That PHM match was impressive from both players. Shwank needs to lose maybe 5 kg and start moving better, and he'll be a force to reckon with.

LOL free lessons. Now I see how Nalbandian was beaten. I didn't get to watch that match the other day. After seeing Chardy this evening though, makes sense. Hope he will bring his best for Almagro and has a stamina to make it good.

Well, what do you know, Flavia "I took Carlos' mojo away" Pennetta leaves the tournament without Williamses. At the beginning of the FO many thought that they would be the only Americans that would run deep in the draw. Figures.

Really happy for Flavia, her play was excellent today. She reaches the 4th round at RG for the first time in her career and her chances of reaching the quarters are very high as she will face some not very well-known Spanish girl next.

The Spanish girl, Carla Suárez Navarro, has upset Mauresmo and Dellacqua, not bad for a 122 ranked player. She had Arantxa Sánchez Vicario in her box when she beat Mauresmo.

Sure, these are very good wins for her, but Mauresmo is really struggling this season and she's prone to losing to girls from the 2nd hundred from time to time. Dellaqua is tough now but still not a super threat, so I hope Flavia can really make it.

Meh, whatever, since TV keeps switching between men's and women's matches it would be bothersome to keep two different threads. I hope the OP won't mind, will you, maño?

Yeah, and I wish she could finally take it (or Jankovic). But we seem to forget that this is men's singles thread...:):)

I guess it would be better to just talk about them here since it seems there's almost no interest right now since Henin retired.

No surprises at the moment, Ferrer leads Hewitt 6-2 3-0 and Stepanek took the 1st set against Robredo.
I just don´t see how Hewitt can hurt Ferrer, is there any area of the game where Hewitt is better now?

I love the men's coverage on Tennis Channel tonight :???:

anyways, wawrinka and gonzalez is pretty even right now. 4-5 gonzalez serve. looks like its gonna be a good match.

I agree. His footwork isn't as pure on clay. And he can't get the ball past Ferrer.

Jankovic just got rid of Cibulkova - who is quite easy on the eyes...

My bet on Jankovic is looking better all the time - except for that wrap on her
forearm...

It´s ok to comment the WTA matches here, especially the last games so we all know when the ATP matches are about to start.
Seriously, I understand it´s easier to stay on the same thread to comment all the matches, no problem.

Great point, you gotta admire the fight in Hewitt even though he's almost surely going down today.

Stepanek's cruising against Robredo it looks like,I gotta say seeing Robredo's passing shots against Roddick in Rome I'm not surprised.

Ferrer is in a slump, lost 6 games in a row against Hewitt. He stopped playing aggressive and made some UE. Anyway if he is mentally strong to deal with this letdown he should win this match. He needs to play aggressive again and attack Hewitt´s forehand.

Stepanek d. Robredo 6-3 6-2 6-1.
I´ve been saying that he´s playing really well. Unfortunately for him his quarter of the draw is really tough but I think he could still beat anyone until the SF.

Robredo hasn't been able to clock a passing shot as of lately. Against a S&V'er as Stepanek that is a big liability. Nadal would probably triple bagel Stepanek, though.

match goes to ginepri.

Gonzalez's white shirt is different from the one on TW. The front part of the collar is black, but in the picture on TW there is no black by the collar. can anyone explain this?

Dissapointing loss for Wawrinka,I expected more from him in this tournament but on the other hand it's good to see Gonzo's playing great again(great comeback for him in this match).

Ferrer wins.
Gonzo wins.

Great matches. I could not beleive it that ESPN started showing Sharapova tape, instead of the end of Gonzales - Wawrinka, after Ferrer - Hewitt match was finished.

Stan either let up in the 3rd or let Gonzo's outbursts bother him. Bad either way. But I did put a few bucks on Gonzo in Vegas so I can't complain... :)

Is anyone else rooting for Melzer to get this over with so Fed - Ancic gets on?

Any thoughts on the Gonzo vs Ginepri match on Monday? I think Ginepri will take it in a tight match. I think it will help Ginepri that he was able to cruise in 90 minutes today and Gonzo was in a 4 hour battle.

I think Ginepri is an underdog obviously but has a shot, Gonzo is too streaky to ever be a cert
