Haas takes it! I wish I could have seen some of that match

Monfils is awesome to watch on clay, so hard to outmanouevre him, hit past him, or hit through him.

Djokovic is playing and ESPN is showing a tape delayed Venus Williams match? *sigh* Guess I'll have to live stream...

Ignoring LIVE matches featuring the #4 ranked ATP player is not gonna get them more viewership. What on earth are they thinking??? :x

wait what happened? Didn't he just win the first set comfortably and now he is down 0-3. Ugh, all my favorite players having some mental lapses here. C'mon nole!!

Djokovic down 0-3 and 0-30 in the 2nd set. If he somehow wins it, gj011 says that his opponent choked.
Aww, i went to sleep after the first set, seemed like a cakewalk for Nole.

What a tough draw Federer has with Chucho. Chucho choked the match in the end allowing Federer another stab at a FO final (possibly).

Anybody seen the stats for Verdasco? He hit ONE HUNDRED PERCENT on his first serves for the first set. ROFL.

how can he be down 2 sets? Im watching the stats and he has more aces, less doubles faults, more winners and less UEs than Henescu, but he's still down 2 sets

he must be playing very poorly on the big points

Anyone know what happened to Ferrer. He totally lost it at the end of the match, smashed his racket into the net post and refused to shake the umpires hand.

i'm not so sure whether there was an issue with the umpire or not during the match. it's just that ferrer was so angry at losing that he had to go retrieve his racquet after throwing it, so while he was retrieving it (plus any pieces broken off from it), soderling gave a giant shout of triumph, then went to the umpire and shook his hand, took off his wrist bands, then turned toward the court where ferrer was just coming off. He and Ferrer shook hands, but Ferrer, obviously still having a temper tantrum, then hit the net post with the broken racquet. It would have seemed silly to stop the resumed tantrum to shake hands with the umpire, since as soon as he passed the net post, he hit his changeover chair with the racquet as well!

iow, w/out having seen the match, i have no idea whether he was angry with the umpire or simply angry with himself.

temper is like that. it's sad, really, since ferrer and soderling together had provided the audience with over 3 hours of entertaining tennis ... then the audience booed David as he left the court. it's understandable in a way, but it's still sad. (how do you say 'anger management' in spanish?)

Anyone watching the Chardy - Haas match? It's 3 all at the moment, Chardy had a bp in the first game, but they've been trading love service games basically.

I'm watching. Haas has been serving very well. The Tennis Channel commentator sounds like he's narrating a 40s film. Although he's not American...

non non non Jeremy D:

well I suppose he could still win in 5, and I won't be too upset if it's Haas he's losing to anyway

Roddick is already up a break on gicquel

I've been watching on Eurosport, but I'm getting bored - it's a bit of a snoozefest isn't it? Even though the eye candy is superb. Agreed on the Haas serve.

What are the commentators saying?

It wasn't what he was saying, just the way he was talking. They changed commentators anyways.

Chardy takes the third as hoped. Now Haas gets to win this one and we're on track for a Haas in four win.

And Haas used to be much better eye candy. But lately, not so much. :)

Roddick wins the second in style!
Chardy up a break in the fourth, but Haas has 0-40 to break back!

this fourth set is driving me crazy haha, Haas up a break now, think he's likely to hold on.

I'm watching Roddick/Gicquel at the moment, it's pretty entertaining

Roddick seems to be enjoying himself, generously aided by Gicquel of course.

Poor Chardy, too, bad day for the frenchies so far. Hope it continues (sorry PHM!).

Roddick seems to be playing vey well even if the opposition is not top class. Roddick holds, up 3-1 and leading by 2 sets to 0.

i came in this thread just to praise roddick, good to see others are too. i see little not to like about the guy, maybe he's a bit introspective and insecure for the americans here, as a brit i think he's hilarious in his interviews, and his hard work has really paid off this year. he's playing really well on a surface he doesn't like against a dangerous opponent. it's not like gicquel's on the way down, he doesn't have the miles on the clock of other players. he's 32 but he only turned pro at 24 and he's playing the best he's ever played.

awww, jeremy had 2 bp chances in that last game but tommy saved them and took the match. I'm a little sad now

Roddick is definitely playing pretty well out there today, first time I've had a chance to see him play this tournament too

Haas does it in 4. Is this a late career revival by Hass? Anyways good luck to him. Haas a pleasent game but mentally I don't think he is stable enough to beat the big guys.

53 winner from Haas. Thats nice.

And Haas wins, well done to him. Apparently he's matched his best ever effort at the RG and this at 31 after two years of absence.

FPS, I'm half Brit and I love Roddick's interviews too - and it's great to see him do well here.
