Should Rafa end up with 1 more slam than Fed when all is said and done, that moment will symbolize his failed struggle in the GOAT race.
And a reminder of his own arrogant finger wag to Novak in RG 2011.
That's almost a given.

What was the finger wag about?
Compared to Fed, that’s nothingYou speak like Nadal and Djokovic never lost important matches.

Without Fed’s unclutchness, it would have been Fed leading by 4 pr 5 slams by now.Should be 21-20-19 now.
It hurts.
The scar tissue remains, though.Time heals all wounds.
The two slams he absolutely choked away massively were USO 2009 and Wimbledon 2019. He also played horribly on big points at AO 2009 and Wimbledon 2014, but he was playing two of the greatest players ever.Without Fed’s unclutchness, it would have been Fed leading by 4 pr 5 slams by now.
I think that 26 is an acceptable number of Fed slams, with which I could have been a more fulfilled person as times go by, and as I get older and grumpier. The two slams he absolutely choked away massively were USO 2009 and Wimbledon 2019. We can't count his two massive USO chokes against Djokovic with MP's because those were semis and Rafa awaited in the final in a period where Nadal mentally owned him. So really, Federer should 100% be on 22 slams, but 26 slams is a stretch.

26 would work for me too, but the only 6 that were winnable that he lost were:I think that 26 is an acceptable number of Fed slams, with which I could have been a more fulfilled person as times go by, and I get older and grumpier.
I think that if Fed had won the first set of the 2011 RG final, RG 2011 was more winnable than Wimbledon 2014 final. But I think most people don’t agree with me.26 would work for me too, but the only 6 that were winnable that he lost were:
2019 Wimbledon
2009 USO
2009 AO
2008 Wimbledon

Some will think 2011 FO was winnable, but I don't think Fed was ever beating Rafa on Chatrier.

I was pretty confident that Federer would win the 2014 Wimbledon final. I thought he had way too much variety on grass for Djokovic. In hindsight, it was a very important match in tennis history. At the time, the major count was 17 for Federer, 14 for Nadal and 6 for Djokovic. Djokovic hadn't won a major since the 2013 Australian Open.I think that if Fed had won the first set of the 2011 RG final, RG 2011 was more winnable than Wimbledon 2014 final. It was an older Federer against a younger ATG in his prime. No way was he a favorite in that final.I was pretty confident that Federer would win the 2014 Wimbledon final. You really are lame, aren't you? This thread is FANTASTIC. Beautiful tears from the Fraudsexuals, man.
Quite the opposite with 2014 Wimb. Fed was very clutch in that one. Djokovic was just the better player. The two slams he absolutely choked away massively were USO 2009 and Wimbledon 2019. He also played horribly on big points at AO 2009 and Wimbledon 2014, but he was playing two of the greatest players ever.

You cannot be serious- LOL! Losing like that, especially to Novak had to be extremely depressing for Roger. To be honest it's interesting people are still talking about it. As I remember many Federer fans agreed that Federer's goal in Wimbledon 2019 was to beat Nadal in the semifinals, and it doesn't really matter what happens in the final. Well, so they got exactly what they wanted. Why complain now?
I don't deny that Fed was massacred in the last set.Federer got bulldozed to smithereens in the 4th set. Don't think he had nearly enough in the tank to win 2011.
No. First inside out forehand goes in. Always.4 First Serves. Always.
Well he was, and most of the public backed Federer to win the match. I saw no reason why it wouldn't be similar to their 2012 Wimbledon semi final. It was an older Federer against a younger ATG in his prime. No way was he a favorite in that final.
Well, how about the fact that Federer changed as a player after 2012 and was in a slamidosis period himself back then.Well he was, and most of the public backed Federer to win the match. I saw no reason why it wouldn't be similar to their 2012 Wimbledon semi final.
Perhaps, but he did beat Djokovic at 2012 Wimbledon in 4 sets in the semis, and was now playing Djokovic in a Wimbledon final in 2014. Grass was Federer's best surface. Djokovic might have been doing well week to week, but he hadn't won a major in 17 months at the time and was under pressure to win another one. It's why he hired Becker as a coach, and it didn't get off to the best of starts as he lost his Australian Open title and failed to win the French Open title.Well, how about the fact that Federer changed as a player after 2012 and was in a slamidosis period himself back then.
Federer wasn't in a better place. Had a horrible 2013 and hadn't won a slam for 2 years.Perhaps, but he did beat Djokovic at 2012 Wimbledon in 4 sets in the semis, and was now playing Djokovic in a Wimbledon final in 2014. Fed was very average from the baseline, his serve saved him a lot.Quite the opposite with 2014 Wimb. Fed was very clutch in that one. Djokovic was just the better player.
It is well known that Djokovic didn't meet Fed in a single one of the latter's best Wimb years. The fact that their first ever Wimb F happened 11 years after Fed won his first title says it all.Fed was very average from the baseline, his serve saved him a lot.
I still think that people think that Djokovic beating Federer at Wimbledon somehow proves that he's superior. The guy is 6 years younger than him. If you reversed their ages it would be like 2007 Federer playing 2019 Djokovic or 2009 Federer playing 2021 Djokovic.
And if you took their first meeting it would be like 2006 Federer playing 2018 Djokovic.
2012 was somewhat resembling prime Fed and Fed beat him in the SF. In 2015 Fed was actually in great form, but he played a crapola final and Djokovic played probably as well as he possibly could in that final. It is well known that Djokovic didn't meet Fed in a single one of the latter's best Wimb years. The fact that their first ever Wimb F happened 11 years after Fed won his first title says it all.
Djokovic got away with Thiem and Med in AO finals at similar ages.
He was playing much better in 2014 than 2013. It's Wimbledon, it's grass, Federer seems obvious favourite.Federer wasn't in a better place. Had a horrible 2013 and hadn't won a slam for 2 years.
Tears of joy I'm sure.I know how he feels. I cry every time Djokovic wins a match.
Better, but below his lofty standatds still. He was playing much better in 2014 than 2013. It's Wimbledon, it's grass, Federer seems obvious favourite.
I think that 26 is an acceptable number of Fed slams, with which I could have been a more fulfilled person as times go by, and as I get older and grumpier.
I definitely think that Federer could have won more slams if his confidence wasn’t affected by Nadal early surge.I remember as far back as 2004 AELTC, after Federer beat Karlovic, at the press conference the conversation strayed onto the slam record and Fed himself noted Rosewall and Laver, in particular, missing opportunites because of the pro era. Fed himself said that "Anyone who wins 25 slams has made their point".
So he was already back then thinking in terms of 20+ slams as entirely doable, and 25+ as the outer edge.
He was hoping for a different effect...His inexplicable losses only add to his legend.
He could have lost Wimbledon in 2004, 2007, 2009, 2012, but his fans thought their idol was invincible, but he never was.Good list. I’d rank them :
2019 Wimbledon
2009 USO. ( Was in complete control)
2008 Wimbledon. ( Could have went either way)
2014 Wimbledon ( Had chances to break in 5th)
2009 AO. (Ran out of gas in the 5th)
2015 Wimbledon.
throw in these SF
2011 USO. Double Match pt
2010 USO Double Match pt
2005 AO (Serving Match pt v Safin in 4th
Would have steamrolled Hewitt in Final)
Easily could be on 23-24.
Net cord.i'm still crying internally. i swear he could have served under hand or something or i wish he took a page out of nick's book and asked teh audience where to serve
