chokersinner won't recover for Wimbledon. Coria only had 2MP's in RG2004 as well as federer in 2019Wimbledon F. Alcaraz can choke once (serving at 5-4 in the 5th set today or versus djokovic in 3rd set of Wim2024) but can't choke twice and won the tie-break like in shanghai 2024 or like Djokovic won them in last year olympics or like in the Wimbledon2019 final.

Biggest choke ever in my opinion. Sinner will surely lose his number 1 ranking at the end of the year. Sinner mentally and especially physically will never be like djokovic. He will never be like djokovic on grass and clay and the djokovic hater of panatta who infamously said sinner is going to retire djokovic will have to eat his hat. Alcaraz is gonna retire Sinnner. Not sure they will be a real rivalry. It's gonna be worse thant the "rivalry" between Nadal and Federer

What a tedious speech.
He snatched it from right under your nose. You worked for 5 hours to get nothing, man.
Tell him you hate him. : - )

Be honest
Did Sinner choke?
In the last 2 sets, he got his first serve percentage up, his winner/error ratio into the positive. The other guy just got better too. Anyone reducing what just happened to a choke is as thick as two short planks, doesn't know what the funk they are talking about, and you should never take anything they say seriously again. Let's see them go out there for 5 and a half hours and play like these guys were playing at the end. Sabalenka yesterday, that was a choke. Sinner had his misses, sure, so does everyone.

Doesn't help that "choke" is used so broadly now as to lose any substantive meaning. If a player does ANYTHING wrong or tight and misses on any point that has any meaning, it's an "epic choke" - not just the normal game of tennis where human players might miss when it matters. If a player had a lead and then doesn't - "epic choke." A true "epic choke" IMO, would have been Sinner losing his opportunity in the third and then being so despondent/anxious/unnerved that he couldn't perform at decent level the rest of the match. But, as we saw, he performed admirably.

My impression is that this match wasn't choked away, but i keep hearing it was a choke.

oh please, Stop with rubbish.
Sinner came from a break down in the 1st set. broke back when Alcaraz was serving for the match in the 5th set.

this is absolutely not even close to 2020 USO final or Med's AO chokes.
Absolutely. Boggles my mind on how this compares to the UsOpen 2020. They are not even in the same universe in terms of quality.

Rome + FO curse broken today?
This year is the first time that a player has won Rome and the French Open in the same calendar year since Nadal in 2019. It's the first time that the winner and runner-up at both Rome and the French Open have been the same since 2012 when Nadal beat Djokovic in both finals. In between, Djokovic beat Nadal in the Rome final of 2014, but the opposite result happened at that year's French Open. Also, in 2016, Djokovic and Murray met in the finals of Madrid (Djokovic won), Rome (Murray won) and French Open (Djokovic won).

At the end of the fourth/begining of the fifth, he was definitely rattled. But that is the nature of sport. I hate classic matches being reduced down into player x choked.

@Incognito congrats, didn’t I say it’s a good news for you after one and half set that Carlos is starting to play like a mad man.
Thanks. Yeah, but this match proved to me that Carlos should fear Jannik in the future. I mean Carlos had to channel his inner 2006 Federer on grass in that tiebreaker in the 5th. They bring out the best out of each other everytime they play. I doubted Carlos there even during 5-0 in the tiebreak. That’s how good Jannik was.

Jannik Sinner made two unforced errors in the first two championship points. He almost expected to be better. 3rd point was neutral

And that 30-30 point at 5-6 in 5th set. How alacaraz could retrieve that return. Else it becomes next championship point

Phenomenal match. it's a damn shame one player had to lose. You can't say Sinner choked that. With all the momentum against him in the fifth, he broke back and nearly won it.
A truly amazing match! I can't wait to see Wimbledon.

Sure, but it's not like he gave up the set or the early break on unnatural errors clearly influenced by nerves. Alcaraz very obviously upped his level too.

I think they both have healthy respect and "fear" for each other.

The people who you hear it from will talk about mugs and weak eras, and I am here to tell you that they are the mugs, and tennis discourse has never been in a weaker era.

Tennis has its new Big 2 era, tennis discourse has its Dipshi* era.
2012 was peak banter era.

Maybe a choke to close it out early for Jannik but Simner raised his level and played so well in the latter part of the 5th….Carlos just went nuclear for about four minutes when it looked like he was going to get broken at 5-6, 15-30 in the fifth.

The response to Sinner's vicious level was absurd. Sinner took it to 10 and then Alcaraz redefined the scale.
