At this point, it seems to me that beaking Connors' 109 record is just a matter of time for Fed.

He still needs 11 so I see him getting the 110th in 2021 but for now, let's just focus on 2019, how many titles can Fed win in the upcoming season you think?

He won 11 titles in the last two years.

Vote and discuss..

After the missed chances in 2018 I am not so sure that it is "just a matter of time" before Federer reaches 109.

Of course, it will be truly monumental, if he can win more titles in one year, than in his entire career until now.

I think he will probably get 3 or 4. I think a slam is possible but not all that likely, but I think he can probably grab a masters. I imagine he'll get Halle and Basel and then 1 or 2 of Stuttgart/masters/WTF/slams

Well I mean he only won 4 last year, including two 500s and a 250. A lot of Connors' 109 titles were below Masters level (81) so that's not a knock on Fed. Roger only has 46 titles below Masters in comparison.

He should enter more 500s moving forward. Basel & Halle are not enough unless he expects himself to play till 41. I know he played Rotterdam to get the #1 but it's a good fit for him moving forward if he skips Miami which he should. Then I don't know why he doesn't play Tokyo. He skipped Dubai but plays there often, competition hasn't been as great but if Novak comes back to I don't like Roger's chances there. Course right now Stuttgart is the only 250 he plays, if he wants to add one there's plenty of options, I'd be guessing Qatar but Novak might make that a waste. If playing 3 weeks in a row isn't out of the question late in the year, Stockholm would be a great vulturing opportunity inbetween Shanghai and Basel. Especially if he starts skipping USO which he might.

As for 2019, I see no Slams, hoping he wins Indian Wells as I'll be going this year but Novak might be too strong. Gotta think he wins at least one of Stuttgart/Halle and Basel, so I'll throw 3 and say 102.

Dude Federer isnt even sure hell play in 2020. How on earth is he gonna win 11 more titles?

Don't worry about that. Fed doesn't think about retirement at all in the near future. As long as he's still competitive, he's here to stay. He made that point clear over and over again.

Just tell us how many titles you think he's gonna win in the upcoming season.

He'll do well to win any.

2-3 is my best guess

From what I have read lately, it seems that many of Connors tournament wins were against small and or weak competition, therefore, career accomplishments should be separated by eras, which makes Roger's wins more impressive than Jimmy's.

Depends a lot on how many small tournaments he'll play.

I have a hard time seeing him win anything above 500s.

If you are trying to pull a sureshs, you should be more specific.

I'm not really trying.

Guess he'll win like 3? It's likely that if he starts losing early in big tournaments he'll add a few smaller ones, and if he doesn't lose early he's still good enough to have a decent shot in the bigger ones.

I just have a hard time seeing him beat Djokovic ever again. A few of the other matchups could also turn a little sour.

I'm actually very interested in how he'd do vs Khachanov.

rosewall was finalist at wimbledon and the us open at the age of almost 40 in the best year of the connors’s career.
and here criticize djokovic when he faced the "grandfather" federer in the finals of 2015 with 34 years having the Swiss a tennis level clearly superior to the Australian.

The only reason why Federer would add smaller tournaments is if he is trying to build up his form, not to target titles.

Khachanov is hitting too flat to trouble Federer, if Federer is playing anywhere near 70% of his current level and Khachanov is at his now. The only way for a Khachanov win is if he blows Federer off the court when in the zone (a la Stakhovsky).

I voted 101. I think he will win a grass tournament (either Stuttgart or Halle) and Basel. 110 will be very hard to reach if he doesn't decide to go for small tournaments (like Montpellier, Sofia)

I expect 2 or 3. With his form, I could see no slams, perhaps a 1000 if he plays well, but I'm guessing 2 500s - Basel and either Dubai, Rotterdam, or Halle.

Meh he is already the real titles leader

You can chop Connors's number in half right away because those 16 or 8 draw US city championships are more comparable to a futures event today than they are a main tour event

For once i don't think he's guaranteed to win his pet events like Dubai, Halle, Basel or Cincinnati.
Personally, i would love to see him compete on clay and hopefully add another title on that surface.
Realistically, i think he can win 3 titles max, unless he can turn back the clock and start playing some inspired tennis again.

When Fed speaks about being "competitive," he specifically means competitive in slams and to a far less extent, Masters 1000's. He won't be hanging around very long once he starts losing in the second round in majors. He has also repeatedly said he won't play random 250's just to go after Connors record.

I'll go safe and vote 103. When was the last time that a healthy Federer won less than 4 titles in a year? Oh, yeah, 2002.
Federer winning at least 4 titles when healthy since 2003 is the safest bet to make right now. I'll go with Stuttgart/Halle/Cincinnati/Basel as the titles he'll win, possibly Rotterdam and/or Wimbledon.

Probably should work towards getting a 100 first.

As far as how many titles he will get this year:

1-Laver cup
keep the most important streak going

He will win 17 titles this year.

AO, Dubai, IW, Miami, MC, Madrid, Rome, RG, Halle, Wimbledon, Canada, Cincy, USO, Shanghai, Basel, Paris, WTF

May impress Laver, but no guarantees.

Only 8 more. I think he gets it most likely. The only way he doesnt is if he retires after next year, and while many coincide their retirements with Olympics these days, I am guessing he plays on.
