Nothing against French players, but one can't help but wish they are eliminated so they steal less air time from the top seeds.

I know Davydenko had Fed beaten last year but Fed is not scared of davydenko if they played again.

He didnt have him beaten, or even close to it. Having him beaten is being up in the 5th set or having won 2 sets and been up in a 3rd. Being up in all 3 sets and losing all 3 sets is not having someone beaten.

How the hell did Kolja lose two sets to Ljubicic?!? He lost the 4th set 6-2,I hope he isn't injuried or something.

Davydenko has not had a week off - if he ever wants to reach the final stages of a slam he has to maintain a better schedule - this guy will burn out febore Rafa

If Davydenko loses today the winner of Ferrer-Stepanek would probably play Fed in the semis. I don´t think Davydenko has a good chance to beat Federer anyway. If he is struggling against Ljubicic I don´t see him beating Fed who is a much better player and owns him mentally. His chances would be slim.
As I said before Stepanek would be the worst matchup for Fed if both reach the semifinals.

When Federer lost to Stepanek in Rome, he said it wasn't as bad as if he lost to a real clay courter. I wonder if he would say the same if he lost to Stepanek in the semis here?

Looks like Kolja won't be even getting to Federer although maybe he'll turn this around.I wouldn't hold my breath on Stepanek beating Federer in any slam, masters tournaments are one thing and slam semifinal is another.Let's see if they'll both get there so we can find out.

Well, Ljubicic to serve for the match. Who would have told that the old wolf had it in him still?

Didn't see that one coming not in a million years. Before match I thought Ljubicic wil go down in straights and now he has 3 MPs.

And it is not that Davydenko played poorly, this was the Ljubicic of 2-3 years ago, great serve, groundstokes and nice touch.

Soderling wasted 2 SP in the 2nd set and he is now 1 set all and 0-4 in the 3rd against Benneteau
60 in the 3rd !
what an implosion... he was really killing benneteau in the beginning of the match ! benneteau kept fighting hard, running on everything... but 60, wow.

Are you watching? Does Soderling look tired or injured or is he too busy imitating his opponent?
By the way, 5 Frenchies in 4th round if Benneteau wins this, not bad!
I´m getting ready to watch the S.Lenglen matches :)

yes i was watching this... soderling was really impressive in the beginning. i wouldn't have bet on benneteau !
to his credit, he really fought hard despite eating heavy forehands and backhands from soderling and the swedish player injured his brain (as the commentators said, the swedish nerves are not anymore what they used to be !).

Nb: a racket was also killed during the operation.

he was serving for a 61 75 easy lead !

After Federer finished match they switched to Benneteau-Soderling.I see Benneteau is checked by the doctor and he is leading by 2-1 on sets and 4-1.Wtf happened there?

So his serve was broken at least 5 straight times, right?

At 6-5 (2nd), 0-0, 0-2, 0-4, and 0-0 (4th).
6 straight times !!!
(until 4-0 in the 4th)

+ a tie-break as a bonus present, of course

if benneteau is a polite guy, he has to send flowers to soderling for thanking him. what a terrible streak... :?

by the way, now i understand better what has probably happened during the wawrinka-soderling match at the 2006 australian open...

Anybody folllowing Almagro - Chardy? It is 7-7 in the 2nd set TB.

Edit: Almagro won 9-7 anfter Chardy had a SP at 7-6 on his serve.

First two sets 7-6 7-6 Almagro.

Not bad for Almagro. Winning tie breaks with the crowd against him. He may be becoming a tougher competitor, God knows we need more of them. Any live stream of this? Nadal-Verdasco is a bit too one sided to be funny.

LOL Chardy wasted 2 SP in the 1st and 3 SP in the 2nd, he is down 2 sets.
on the other hand, he saved many BP... i think he's fighting good against a tough clay player like almagro. losing all those opportunities could have been hard to swallow, especially as he must be very tired and not familiar with best-of-5 matches...

I am not watching. Just checking live score from time to time.

Were there any breaks in this match so far?

Two breaks in the second set, Chardy broke to go up 4-3 then got broken back right afterwards. Almagro has had a ton of break point chances though.

The 2nd set tie-break was crazy. Chardy wasted 3 SP and it was 7-7.
Then he double faulted and in the next point a netcord winner from Almagro gave him the set. He was really lucky there.
Chardy was so upset that he threw his racquet to the other side of the net.
