I can still remember when Fed hit a dry patch and the fanbois were all calling for him to retire least he compromise his legacy.
I hope he plays as long as he likes -- empty the tank Fed! His legacy's already been established.
I think it was his haters, not fanboys. I know I wanted him to keep playing, even if he kept losing every tournament.I can still remember when Fed hit a dry patch and the fanbois were all calling for him to retire least he compromise his legacy.
Someone Needs to put a tonya Hardin on his azz. This is getting rediculous. He is like a parasite latched onto it's host that will never die.

He seems to be playing better than ever.
Why is it that only fed fanatics think he is not playing well while the entire world thinks he is? The stats as well.
If Andy beats Fed tomorrow, the first thing you would hear is when was the last time Fed beat a big 4 at a major ? AO 2014, right ? He can only win Dubai and Istanbul.

It's amazing how many times he's been counted out and how many times we've heard how some tournament may be his "last best chance." How many of those have come and gone? And now he's one match away from being in another Wimbledon final. The man's ridiculous and at this point, I truly believe the only thing fueling him is a pure love for the sport, which is the most admirable thing about Federer. I hope he plays as long as playing makes him happy.
Roddick has been happily retired for almost three years now, and he stands so far removed from his days as a player that his hair actually appears to have magically grown back since his retirement, a cap no longer needed to cover up previously lost patches.
I agree. He's playing with a lot of confidence, and for good reason. His renewed aggressiveness combined with the margin, power, and safety in his new racquet have really helped a lot these last 18 months. 2013 was very rough but last year made up for it and 2015 is doing much of the same.I think he's playing better in 2015 than he has since winning Wimbledon and returning to #1 in 2012.
2013 was a tough year. He had a very good 2014, but I think he's more comfortable with the new, more aggressive style and is playing his best tennis of the last three years. Whether he can keep it up for two more matches...and whether that will be enough, remains to be seen. But, as a Fed fan, 2012 was the "one more major" I wanted him to get. Everything, every opportunity, since is just gravy. I just sit back and enjoy these events where he plays well and pushes deep into the draw...hoping that things might break his way once more, but completely content if they don't. It's good to be a Fed fan.

I agree about 2012 being so much more than I had hoped as a Federer fan. I mean, winning Wimbledon was enough as I always believed he had another slam in him. But getting back to No. 1 the year after Novak and Rafa had dominated just about every major tournament? It was a dream, really. You're right, everything after that, it doesn't even matter. Just adds to his already legendary legacy.
Now I only want him to keep playing because I love his tennis. I'll stay up to 3:30AM or wake up at 6AM or whatever time of day to watch him play. I love tennis, I love to play tennis, I love to watch tennis, but Roger's tennis is just so different, so beautiful to watch. I could go on but when he leaves the game, there will definitely be a void that will take some time to fill.
I could not agree more! Honestly, the fact that he's not guaranteed a win against players like Djokovic or Murray, or even big hitters like Berdych and Tsonga adds to the thrill of watching Federer. I mean, it's always been there. He goes for shots no one else would think to go for in dire situations and, more often that not, makes them. But now that he's going out there and, sometimes, expected to lose, makes you want to watch and see how he brilliantly comes up with the victory. It's so much fun to watch! And I think it's unreal that at almost 34 years old and over 10 years after he first reached World No. 1, he's down just ONE spot in the rankings at 2. It's unreal!I would echo everything you said. He's so fun to watch. Especially now that he's committed to attacking more. And, on grass where the surface suits his style - so fun to watch. I particularly enjoy his encounters with guys like Murray and Djokovic. It's actually pretty relaxing to watch him against those guys now, since he's not necessarily expected to win like he is in most matchups. I can just sit back, enjoy, and accept the results. I think it's great that he can still compete on their level at this stage of his career.

I could not be more proud of being his fan.
He wins a vast majority of them and I'm happy with that. Sometimes those losses are easier to swallow because you kinda have to accept that it was a good day for them and there's not much Roger could've done to change the result. The ones hard for me to take are the ones where he kinda beats himself by committing a ton of errors. Those "what-ifs" sting more to me, personally, but I totally get what you're saying as well. In that sense, I was okay with the Cilic loss because of how well Marin played, and him winning the final helped quell the sadness too. But when you think about it, it's astounding that despite how much Federer's won, he was mere points away from so much more so many times in his career. Those Tsonga, Berdych, etc., matchups can be more tense to me, because I still expect him to win them, but I know that it's a very real possibility that he could catch them on the wrong day and get hammered off the court. Those losses aren't that bad, knowing that those guys are capable of doing that to anyone and Roger is more vulnerable to that now, but I still hate when it happens. It always results in that inevitable "what if". Like, what if Marin Cilic had not caught fire in NYC last year. Fed may be chasing #19 right now. But, it is what it is. Just gotta tip your cap to a guy playing that well.
Lol, bit harsh mate. He is one resilient SOB I'll give him that.Someone Needs to put a tonya Hardin on his azz. This is getting rediculous. He is like a parasite latched onto it's host that will never die.
Federer's never thrashed Djokovic in a Wimbledon final ccO.Not until he thrashes your hero in one more Wimbledon final.![]()
Jordan never thrashed LeBron either.Federer's never thrashed Djokovic in a Wimbledon final ccO.![]()
He's going to start on the WTA once he turns 40, and will then equal Court's WTA slam record over the subsequent few years. He is still 7 shy of Court's record.

Born to win.For the love of god he might be competing at Wimbledon finals until age 60. You can not make this up lol.
I'm not American so you may as well be speaking in another language to me.Jordan never thrashed LeBron either.![]()
Federer is the Jordan of tennis.I'm not American so you may as well be speaking in another language to me.![]()
Never even heard of the second guy. No biggie anyway.Federer is the Jordan of tennis.
LeBron is the Djokovic of basketball.

interesting I am a LeBron guy.Federer is the Jordan of tennis.
LeBron is the Djokovic of basketball.
It is an interesting comparison, I think Novak has achieved more at this stage though.interesting I am a LeBron guy.

sureshs disagrees. It must not be economical for him given his entourage and also he has to feed 4 children. The financials are pretty bad for Fed as per latest reports.
He will retire if he does not get to the semis here

That's only one side of the coin, most annual "Fed should retire" threads are made by guys like Suresh (I think he alone made like 10 or something) who aren't Fed fans in the slightest. Not to mention that every time Fed lost a big match in last 5 years or so you had butthurt individuals (like 90s Clay and the like) pointing and shouting how this loss is the absolute proof Fed would have won 5 slams max in this hypothetical scenario he pulled out of his behind.
No one's record should be beyond criticism and I don't like putting any single tennis great on the pedestal above others (except maybe Laver for obvious reasons) but all those hypothetical scenarios people come up with can't change the fact that Fed is one of the best (not the best but definitely up there with other tennis greats) and his achievements are what they are, it just comes off as tilting at windmills.
My attitude in that regard is same for every player whose playing style I like, I hope he plays as long his health allows and he's enjoying himself on court. That said, the bolded part is what a lot of people have trouble accepting.
Jinx? There will be one more slam added to that epic photo.![]()
Jinx?
Fair enoughI don't believe in that BS. I have always said Federer will end his career with 18 slams, and I stand by it, even if he doesn't win on Sunday.
Fair enoughI've just been seeing too many people doing that nonsense lately.
