Novak learned yet again today that when he plays aggressively stepping in on returns and hitting his FH with more pace as he started doing in the fourth set, no one can match him - just like last year. This is the first time this year he had the level of ball bashing he did last year. Hope he has the legs to keep doing it for the rest of this tournament as we can expect some high-quality entertainment then.

People well some people outright detest Djokovic and I don't get it within the tennis perspective. (Note tennis perspective)

He's earnt his stripes and the respect of anyone who appreciates what it takes to win in tennis, I used to find him so annoying and fake, "please love me" it grated on me, now he has a mature, grounded and real demeanor. You get more respect when you're real.

More people have come to terms with Djokovic's accomplishments in his career, I think many didn't because he was for years in the shadow of Federer and Nadal who are more popular and more marketable than Djokovic.

I will miss him when he retires, that's why like Nadal, I make it a mission to watch their matches live.

Do you see Novak advancing to the final?
No it is unlikely as Novak is human and that match, and the late finish plus the cold will take its toll. Cerundulo has a great chance, but even if he loses he is likely to make it physical and by the time Novak makes the QF one would think he will be spent against Ruud.
However, on the form Novak showed tonight, he should win wimbledon with ease in all honesty.

Is this Musetti just a complete mental midget? It seems he always gets into these matches where it starts competitive and ends with him taking a complete beating.

Let's see. People were saying the same after the Djere 3rd round in NY. He recovered very fast. If he wins in straight against Cerundolo, he'll be fine against Ruud/Fritz. If he needs 5 sets again then yeah, it's over.

The young Musetti cannot match the resistance of the 37-year-old wolf in best-of-five-set matches.

It seems like Musetti just couldn’t execute the final shot needed at pressure points in the last two sets. He went for too much and missed. That is starting to become a signature style for him.

Djoker choked that guy out like an MMA submission artist. That’s what Djoker can do. His precision of ground strokes and court positioning will eventually run a guy out of rope. And it’s all calculated as well. He’s an incredibly intelligent tactician on the court.

What an amazing comeback and demonstration of mental strength from Djokovic. The undisputed GOAT!

Musetti with the way he was playing today would've beaten anyone including Nadal on Chatrier.

A case of one man having ridiculous reserves (for his age) and another just not having what it takes in 5 set play, despite great talent.

I think the length of this match will come back to haunt Djokovic next week though.

Cerundolo, Ruud, probably Zverev, Sinner/Alcaraz, against a worn-out old wolf.
How much energy will he have left?
:sneaky:

So what happened in this match? I could not watch. People here are saying Novak was playing great, but why 5 sets then?

How much do you really care?

Because Novak has had trouble with musetti even in 2021.
Not that much, tbh. Seems like easy last two sets. And Novak is a slow starter. I am a fan, everyone here knows that, but lately I just have no time for his "another coach," "another lifestyle change" BS.

At last Peacock is only $5.99. If it were only on TC, you'd have to get TC+ for a year ($100+) or a month of Fubo or some other subscription TV service that has TC for at least $70 (though sometimes there's free trials or discounts)
They could always put it on NBC -- you know, for free. It's not like the network had a star-studded lineup last night during prime time. This is part of a long-term push by the broadcast networks trying to essentially privatize and monetize content that routinely used to air free and clear over the air. ATSC 3 (the new broadcast standard the networks are pushing hard) is similar, with the way it encrypts the public airwaves. They want you to download their encryption key so they can harvest data about you and translate it into some sweet sweet $$$$

He can change 10 coaches and I wouldn't have a problem. I am also his fan.

Focusing on his tennis and not coaches.
