They all(as in the Big Four) sound confident. They all have their PR spiel down.

Thats just what I was thinking! They are all relaxed ansd confident! And saying the same thing in a different way!

No doubt, they have all appeased their sponsors!

Exactly. Has Federer ever said he felt like crap before a slam? Or have any of the big four players said that before a slam?

They say the same scripted nonsense year after year.

Hence Gulbis saying the top guys are boring! Reality is that Roger and Rafa, who are most popular, are kinda boring with their congenial rivalry. It kinda screwed all other players!

Folks love Gulbis for his non filtered commentary! I am sure the other players appreciate it for his jazzing up the convo for interviews.

LOL. You have to love Roger's optimism. He says something like that every year. :)

And you know what? I wouldn't like it if he didn't. Somebody has to be super-confident around here.

So true, who wants to hear, I am only hear to appease my sponsor, and dont want to play surface X!

When will Rafa say my knees are hurting. When that happens I will put him among the favorites to win GS again.:) This everything is fine thing is a little bit worrisome for me.:D

Arrongonterer in da house again implying he would have won last year's final if he'd been fully fit and playing his best. You really can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I'm expecting to see at least half a dozen messages in my Alerts box in the morning for this comment from irate Fed fans but I really don't care. As an aside, Roger is one of the cattiest straight men I've ever seen in my life. Reminds me of a guy I met recently on holiday in Tunisia with his girlfriend. I'm sure if the two of us met up we'd get on like a house on fire.

Well, he played an awesome final last year, even though he lost. If he playes the same level, he has a realistic chance of winning. Another year with the racquet has helped too.

Didnt Nadal say before AO that he doesn't feel near back to his full level and he wasn't going to win the title and that Novak and Andy are the favorites?

Actually Federer and Djokovic were both fumbling around in the final. Djokovic was struggling to get majors dry spell off his back and Federer was just serving lights out. Djokovic prob of he did not choke out a couple times should have taken it in 4. Djokovic career in the majors was seriously on the line in that final.

Novak should have won in 3-4 against Fed.

Nobody will believe Federer is in better shape than he was 5 years ago. However, the important thing for him is to get as well ready as he can, and looks like he couldn't have prepared himself any better under the circumstances. That's a good thing to know.

He always says this, one of the classiest players of all time. No excuses to rob the fans of a great upset like we see with other players.

What do you expect him to say ? He's just won Halle ? Should he say he is injured and sick ? Should he say his form is crap and he doesn't want to think about tennis at the moment ?

Jeez, you guys are critical no matter what he says or does.

If Roger or Nole gave out "unfiltered commentary" you'd be all over them for that, just as you chaps hate Nole for tearing his shirt off ...

Meh, if it's mind games or not (probably a bit of both). He's been saying his practice sessions are going really well (Kyrgios, Berdych, Hewitt, etc) and is feeling confident with his game right now, and not to mention the racquet. Boost of confidence from Halle helped as well...

He almost lost to Kohlschreiber.. Seriously sometimes I feel like he watches the world through rose-tinted glasses that make it seem like every loss of his is perfectly explainable by some kind of injury or fatigue that DEFINITELY won't happen this time around. How the hell is he so confident all the time? Is there a professional hypnotist in his team?

If you havent noticed fed is a chameleon in reguards to the other players abilities. Kohlschreiber has a better 1h than fed, it had to affect him. He is very stubborn in his shot selection, always trys to one up with their style.

Im just glad he finally gave up on his 1h backhand vs nadals forehand, never seen someone that fixated on trying to prove a point.

I guess he needs that in order to be so successful. Doubting yourself and your capabilities usually leads to a huge mental block so I do see the needs in doing this, though I do not necessarily agree with what he is saying.

I do find his tiebreak record on grass so far very pleasing. He will need to be clutch in tiebreaks given how his return ability has deteriorated. We'll see I guess, I just am hoping for an enjoyable tournament (and of course hoping that Roger plays good tennis).

correct, everytime he says this he will go onto lose

Damn, Hewitt's been practicing non stop. Fed, Kyrgios, Tomic, plus he's been at SW19 for the past 6 weeks or something

Djokovic could be in trouble this Wimbledon in the early rounds.

I think he'd better keep it for himself. Otherwise imagine his press conference if he loses in the 1st round and gets asked about this comment.

Ohw well it is better then telling everyone for years that you are the underdog and not the favourite and have injuries everywhere

Would be devastating for sure, although I still think getting confident right now is a good thing.

He said that was because of the extra week. Then he actually proceeded to say that many of the other guys if not all of them would feel better with the extra week.

Half the game is won with belief. One reason Fed wins so much is because he believes truly that he is superior to everyone else. At the same time he knows that losses are part of sport and that he has to move on. Perfect combo if you ask me.

Federer at his best on grass is never losing to Djokovic. Do you seriously doubt that ?
