Iga played possibly the worst set of her career there, and Aryna one of her best. All the bad habits came roaring back… the dropped head, complete lack of belief on serve, rushing to be aggressive in fear of Sabalenka’s power. It was Ostapenko 2.0 for Iga.

And for Aryna, a remarkably composed finish, used every tool at her ample disposal.

What a moment. One of the most one sided deciding sets I can ever remember as a tennis fan

If Sabalenka could keep her nerves under control the way she did in final set today she would have already 4-6 more slams and many more titles than she has. She has so many big weapons and can basically outpower over 90% of the ladies tour. However, as we saw at times in first 2 sets today she can be so mentally fragile under pressure sometimes.

Sabalenka can blow any woman off the court if she keeps her head right. The 2023 US Open and 2025 AO finals were two in particular that she fumbled. She's basically like prime Serena now the last few years, she has more power than anybody else by a significant margin and the fate of matches are completely on her racquet.
Most consistent big hitter. Ostapenko, Keys, etc hit just as hard but all the work they put into her biomechanics has paid off so much the last couple years

Swiatek’s A-game is still good enough to take down anyone. But if she’s even slightly off, she’s vulnerable to getting steamrolled by just about anyone. There’s no buffer anymore. Her floor and ceiling feel way too close together, a sharp drop from the dominance she showed not that long ago.

I said it before the season even started: the drug suspension, combined with the fact she’s not exactly beloved in the locker room, signaled that her best days might already be behind her. The mental scarring runs deep and it’s showing.

Sabalenka was launching cannons the entire set and she didn’t have a single UE while doing it. Sabalenka was unplayable that set. But nobody bagels Swiatek at RG, unless she’s playing her worst tennis. The perfect storm hit for that lobsided 3rd set.
Well, if Sabalenka does what Sabalenka can do than there is very little Iga can do in response. Especially in these conditions where she can’t get the help from the high bounce to make things awkward for her opponent.

I actually feel bad for Iga when she loses like this, she inspires some sympathy. Clearly something is not right behind closed doors.

I feel nothing for Clostebol. Nothing at all.
She does come across as a thoroughly unpleasant individual, not to mention a rather unsportsmanlike one to boot.
I cannot stand the quivering whimper in post match pressers, the hand up on return to delay the server. Sabalenka is her antithesis in every way. Thank god she won

24-6 in points that 3rd set.....just became a tsunami after the 3rd game.

Also just a reminder if Swiatek wins this whole thing she’ll have to have gone through Rybakina, Svitolina, Sabalenka and then Gauff (or Boisson).

To be the first woman in the open era to win 4 consecutive French Opens. Not done by Graf or Court or Seles or Serena or Henin.

Credit where credit is possibly due to the 24 year old.
I sincerely hope she does not.

Good lord what have I missed? I wonder what kind of money one would have got for a bagle of Iga and I don't even bet...

It's not gonna happen but Aryna and Djokovic both winning the title this weekend would make this RG one of the best and most memorable GS tournaments ever for me. Now that really would be epic AF.

Why isn't it going to happen? I feel it's the most likely thing to happen
