I would have thought he'd come back as a coach or consultant but as a commentator so soon? Kind of strange for a GOAT.
Everyone would love to hear his perspective before a player is serving 40-15 match point.

Why would he do that? He's a Goat of tennis. He's surely got family stuff he'd rather be doing. Even just sitting by the pool would be better.
His outside family members are probably working and kids attending school as he found out while rehabbing twice.
Dad can do some fun work for 2 weeks of the year and bring the family along, probably for free.
He's likely positioning himself for a court named after him or becoming a director.
I'll miss Barker's British accent.

The other guy got to the third round of the US Open in 1987, pushing Becker to 4 sets. He also lost in 5 sets to Wilander in the second round of 1986 Wimbledon, eating a tasty bagel in the fifth set.

It will just be unbearable. Fraud would be a decent commentator but the rest of the crew will just fawn over him and make every single thing about him.

Nose needs to take some time off the lime light and enjoy his well earned retirement with his wife and children.

Roger Federer will be the best tennis commentator ever.

He'll probably not do live play-by-play analysis but will be part of the crew who give commentary after and between matches.

I personally wouldn't want him to do play-by-play, that'd be sad lol

GOATs are active. People dream of doing nothing as it’s a relief from work to survive. It’s a completely different mindset. Federer is a tennis junkie and loves the sport. If he speaks his mind about actual tactics and psychology, we’d get very, very, very interesting insights, especially if he can call a Djoko or Rafito match.

Wouldn't it be a way to understand Federer's vision on the court better, and maybe get some insight into how his mind worked tactically? I'd watch any match just for Federer commentating it, tbh.

Would pay to hear this thoughts on NextGen playing on grass lol. He might be a natural and just be an amazing commentator. Even if not he’ll surely up viewership.
Would love to see him go off. His 2017 post-Wimbledon presser has some of my favorite Fed quotes.

I have played almost every player here that wouldn’t serve and volley. It’s frightening to see this at this level. I look at the stats and go into whichever round it is and see that the guy I’m going to face is playing 2 percent of serve and volley throughout the championships. I’m going, ‘OK, I know he’s not going to serve and volley’, which is great.

what happens if Boris breaks out of prison?
Becker will probably be released from jail in July-August 2023, which will be slightly too late for Wimbledon. He got 2 and a half years and started the sentence on 29 April 2022, and one is usually released around the halfway mark unless there's particularly bad behaviour. So exactly halfway is late July 2023.

How much would he earn? McEnroe is said to get over £180,000 just for Wimbledon, but Federer would probably get at least that much on name alone

I would too, for sure. I just hope he does it occasionally and only for big matches. As in, he steps in during a match and gives his insights but doesn't do the clerical repetitive play-by-play that can sound like submissive position after such an illustrious career.

I imagine it's only a matter of time anyway even if not next year. Will be good to see (y)

All England Lawn Tennis Club are smart. Hire the biggest sport icon will elevate Wimbledon status even further, gain more viewers and of course generate more revenue.

He gets front rown seat when Djo ties his record
Djokovic will never be a mega sport figure at All England Club like Federer even if he wins his 8th.

No matter how hard Djokovic try to fill these shoes, he will never be the phenomenon that Federer had become

Well...that's still a million times better than what Djokovic's brothers ever did. Especially the younger arrogant one who claimed he was going to be greater than his brother Novak :D
