@Nostradamus
Does Sloane have one of the biggest forehands when she decides to unleash it? I know most of the time she plays it safe but it’s a sight to behold when she goes for it.

Sure it’s a big Fh, but it’s not one that I’d emulate. Her takeback can very extreme. Could be problematic on fast/deep balls, esp on faster surfaces. However, Sloane did win US Open despite this potential problem.

So what are the chances of Simona winning the Wimbledon ?? will she even play it ? she will be the favorite since she is #1 ... but sharapova will be hungry for another Wimbledon title. no one else can threaten her. Serena is too out of shape and Sloan hates grass.
She will definitely play it. There might be 7/8 players more favored than her.

She will probably lose before QF.
Sharapova will probably lose before semis.

Even an unseeded player can threaten her at Wimbledon.

why ? Shazza has the best game for Grass. way Serena and Venus is right now, Maria would beat them if she ran into them. Mugu is defending champ but she never defends her slam title. and Kvitova is Not the same player now.

Just because Muguruza hasn't defended her titles, doesn't mean she can't now.

Kvitova has won a title 4 years ago, won Madrid and she can be unbeatable when she is on.

I would take combined any new player winning Wimbledon more odds than Sharapova winning Wimbledon. She is old. She hasn't won any big tournament after returning. She has 1 title that was 14 years ago, so she is not really favorite in any sense.

Why didn't Sloan call the MTO when in 2nd set she was getting tired and match was starting to slip away from her ??

You mean fake a MTO? You can't call one for cramps etc.

She said something else that she didn't change her game when Simona did, but she wasn't telling the truth imho. Navratilova indicated that it was the physical fitness of Simona, or the lack there off from Sloane ("who didn't put her legs into the shots anymore, saving herself for the next shot, except that she made errors that way. Simona on the other hand knew that should could run all day": http://www.prosport.ro/alte-sportur...-paris-ce-crede-fostul-lider-mondial-17248754)

Kvitova is not the same player. Mugu seems like she is bored with tennis in semis against Simona

yea like fake MTO. Ohhh,, ouch,, my Achilles tendon is killing me,, I think I tore it......I need the Trainer right now.............and she can get like 10 minute rest.

even Ian Tiriac took off his sunglasses 3-0 in 3rd set with Simona leading..... you know who he was cheering for. and I saw Simona talking with Tiriac during men's semifinals..... what was that all about ? Is Tiriac trying to steal her away and become her agent ?

All Romanians stick together?

Yes but Sloane is also a GS champion and she seems to respect her opponents, so she wouldn't that. Besides for what? A couple of millions and one more title? She figures that:

a) She'd get those in the future
b) It wasn't worth it.
c) It might not have helped anyhow, considering that the long break after set 2 didn't help much either.

Basically I think that she got class and like most pros, wouldn't fake an injury.

There is no such thing as respect in tennis. it is eat or be eaten. Novak would call MTO in a heartbeat on Rafa if he needed to. " Ohhhhh,, my gluten allegy is acting up,,,, I need some anti-gluten tablets and a message right now,, I need a trainer "......

Didn't get a chance to read everyone's comments, but what were your thoughts about how Sloane handled the pressure? Midway thru that second set, when Halep was making her comeback Sloane had that confused deer in the headlights look. Halep looked calm and relaxed...both of which continued on into the third.Pulling for Sloane. Happy for Halep and Cahill.

Not good-she has lost a lot of weight which is good, but could still lose another half a stone or so. But really she needs to work on her endurance, she needs to be jogging a lot etc rather than focusing on power which her genetics have already gifted her. She also needs to look at the top players like Serena, Maria, Nadal, Fed etc to try to emulate the never give up champions mentality, rather than just throwing in the towel like she did yesterday.

I would love to know Sloanes sw. Sure it is pretty high, and higher than Haleps. Halep stopped hitting all out with Sloane redirecting back to her. Halep started playing a bit more within herself, and Sloane did not have an answer.

She has good anticipation, but she has **** poor footwork and waits for the ball to come to her. She also needs to be more aggressive in general. So many moon ball points she could have unloaded, but she was content to just keep the rally going to her detriment. Her first serve should have been better today too. Sloane screwed the pooch by being too passive in the second -it’s like she decided to go on autopilot. She needs more fight in her. I remember when Anacone coached her- he implied she was lazy after their relationship ended. I don’t know about that, but she could use an infusion of rage once in awhile. She lacks urgency.

Somehow I did not think her footwork is particularly bad. She looks tad casual and lazy but actually seems to be sneaky quick.
I think she can be fast if she wants.
I do agree she looks so casual and no urgency but who know what's inside her mind.
She is from affluent family or something?

I guarantee 25mins of highlights of that final can’t match these

It seems to me, that in your clip, Steffi and Martina weren't hitting as hard as today's players, especially not with those sliced backhands...

The court might be different as well: faster and smaller?
