Absolutely deserving of a thread.
I have no clue who wins this. But I will be happy with either result.
First slam meeting between the two best players on tour for the first time since the US Open in 2022!
8-4 head to head for Swiatek.
Swiatek won their last few clay matches in both the Rome and Madrid final last year.
They've played on clay 5 times with Iga winning 4 of them.
They've played a slam once, 2022 US Open which Iga won in 3.
But for Sabalenka, she won their last match which was the Cincinnati SF last year and she won it in straights 6-3 6-3.
I don't know! Is there an option to change? You need to vote, you have been praying for this match!![]()

I need sleep and will vote in the morning.
I think i'm going Sabalenka. But will need to really study.
Here we go! This match deserves a thread.
Certainly feels that way. We'll see if Iga can disrupt her somehow.I'm going for Sabalenka, I think it is her time.
Moment of truth, if Swiatek plays at her best, neither Sabalenka nor Gauff will be able to stop the Polish player, who is looking for something unprecedented in women's tennis in the open era: Winning the Roland Garros title four times in a row. Here we go! This match deserves a thread.

The same goes for Swiatek. If she wins over Sabalenka and then in the final, she will have 4 RG titles in a row, which is an ATG feat. With 6 GS titles, she will be just a short distance away from entering the ATG category (for women, I have a enter limit of 7 GS titles).Maybe a huge stretch. But I feel like if Sabalenka wins this and the final she'll become an ATG. Feels like this tournament could be pivotal in some ways.
I believe I called this the match of the year on either Tour earlier this week. I stand by it. Huge, huge stakes. Certainly the toughest opponent either would have faced at Roland Garros in their careers. The #1 vs the 4x champ, neither in amazing form, but both in good enough form. Currently 5-3 in Slams to Iga, with the winner a big favourite in the Final. This is a momentous occasion and will be one of the defining matches of the era. WTA is on a heater right now.
Can’t wait.
Hopefully Aryna. A new FO champion would be great.
She did serve for the match and had a match point against Madi Keys in that Australian Open Semi though. If Sabalenka doesn't choke in epic proportions like Rybakina, she is the clear favorite here. She has the game, the power, the mental to overpower this weakened version of Swiatek on clay. The Polish seems to have a problem with semifinals since RG last year. She lost in the Semis of Olympics, Cincinnati, US Open, Australian Open, Doha, Dubaï, Indian Wells and Madrid.

I mean its 5-3 at the moment, hardly a massive gap. Plus there are 2 hardcourt slams a year vs one RG. Wimbledon also is a potential advantage for Sabalenka in the slam race as Swiatek has never really done anything over there.Man, is this a a tough one to call. But I don’t do ties. So I will make a pick.
I think that Swiatek will find her form to win a barn burner. Swiatek wins 4-6, 7-6, 7-5.
That said, this is a massive match. This is very interesting. Sabalenka has momentum on her side with the #1 ranking. But she’s going against the Queen of Clay. Sabalenka needs this win, in order to keep the slam race competitive.
It's kinda of giving a small amount of Vondrousova winning Wimbledon 2023 or Raducanu winning US Open 2021 or even Bartoli winning Wimbledon 2013. Where the runner up did all the hard work to get there while the others cruised to the QF's and wins.It would be funny if the winner went on to lose in the final against Gauff.
She has beaten Iga on clay quite comprehensively this year, and is known to have beaten Sabalenka in a Slam final.
That Bartoli win, or should I say Lisicki mother-of-all-chokes, still hurts after all these years.I fear Sabalenka/Iga may tired eachother out and Iga's already had to play Rybakina and Svitolina and now Sabalenka just to make the final!
Tough is an understatement. Likely road is Gauff and Andreeva. The most WTA thing would be the winner of this losing to Keys in the final
Keys bagging the first two slams of the season would be one of the most unexpected things ever. Madison has a tough road before the final though but...
Haha I edited my post but you must have already hit quote so i've popped it back in.That Bartoli win, or should I say Lisicki mother-of-all-chokes, still hurts after all these years.
Betting markets seem to have flipped a bit. I am seeing Sabalenka -135 and Iga +110 or so.A very important match when one day we try and decide who was the better of these two players. Bookies can't call it
Sabakenka - 10/11
Swiatek - 10/11
My gut’s telling me it’s Sabalenka’s time for some reason
I would be very disappointed if Iga wins.
