"Roger Federer is the most beautiful player I've ever watched." —John McEnroe

Federer's Wimbledon absence is making folks wax nostalgic for gloriously aesthetic, lethal, attacking tennis. :notworthy:

But the tennis icon didn't stop there:

"Roger Federer is a living legend. We all know that. He is the most beautiful player I've ever watched play. I idolised [Rod] Laver. He is kind of an updated Laver to me."

More beautiful than Matteo with those brown eyes and that cheeky smile? I don’t think so

I'm sure you noticed him here:

I don't see anyone besides the player holding a racket with his left hand.

It's true and we didn't need McEnroe to say that to believe it.
Rewatch the 2005 US Open final against Agassi. Fed was an absolute beast of beauty.
Although I must admit Wawrinka has a more beautiful backhand than Fed.

Not to mention Gasquet... But the rest of Federer's game is gorgeous, truly one of the most beautiful ever.

Let me see is I can make sense of this senseless statement made by John McEnroe.

John Mc, already claimed a few months ago that Djokovic was the goat, Nadal is changing that view, not Federer.

But Johnny "strapped for cash" McEnroe, decided that it makes good economic sense to praise Federer.

Reason being the Laver cup, Johnny is one of the captains, and with a revenue of over $35 million, it sure is a well paid job.

Federer being one of the owners, when needed for an ego boost, can always count on good old Johnny.

Hence the brown nosing.

Federer, laver, McEnroe, a love triangle. All for the love of money.

When on Sampras did everything a bit better than Federer. The difference was Federer could play his best tennis far more consistently than Sampras.
But aesthetically Sampras is unmatched.

John's words actually made me think that so often Federer is called an artist, but just him playing tennis is art in itself. The way Federer moves, his technique, his facial expressions. If you watch in slow motion, Roger often looks like a painting coming alive.

In the gif you posted his follow-through looks awkward actually - the shrugging shoulders, the head going down, the oddly positioned left hand, the place where his racket ends... Next time I suggest you use the one with a forehand or volley.

This. His poker face never gave away a struggle to hit any shot. Sublime stuff to watch. Also he has extremely shapely legs which makes it look like ballet when he glides around the court.

The part before the follow-through is what I'm focusing on because it looks amazing. I wasn't trying to find a perfect gif, just the that conveyed my point in general.

I swear I am not one to objectify people's looks apnd parts of their bodies, but Federer's legs just stand out to me. :X3: The shape, but also how the muscles ripple when he moves. Maybe it's because you kind of see the strength hidden behind the seemingly light and smooth moves.

In the gif you can see clearly that it was mishit, he hit it with the frame, crystal clear.

Meanwhile, we are terribly shocked and offended for the things somebody says in the pursuit of earning his bonus payments.
