Bad call but Alcaraz likely wins this match anyway, he was the better player the majority of the last two sets and Zverev was feeling the pain. Not a scam but I'm sure that will be the TTW narrative even though Zverev only won 3 games in the last 2 sets.

I'm really tired of the Big 3 nostalgia.

Yes, I love Nadal, Djokovic and Federer. Yes, they are the GOATs. Yes, they played INCREDIBLE matches. But not every one of them was epic and amazing. Many big 3 finals were much worse than today's.

Meh idk. This match frankly shouldn’t have gone to 5 sets. I thought carlitos was better than zverev after that second set by a mile. Alcaraz can still work on that serve and holding consistently.

Not worried about scandal he is a great guy but i worry about his taking liberties. Today should have been straight sets had he not clowned around after 1st set

Again, yeah I agree, but I can't deny I love watching him enjoy his shot making as much as anyone and there is some upside to pushing himself. What is considered a trick shot and amazing can quickly become a standard shot the more you do it.

I was ready to move on from them the moment I saw Carlos lift the US Open trophy.

Too bad boring tennis won. But doesn’t matter, Zed proved he is Slam winning material. Will win Wimbledon then or the USO. The meltdown of certain haters will happen at some point.
One have to give it to Raz. Even with historically weak competition, three slams at his age is amazing. The first ATG other than the big three in almost 20 years is in the making.
With that volley?
You must be kidding me!

I think Z strategically tanked that, to serve first in the 5th set. something about that game felt tank-y once he got to deuce.

Serving first in the 5th will be huge advantage for Z. He knows he is the better player, he believes.

Both men have tons of mileage on their legs. This will be an absolute battle.
Imagine tanking the 4th Set, when your opponent is 10-1 in 5-setters :-D
Alcaraz is 10-1 in 5-setters, so Alcaraz in 5 is the safest bet.
Alcaraz 11-1 in 5-setters now.
Alcaraz 52 winners, 56 unforced errors, 45 forced errors
Zverev 38 winners, 41 unforced errors, 60 forced errors

Right. People are acting like it was match point or something. It was to get back on serve and the score was 15-40. Bad, but hardly a dealbreaker.

What an absolute joke. The vicious, jealous comments in here about Carlos are comedy gold. He's "lucky, he's a mug, he plays garbage tennis...."

News for you, turkey: Zedrot has the one-dimensional, boring-as-hell game. He has no net game, no drop shot, he has about as much variety as a backboard. He absolutely deserved to lose against a kid with an arsenal that is rich in quality and variety. The people who can't see it have an agenda or are blind clowns.
If you don't think this was winning ugly from Carlos then I don't think we were watching the same match.

He only managed to kick it up a notch in the last 10-20 minutes of the match where he started licking every line.

Boring tennis? I mean de gustibus and all but Alcaraz hit winners from all over the court. More groundstroke winners, more volley winners, more lob winners, more passing shot winners. The highlight reel points just come flowing from his racquet.

His volley is a joke. But you don’t really need a great net game today to win Wimbledon. We are not in the 80s/90s anymore unfortunately.
If he couldn't achieve it at RG, he won't do it at Wimbledon.
His only chances of achieving the impossible will be on the hard courts.

Well tastes are different. I simply cannot get excited over Raz and Sinner. But ofc he deserved the win and is on his way to become an ATG or even more. 3 slams at age 21 is amazing.

lol the impossible. He was close today, got to five sets and also was close to in USO 2020. I would still be surprised if he never wins a slam.

Now that it's all over I can look back on today as the best case scenario. Only thing better would've been Zverev somehow blowing match points.

Another Zverev collapse is more satisfying than if Alcaraz had stomped in 3 like I wanted.
I fully agree  . ABZ forever!

It's hard to believe the last two sets were 61 62.

It felt like Carlos could lose the match at any time.

GG Alcaraz. It was an ugly matc, but beating Sinner and Zverev both from 2 sets to 1 down is no easy feat.

On to SW18!
