of those strings. I'd try them out and give my opinion but do not think any of the stores in the states offer them..

I did try the Revolution a while back and thought it was a good string, much softer and better playability than their other offerings. RPM is just overpriced garbage IMO, poly tour pro is VERY good and never tried alu feel

There's nothing soft about Cyclone. That string definitely shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as "soft".

I've been playing with Cyclone 18 for the past 2 months and I gotta say that it is definitely on the soft side. It might not be the softer poly out there but sure as hell isn't hard on the arm
