Roger Federer looked strong in his opening round match

I just watched the highlights:

He looked great but that is to be expected against lower opposition. His problem has been Nadal and Djokovic at the AO. I think if his BH keeps up the form we saw in this match, he could have a great chance. He needs to keep using the slice during the rallies to keep Djokovic off balance. Look at the damage the slice did to Novak in USO13. Of course, Djokovic is playing better now but it is better than giving him a flat or topspin shot most of the time as Djokovic is the king of the baseline these days.

I like his outfit as well as green is my fav color :)

Here's hoping Fed keeps up the form.

To be fair he tends to look like this in opening rounds of grand slams - he always tends to MURDER weaker opponents as opposed to maybe Nadal.

Fed had the easiest possible 1st round. Of course he looked great. Let's see what he looks like vs a decent opponent.

What was his 1st serve percentage? That's the ONE aspect he HAVE to improve if he doesn't want to lose to Djokovic in straights.

Doesn't matter....It will drop against Novak.....Grandpa will find a way to make his life uncomfortable against the Numero Uno

No matter how well Djokovic is playing, Federer with a 70%+ or 1st serves will always have a chance against Djokovic. Except at RG, where he definitely doesn't stand a chance.

Thing is, Federer has been lowering his 1st serve numbers since Wimbledon final (looks like he drained his serve power after that semis against Murray) and the hand of big server Ljubicic is yet to be seen.

He needs to recover his 1st serve is if wants to have a small chance.

Good start by Fed, but it is only 1st rd against a player outside top 100. Let's not get carried away. If Federer didn't win like that, it would've been a major concern.

rather have Kyrgios face Djoker honestly. He has the serve to do it, Fed's serve has been MIA for a while now. If Kyrgios can serve his bombs at 70% which he did yesterday and goes for it off the ground he has more chance than anyone in this half.

So who's gonna have the shot of the match in Fed v. Dog?

I'm also worried about that match. Fed's return isn't what it used to be; almost guaranteed the match will be at night making it that much tougher on him to pick up the Kyrgios serve. Might end up being a tiebreak contest.
