I'm not going to lie. I barely follow the women's tour so apart from knowing that Wozniacki is no1 and Sharapova won in Rome, I don't really know who else is on form. Azarenka (injury prone) Clijsters (also injury prone) and Stosur who seems to like clay are the only bits I have heard from this years women's clay season. I don't think Schiavone has had the best lead up.
Basically I'll let someone else more in the know analyze the women's draw
EDIT:
Having looked at the women's draw again I see that Wozniacki could face either Goerges whom I think she lost to twice in the clay season build up or Stosur, who loves clay, in the quarter finals. I would think either of those are a bit of a nightmare draw for her in chasing her first slam. Before reaching that stage though she would face Hantuchova in the 3rd round and former champion Kuznetsova in the fourth round if the seedings play true (not sure of the form of either of these players though, I'll let someone else fill that out).
3rd seed Zvonareva is in the 2nd quarter and therefore should play Wozniacki. Not heard much of Zvonareva lately though, neither have I for anyone else in that quarter, apart from Schiavone who should play the Russian in the quarter finals according to seedings. Jankovic is the other big name in that section of the draw, seeded to play Schiavone in the 4th round. I wouldn't be surprised if none of those 3 came through to the semis though.
Azarenka is in the 3rd quarter of the draw and if she was able to fight off injury to get through to the quarter finals then she would most likely face Aussie open runner up Na Li or Kvitova. Then again I havent heard much from these two over the clay build so I'm only going on seedings there. Former no1 and RG champ Ivanovic is the other big name who has been drawn to play Azarenka in the 4the 4th round.
7th seed Sharapova is in the bottom quarter and should meet Clijsters in the quarters although I believe the Belgian is only just struggling to return in time from injury so will probably be tall order for her to beat the in-form Masha, that's if she is able to get that far in the first place. Petkovic would be a possible 4th round match up for Kim while A. Radwanska is the stand-out name for Sharapova to face in the 4th round. It seems that for Sharapova, who has always struggled on clay, the draw has panned out perfectly for her to reach the semi finals since she has the best form of all players in the bottom half of the draw. If Azarenka was unable to get that far to face the Russian then she wuold probably be favourite to reach the final.
Ooooo well look at that, I seem to know a bit more about the women's game than I give myself credit for lol
