Roger Federer dumped Tiger Woods after his divorce

What's the big deal with Tiger Woods' private life? It's his own personal business. What I don't like are these companies pushing sportspeople forward as the "perfect role model with wife and kids" etc when it's a completely fake image. I'd rather sportspeople be themselves.
"Sportspeople be(ing) themselves" would not, in most cases, sell a lot of product. Fans want their heroes to be worthy of their adulation, even though we all know the likelihood of that being true is pretty small. Tiger must have worked really hard to maintain his facade for as long as he did - aided, no doubt, by people whose living depended on his image remaining pristine. It's amazing he got away with it as long as he did.

It is a big deal when Tiger presented himself as the perfect role model with a clean cut image in order to sell products. People buy those products based on the "image" being projected. At the end of the day it turns out Tiger was a fraud.

Very few superstar athletes are what their image-makers portray them as. People get sucked into "the image" and don't realize 9 times out of 10 that image has nothing or llttle to do with the real person.

I had no idea this subject was in debate. I haven't followed the Tiger Woods story closely, but the impression I had was that at least some of the women were call girls. Certainly, based on photos, I'd wager none of them were accountants.

I haven't followed it much either...sure they look like ****s but did he actually pay for the sex? did they prostitute themselves to him?

Don't think Mirka would appreciate Federer hanging out with Tiger after all the sex scandals...

Why not? I really don't get why people are so moralistic about adultery in this day and age. Okay, so Tiger cheated on his wife and bedded a string of women. It's his business. It doesn't change the fact that he's the same man he's always been, and a golfer like he's always been. The companies who put forward images of Tiger Woods as the "perfect family man" knew they were pushing forward a fake image. Some of these companies then dump him at the first sign of negative publicity.

Alot of rich sportsman use protitutes, you know what you're getting. If you start chasing other women they might want a relationship.

Tiger was hanging out with call girls, hookers and porn stars. LOL. Very exciting stuff but not someone a mother of 2 girls like Mirka would like to be buddies with her husband. Whatever Federer does he is very careful with it, I'm sure..

The sponsors are always behind the marketing of an athlete. These are multi-billion dollar companies. Do you think they just randomly take a chance on an athlete's own persona? Of course not. They help manufacture an image, an image that they think will sell the most product and will best fit with the athlete. It is huge business for all involved.

If the athlete screws up, of course many of the sponsors are going to drop him/her. It is all about making money. If they feel they can't capitalize on the investment from the athlete, the athlete is dropped in a minute.

What was the "infamous Thanksgiving night incident" in 2009?

Something to do with Tiger Woods running away from his wife who was wielding a golf club. Woods got into his car and crashed it into a tree, getting himself hospitalised. It then got into the public domain that Tiger had committed adultery with a string of women.

On the program I watched on the downfall of Tiger Woods, it was mentioned that IMG tried to pay off the Enquirer (this was the publication that first leaked the story about Tiger cheating) from going forward with the scandal but the Enquirer would not go for it. It had its sources and everything lined up like clockwork.

Thanks, being in London, didn't think of the Thanksgiving angle, but yes know about that incident.

I remember when it was first reported and Tiger tried to manage the story, that it was something much bigger than they were first letting on.

Roger has a wife and kids. He can't be seen texting or talking to a broken, desperate man like Tiger.
People can and some do, redeem themselves. Whatever sins Tiger may have committed in the past, IMO, he should be forgiven if he has changed his ways. From what I recall his biggest sin was adultery. Trump, John Kennedy and Bill Clinton were all serious adulators, yet became President of the US. Clinton even got reelected! Hopefully, Trump will not for reasons other than his sin of adultery.

Fed doesn't even have time for close friends. He is on the tour all the time and any spare time he has uses to spend it with his family, apart from some close friends in Basel.

Hey, Tiger was a loser who couldn't keep his slags in line. Roger has a reputation for
excellence to consider. Tiger aimed really low. Tiger wasn't doing porn's leading ladies,
he was doing blond no. 3 in an orgy scene. It wouldn't have been long before he was
hanging out with the fluffers. Too low class for a standard bearer like Roger. If Tiger
had had better taste in whores they could've worked out a deal and stayed friends.

This is what I love about Fed, he is nice, but tough, if someone is bad influence he just kills a relationship swiss precision style.

They never were friends it was something that Nike tried to push together. I'm sure Tiger doesn't care about being friends with Roger.

It may be true but for a strictly different reason. I would imagine it was Roger AND Mirka that visited Tiger and his wife, after the divorce it may have just been uncomfortable for it to be the 3 of them and not a foursome. It happens often to people that get divorces, their married friends move on, it isn't "distancing" it's just that they all just lost something in common.

I do recall tiger and his wife sitting with mirka in the stands. Of course the Federer's sided with the wife and tiger isolated himself.
