What rubbish. Nadal is far from the favorite to win RG. Djesus is the favorite by a huge margin, and will be winning the title.

After Nadal won one 500 tournament with one or two real contenders...
Right...
Lets talk in about 45 days...when we really know where he is...

It's not going to be easy and I hope we get a full on battle. IF they are on opposite sides of the draw and they both make the final it'll be an epic one for sure! I hope Nadal is completely recovered and I hope he doesn't make it easy at all for Novak. And if Novak is good enough to beat Rafa, which he has shown he CAN do on clay, then he can win. But I do suspect a final of these two will give us some extremely high quality tennis to watch.

Looking at the OP's name / handle...is this what everyone shouts while Nadal is taking his time on changeovers?

The way Nadal demolished Ferrer, he seems to be getting back to elite level, I'm leaning towards him at this point to mop up the clay season.

Before I gave Nole the decisive advantage.. Not now however

Nadal winning a lousy 500 event after being out for nearly 8 months made you change your mind? If Nadal meets Cvac at RG, he's toast. I don't even think Nadal would get through Murray at this point. He's nowhere near the form he would have to be in to beat those guys on any surface right now.

No.. His complete demolition over Ferrer changed my mind a bit. I didn't think Nadal's level would be where it needed to be quite so fast.

I figured it would take Nadal ALL of clay season just to get back to a top level to where he would be a major contender again for grass season or hardcourt season.

Hes ahead of schedule of where I figured his level would be at this point.

And if he can demolish Ferrer on clay (who's better on clay then Murray is), he should have NO problem dusting off Murray on clay who's average at best on that surface

This thread will be fun to re-visit at the conclusion of R G:smile:
Fun for Djokovic fans, that is.

nadal is winning roland garros again, fools......i caution you to not rest too many hopes and be prepared for the inevitable......

fit nadal and best of 5 sets on clay = end of story......djokovic is not physically or mentally good enough for a 7 hour fight in the sun on red clay......that's why he will lose 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 or something like that.......book it.......i have not seen nadal play this well since 2010.......that old backhand is back.......a shot which neutralizes everything that nole tries from either wing.......

Let me look into my crystal ball and tell you what will happen (and this is backed by history for about 90% of his career loses):

A. Nadal wins FO.
B. Nadal loses FO and post match claims he is injured therefore immediately casting doubt and reducing prestige on whoever won it.

yeah like he claimed to have been injured after wimbledon final '11, us final '11 and AO final '11......clown......

but anyway option A will happen......

Really depends where Nadal is.

If Nadal is at his best he will win. Dont think Djokovic has hit the heights of 2011.

He said 90%. He never said ALL. And he didn't make the AO Final in 2011. In fact he was "injured" and lost to weakling Ferrer in the QF's ;)

yeah big difference between 90% and 100%.......thanks for letting me know that.......NOT......

and if by "injured" you mean you don't think he was injured in '11 AO quarters, you fall under casual followers of the sport.......everyone who watched that match knows that he pulled a muscle in his right thigh in the fourth game(2-2 in the first set) and did not retire just because he thought ferrer deserved to WIN......

OP, you are going to feel really dumb when RG rolls around and Nadal loses. He has no shot at beating Cvac right now anywhere on any surface.

Start da game has a point: Nadal's backhand does look a lot better than it has in several years. He must have spent a lot of time working on it during his break.

hitting tons of balls on clay tunes his clay game just about perfect.......he finally got his backhand back after losing it in early 2011.......his normal backhand is planting his front foot forward and striking it deep down-the-line or cross-court with high percentages.......that shot which was not to be seen in the last coupe of years finally seems to be back.......

there are really no answers to his clay game once he gets that backhand going.......there is always his reliable great forehand which never left him in his career.......

djokovic can come up with a performance which is doubly stellar compared to 2011 and he will still ending up winning max one set.......

nadal is looking ominous.......8 months off the tour has recharged him great for another two years.......

7, 8...soon, lets round it at 12 months...

Anyway, there has been a lot of calculations at IW, early in the season...
Lets see what happens deeper in the season...

Your jinxing powers are proven to be quite accurate Clarky21. The only time you failed was when Rafa lost to Zeballos :D

Have to admit it's going to be tough for anyone to stop Nadal! But you can never count out Novak!!

Also let's not forget the man that has pushed Rafa closest in any of his victories at RG

Too bad he can not beat 7 Clay Courter in a row.

whatever helps you sleep at night..

I don't sleep at night and sunlight would kill me. I celebrated my 30th birthday in October 1066 in a place called Hastings. The last thing I remember from that day was waking up in the battlefield surrounded by the corpses of my invading brothers....and the taste of blood on my lips. I am still looking for the individual responsible for my resurrection.

Congrats on your man's return! I was admittedly very happy when he took the title yesterday. He celebrated like it was his first major. Glad he's back.

Thanks, I certainly wasn't expecting him to win at the beginning of the tournament. He deserved a good HC title like this.

told you all how ominous nadal was looking already.......i din't need to wait till IW to confirm this.......i have not seen nadal hit his backhand this well and move this well after us open 2010.......he is fresh, recharged and looks good to go on a rampage for two years.......

he is very hard to stop when his game is ON and his fitness is ON as well.......novak, murray and fed fans can forget roland garros 2013 and roland garros 2014.......good luck in 2015.......
