McEnroe the most superlative loving sportscaster I have ever heard
Fed's opponent. Post #26:Hi, madam, nice to meet you in this thread.
Someone caught your interest?
But not the most grazeful. Most graceful without doubt.
Are you talking about Sureshserer? This. His poker face never gave away a struggle to hit any shot. Sublime stuff to watch. Also he has extremely shapely legs which makes it look like ballet when he glides around the court.
They say after the first week the grass of Centre Court is like clay, but when Sureshs plays it only takes a few hours. But not the most grazeful.![]()
McEnroe for every time he says something proper, he says something that goes beyond pale.Meanwhile, we are terribly shocked and offended for the things somebody says in the pursuit of earning his bonus payments.
That might be so but he is right, Fed moves so gracefully and with almost perfect technique that his slow motion videos are shown every day to players around the world as an example of how to hit any shot, he is like a computer designed player who's purpose is to have the perfect game.McEnroe for every time he says something proper, he says something that goes beyond pale.
But he is an intelligent person, and has if not always, almost always a good reason when he states something.
In this case, his reason for his $ss licking is crystal clear.
Laver Cup is a money making event, over $35 million.
Captaincy, was programmed for 3 years, those 3 years already elapsed, and now the extension of the contracts is done on a year by year basis.
McEnroe needs the job, he's got no sponsors that I'm aware of, besides Nike, and he's got a large family.
That's the reason he's brown nosing 1 of the owners of the LC, Federer.
I'm neither shocked, nor offended, by his statement. Just making a commentary of his real reasons to say what he said.
In the gif you can see clearly that it was mishit, he hit it with the frame, crystal clear.
I agree on Federer being a very graceful player. That might be so but he is right, Fed moves so gracefully and with almost perfect technique that his slow motion videos are shown every day to players around the world as an example of how to hit any shot, he is like a computer designed player who's purpose is to have the perfect game.
He's the reason the one handed backhand refuses to die and why young players keep it alive.
If you open that gif in a new tab, and magnify it, you'll see clearly that he hits the ball first with the flat side of the frame, so technically is not a shank,That too? I didn't pay attention. His topspin backhands are often mishits.
Same here. Agreed. Although I hope John meant beautiful as in the artistry of the shot. He makes some gorgeous shots.I agree on Federer being a very graceful player.
But I never ever call him "the most beautiful"
Regarding 1hbh (I play with a 1hbh long before Roger was born) I'll tell you that Alcaraz has always stated the Roger is his idol, nevertheless he plays
with a 2hbh.
Same as above ^^When I think about a good 1hbh, Wawrinka when he is on,comes to my mind before Federer, Thiem too.
Federer slice is unparalleled, specially attacking slice, defensive also top, Nadal's defensive slice is up there with Roger's.Same here. Agreed. Although I hope John meant beautiful as in the artistry of the shot. He makes some gorgeous shots.
We've all heard the comments during a match from Pat McEnroe, Gilbert and others gasp in amazement and not believe some of Fed's shots or say that shot was sick.
Same as above ^^
However, Fed has probably the best BH slices ever for the men. Graf for the women . I developed a great one too from my coach telling me to approach the net back in the 90s like Pete & Edberg. I love being able to use both with ease.
If you open that gif in a new tab, and magnify it, you'll see clearly that he hits the ball first with the flat side of the frame, so technically is not a shank,
but it is a mishit.
It's unbelievable how many times Roger mishits, specially under pressure.
Looks graceful even when whiffing and slipping!Poetry in motion.

I think his backhand looks very nice on his good days but even during his peak he often somehow looked a bit tentative with that shot. Like he didn't have full confidence to rip it and I guess that's what you see in the follow-through sometimes.Sure, but I was talking about the aesthetics of his shot. The contact point and follow-through, it always looks awkward. The backhand I mean, his forehand is a thing of beauty of course.
I agree, Wawa has a better bh but is not what I mean, I say that Fed has so many fans that his bh influences many people into adopting a one hander regardless of it being the best.I agree on Federer being a very graceful player.
But I never ever call him "the most beautiful"
Beautiful is not the kind of adjective I'd use to qualify a man (me being a man)
Calling him, not only beautiful, but the most beautiful, is over the top.
Maybe Johnny Mc now is swinging both sides of the box.
Regarding 1hbh (I play with a 1hbh long before Roger was born) I'll tell you that Alcaraz has always stated the Roger is his idol, nevertheless he plays
with a 2hbh.
When I think about a good 1hbh, Wawrinka when he is on,comes to my mind before Federer, Thiem too.
In the year 2000, Federer was 1 of my favorites players, so I like Federer.
Maria Kirilenko, actually
I think his backhand looks very nice on his good days but even during his peak he often somehow looked a bit tentative with that shot. Like he didn't have full confidence to rip it and I guess that's what you see in the follow-through sometimes.
Very true. The most extensive highlight reel of all time!Watching Roger Federer play tennis is poetry in motion, patiently waiting and looking forward to watching him play a competitive match again.
At least there is still YouTube to rewatch some of his best matches over the years![]()
Very true. The most extensive highlight reel of all time!
Imagine some kid happening upon this archival footage in like 2222 (on Mars, natch):
"Wait, they could do that back then?"
Julie Andrews crushed that. It's true, my friend. The courts truly were alive with the sound of Federer.
