The article lost all credibility when the quoted Roger as saying ''Obviously I would like to keep all my records but it's not realistic'' and then underneath claimed that the quote was from Rafael Nafal.... and no, I didn't make a spelling error there.
Just read thru
Didn’t see this

That would suggest that an article in the Express had any credibility in the first place. Roger must surely have a realistic sense of the possibilities anyway.

I honestly once saw a quote from someone about Pete Sampras something like "Pete thought 14 was enough but it turned out his career was a waste." What did that person ever achieve in their life that gave them the right to sneer at that?????

Hardly surprising. We get bonehead comments like that regularly from the armchair athletes on this forum who admonish and diminish the achievements of the big 3. Nadal fanatics talking trash about Federer's era and vice versa. Even though the most vocal clowns on here are in their 50s and couldn't serve a ball without suffering a heart attack. LOL

Eurosport confirms that it's Fed's quote.

1. if people are linking to the express or other garbage websites they should post the quote, these pages are a pain to navigate
2. what quote is supposed to be interesting? confused

Do the Swiss also have the old saying records are meant to be broken? So how much time are we estimating it'll be between him passing Sampras and Nadal passing him? If it's any consolation to Fed, Nadal will probably hold the record much shorter than he did with Djoko on Nadal's heels. Fed's nightmare is if Djoko retires early from injuries leaving Nadal, his arch rival as the all time GS leader. I wonder who Fed would rather have the all time record. Nadal or Djokovic.

I don't think tennis will ever be as interesting as it is right at this moment. 16 vs 19 vs 20. Who will win the Slam race? All signs point to Nadal based on his current momentum. But then with Djokovic having won 4 of the last 6 Slams, consensus is that he is in a position to win the bulk of Slams due to his proven abilities of running the deck so often in the past (2011, 2015-mid 2016, 2018-mid 2019) where he goes on these runs of racking up Slam after Slam after Slam. I have a feeling that Nadal may not go on such a run like his 2008, 2010, 2013 seasons because of his age and wear/tear on his body. I don't know if he'd be physically able to play like his AO2009 run where he won back to back grueling 5 set matches against Verdasco and Federer. The last time he was put through that type of grind was in USO2018 and he was dead by the semifinals. So it's obvious age is becoming a bigger factor now for the big 3. Even Djokovic may not be able to pull off his multi-Slam seasons as he's nearing 33. Federer at his age and if he's lucky might be able to get Wimbledon. But that would still require a great draw and a lot of luck.

Wear and tear on Nadal? He is the most successful post 30 player of the three of them.

To Federer that would be a pathetic choice, as it matters little who breaks it.

On the other hand, we all know he doesn´t particularly like Djokovic.

He's also skipped the most amount of Slams among the 3 of them and many times has ended his season early and taken extensive breaks and often pulled out of matches or quit matches mid-way. That's not expected to get any better as he approaches 34.

Indeed!

Calculated advantage. Signed, sealed, delivered. :)

You've got a good point there. Disrespectful to say the least.
