Roger uses new K-Factor

That's a nice PJ!
The NCode PJ is horrendous to my eyes :D

Nothing like that beautiful shiny red-purple of the PC600, or the flaming colours of the PS 6.1 :D

damn it

i remember a pic i saw on the tennisaustralia website of fed and mirka sitting on the seats next to the courts, both rackets next to fed. the pic was awesome cus it was a real close up view, and you could see all the detail of the racket

so when i see this post i go to get a link, and when i find the same article, they have removed the pic. no its just him hitting.

but from what i remember, he wasnt hitting w/ a real k thingy, it was a pj. identical to what the n-code looked like

one thing is for sure, at least to me...the ncode 90 looks better than the k factor 90 with just the leather grip

I like the new K Factor looks kinda futuristic. I rekon it sorta looks like the same racquet that Tommy Robredo uses

Is it only me or weren't they planning to make the courts blue and green?!?
maybe not yet.

but i prefer some other color in the court area. there is no point in using green color because of the traditional grass. grass is history. blue or dark red will be nice.

You like this?
Ja, the Swiss flag look is gone, and I don't even know what K-factor is (or nCode for that matter), but y'know the boys in Chicago gave me a nice little bonus hee hheee.

Two years from now? Who knows...just pick a letter, huh?

somewhat agreeing with breakpoint, i believe federer's been using the same racquet this whole time, the racquet's specs have always been the same, its just a 90 sq in racquet with a shorter palette and distinct string pattern, and now, finally, the stock model for the public is the same as the racquet in federer's hands

obviously he might ask wilson to make it a little heavier or whatever while we ordinary tennis players will take the time to apply the lead tape on

pro staff tour 90 to ncode 90 to k factor 90...the stock model changed from the ncode 90 to the k factor 90, but federer's racquet's been the same all along :)
Here's a quote from rogerfederer, com confirming, if anything, that he does not use the stock balance and weight:

"Q: Do you customize your racket? And if you do how and where?
A: Yes. Wilson does it for me."

alpinecadet: obviously federer does not use the stock model of the racquet....rarely do any pros do as such.....roddick for one does use the stock model though i believe...

besides that question is from the days of his pro staff tour 90 or ncode 90 usage

what i'm saying is that i think, and no one has to agree with me and i'm not claiming to be right, but i think that federer's been using the same racquet for his whole career, a 90 sq in racquet with a 16 x 19 string pattern, but the spacing of the strings are unique, shorter pallete, all that stuff.....

but now the new stock model, K90, is the same as his racquet

obviously if federer's racquet actually weighs 13 oz instead of the 12.4 strung for the stock model, wilson will make the racquet 13 oz or 13.5 oz or whatever...into the mold of the frame....so there isnt any lead tape visible on the frame or any inside the handle....

notice how vague the answer was though....asked how and where....response: yes wilson does it for me LOL :)

Well that answer was old. And I would not be surprised if he uses an slightly heavier version (or modified if you will) racket, actually, ofcourse his rackets are modified, if nothing else, to keep them within his precise specs. But to say that he always played a 90, or always played the racket he is playing now, is (sorry) stupid. When he and Sampras played each other in Wimbledon, the rackets were of equal size, and when Federer started to play the PS there was no 90' around.

itll probably sell like hotcakes like the ncode im guessing.
ya and im happy. because i love showing up to a tournament match seeing a player using an ncode tour 90 that brings down his game. however, i only like it when he's my opponent, not otherwise ;)

then again, if you use an ncode tour 90, and soon the k6.1 90, on the TW boards, you are seen as a poser, no matter how good (or bad) you are :)

If its to much like a toothpick forget about it's 5 more n-codes for me this year.

Oooh, nice lookin racquet! I still like my nCode, but I'm a Wilson loyalist, so of course, I'll have to check out the new racquet.

The head looks small, still. It could be 90, maybe 93?

So, is Fed using his same old racket minus the paint job?
Seems to be a genuine change, albeit slight.

Q. (inaudible) re change in the racquet.

A. They changed the graphics, obviously, inside of the racquet a

little bit. They came out with nanotechnology two years ago,

this year carbon black, gives a little bit more control, they

say. I feel like it's feeling well. Yes, I'm happy with the

racquet so far, I've been playing with it already in December.

What's most interesting to me is how no other pros have followed the lead of the guy who has almost completely dominated the game for several years. Players in other sports try an equipment change in recent decades (wide receivers don gloves, hockey players try curved stick blades, outfielders go to larger gloves, squash players try larger racquets) and pretty soon everyone in the game is doing it. Roger Federer dominates tennis with a 90 (?88?) square inch frame and NOBODY at the top of the game follows his lead (i.e. other top pros). Sure, those guys don't change equipment too often, but some do, and even the younger pros entering the game now have not followed his lead. Seems to further reinforce the notions that 1) that kind of racquet will generally not help your game, and 2) Federer is simply in a class of one.

raftermania,
your sig about K-Fed made me laugh....the new paint job even has a really weak-ass goatee built in, which reminds me of the Dennis Miller line in Joe Dirt,
"You mean you're so ingrained with white trash DNA that your facial hair actually grows in that way?"

Fed's got an 85 - no doubt about it.

Is it me, or that racket looks too big to be 90sq.in?
I think much to the contrary - looking at the racquet in the match yesterday and in that photo, that is, without any doubt (in my mind anyway!) an 85 - it's way too oval to be a 90.

Carry on!
