What a choke from Patience. He wasted 2 set points in the 1st set and lost, then wins easily in the 2nd and 3rd, loses the 4th in tie-break and later in the 5th wastes a 0-40 at 3-3 and then he is broken after a 40-15 lead. Then he wastes another break point in the last game of the match.

Hewitt is too tough mentally for Nieminen. Hewitt is NOT playing that well today however. His form thus far is not very impressive. He will have a hard time even pushing Nadal unless he picks it up big time. Djokovic also did NOT play well today.

But if Nadal plays as bad as he did today, Hewitt might have a chance. Hewitt is no Montanes hahaa

Nadal played a very good match today. He said he needs to be more agressive against Hewitt than he was at Hamburg. I think he is ready to beat Hewitt.

I see beauty!

I want to see Verdasco v. Andreev!!!!!!!

Oh that'll be a forehand CLINIC!

too bad it requires Djoko and Baggy to lose in the process.

Djokovic won in 5 sets but Patience played much better than him.
What a great match! I wish I could have seen it.

I ended up listening on RG radio en français. The commentators were going wild, and you could hear everyone chanting Olivier's name in the stadium!

Even Djoko admitted that Patience outplayed him, I'm pretty surprised he let it get away from him. Or maybe, Nole's will to win was much stronger. Either way, it was exciting, even just listening!

Nadal played well enough to win. He just didn't feel confident enough to be aggresive and instead made it a grind out match. When Nadal's attack game isn't working, the matches can last a long time. Credit to Montanes for taking Nadal out of his rhythm. The match was a lot closer than it looked. Btw if these courts play like they did today, Hewitt will find it awfully hard to hit the ball on the rise.

Are you kidding. He kicked his behind. It wasn't as close as the final score.
All the games were close. One game was like 36 points. Nadal won all the close game pretty much. Too bad he couldn't have finished earlier. 2.5 hours is a little too much tennis imo.

dude, you seriously need to go play tennis. That match was not close. It was pretty much over after that long game in the first set.

YOu are right , i could not agree more, but only cause Nadal was dead tired and was about a full step late to every shot.

Robredo is destroying Volandri 6-2 4-0. Volandri wouldn´t have any chance against Federer. Neither Robredo I guess, but he is more experienced playing QF in a Grand Slam (last one vs Federer in the QF of the Aus Open).

Yeah, from a distance, they look like twins.

Volandri seems like a wimp to me. He also reminds me of a Jersey Guido I knew back in the day (if he'd just put on a wifebeater and gained a few pounds around the neck).

Every time I see Robredo I like his game more and more. It's patient yet stylish and diverse. Allez, Tommy.

What is with these slow speeds of the second serves? I'm used to seeing 110-115 mph second serves, and most of what I'm seeing now is 85-100 mph.

Willy is on fire: 6-0 6-4 4-1 vs Monaco. I wish he could meet Fed in the QF but well, he only needs to pass one more round to meet him in the SF.
The way Cañas is playing I wouldn´t be surprised to see him in the final. He didn´t have any phisically demanding matches yet so he will be at his best in the QF and (hipotetically) SF vs Federer.

No women's matches tomorrow?

Am I seeing this correctly. The FO website is showing that there are no scheduled women's matches tomorrow. Cousin Larry, I'm so happy we do the dance of joy!!! Props to anyone who can figure out the what show that last sentence is in reference to.

Yeah I think they played all of their R16 matches today so they have monday off. But tomorrow ESPN will probably show Serena's match from today, so we have that to look forward to.
