Makes me think with courts being so fast at the USO back then, how Agassi would have fared if he were to play on today's surface.
I think Agassi would still have been able to do quite well even in today's conditions. The AO wasn't super fast back then and that was his best Slam. Miami was also a pretty slow hard court and he won that six times, I believe.

It is incredible to see that rackethead acceleration. His footwork is incredible, but the pace he was able to generate off the forehand wing was just incredible in those days.
He should have gone for stronger arms and biceps after 28 to keep generating it.
Because most of his Forehand was athleticism on display

Old Andre playing with a cortisone injection directly into his spine prior to the match--- still the greatest ball striker ever in my eyes. Novak is more Gumby-ish and flexible (and faster with better movement), but for pure ball striking, Andre is King. Fabulous match!

If every ATG had equal movement, I think agassi comes out on top more often than not on all surfaces, due to sheer ballstriking power and consistency.
Damn, I used to root against roger for every match at the time this final happened, (a teenager who was a Fanboy of Agassi)

So Fed gets to use Ancient Backassi as a claim to having real competition, meanwhile PETE played the real thing quite literally off the court and gets nothing?
