"Roger Federer is the most beautiful player I've ever watched." —John McEnroe

Federer's Wimbledon absence is making folks wax nostalgic for gloriously aesthetic, lethal, attacking tennis. :notworthy:

But the tennis icon didn't stop there:

"Roger Federer is a living legend. We all know that. He is the most beautiful player I've ever watched play. I idolised [Rod] Laver. He is kind of an updated Laver to me."

Truer words have never been spoken.

I mean, it’s obvious that Roger’s tennis is the most aesthetically pleasing of atleast the 21st century. Not sure anyone would argue with that. He is definitely the best player to watch. Even his routine rally forehand is beautiful.

While Roger might have been the most graceful player, perhaps ever, who is the best player to watch depends on the style of play a viewer prefers. I personally prefer athleticism and strength to finesse, so Rafa is my favorite. That should take away nothing from Roger's aesthetics, or the fans who love him.

That's why it's nice to have different styles so everyone can find someone they really love to watch at their best. The more variety, the better the sport.

Steffi had the most pleasing aesthetic look in terms of her game. She literally glided across the court like she was playing on water

Fantastic player to watch when in full flow, was just eclipsed by two younger, stronger athletes who were a bit better.
