I was upset when Thiem won over him...

That was a forgettable day. Beta tennis from both of them in crucial moments. But in the long-run it wasn't the worst thing for Zverev to lose that final. He's become tougher and better in crunch situations. Meanwhile Thiem's career at the top of the game pretty much ended a few months after that triumph.

Yes, yes they were

You ever check the career stats and compare them? It's pretty eye opening when you really look at the numbers. A good chunk of the current top 10 are (on paper at least) better than the rest of the top 10 during the Big 4 era. Again, I am very much taking into account that the Big 4 themselves were the barrier most of the time but yeah. Zverev especially, if he does win this match and the final, He would leap-frog a LOT of other players historically in the stats.

Zverev is the one exception. He has the stats of a Slam winner (without the Slam), so he better win at least 1. No more Big 4 excuse

Zverev sure not Tsitsipas or Ruud

Thiem played better vs Djokovic at AO but ironically won a slam in funny circumstances at uso ..true both player like betas....Nadal missed that slam ? Why was that ? I don't remember him injured.... was that due to covid ?

Yes his level in the AO was fantastic
I think with Nadal it was a precautionary withdrawal - due to "Covid-related safety concerns" and of course to prioritise upcoming Rome / RG.

Ruud was half asleep while waiting to play watching Alcaraz-Sinner. I thought that was odd, obviously we now know why. He was going to lose anyway once it got cold as the ball wouldnt be taking his spin.

I just hope whatever Ruud has doesn't get passed to Zverev when they shake hands at the net. Need him fit and ready for the final. (Assuming he sees this match out)
let's hope ruud gives him a big kiss

do it for tennis casper

Right. .. I guess bull could have won that given what happened ....prob bad choice

True... but no way of predicting that Karen would freak out and engineer a default of the World #1. Given that he won RG in dominant fashion his decision is vindicated

I really think if Zverev can bring this level Sunday he's finally gonna get over the hump. Ultimately, I think Carlos finds a way because the gap in mental is enormous but this is the second consecutive GS where I think Z has brought the best form to the tournament. If that keeps happening his mental can only slow him down so much.
