Roland Garros moved to September - not a drill

Latest quotes of Wimbledon officials suggest that the tournament will either be played with crowds in July or won’t take place at all. I guess this means no Wimbledon this year.

Grass not a real suffrace, no?

Im ok with just getting the FO and USO lol.
The key is Rafa NOT practicing himself into the ground in the week off but of course he's going to.

Also how will the weather conditions be like? Will it be chilly? Rafas topspin will already take a hit with the new balls and roof and now we have the weather change as well. Add in fatigue from US Open and its mission impossible.

Someone has to win. Why not Rafa? Djokovic and Thiem will be asked to do the same thing.

This is wild, moving from a HC Slam to clay in a span of seven days. At least they won't be getting cancelled though. Gonna be weird watching three slams back to back to back lol.

It's good and bad. As a fan it's going to be exciting having 2 huge tournaments so close with barely a week to talk about who won the US Open, but they are also Rafa's 2 best slams and he slays on center court on both..... hard to see him being fit by the time the FO final rolls around.... all depends on the draws.

Now that RG will most likely take place this year, I am actually positive about consequences for Rafa after the dust settles. Who’s the absolute King of comebacks after long breaks? :sneaky:

He better rest now! Lol

It's going to be very tough. Rafa would no doubt prefer to play RG first. If he lays it all on the line in New York who knows if he'll be himself at RG.

Tough ask, that’s for sure. But who knows what the tour state will be after what, a 4 months break at least? Maybe everyone except Big2 will forget how to play by the time USO starts, lol.

Historically France is both warmer and dryer in September than May.

Surely decisions like this consult all parties - the ITF, ATP, WTA, player council etc?
1 week between the US Open and FO is intense! I suppose not having IW and Miami back to back this year, and missing many other tournaments, it's been deemed that the players will be fresh enough to cope with it as they shouldn't have so many niggles as if they'd just played a full season. They have a long time to get their strength, conditioning, technique etc sorted by then and still hit a lot of balls.
I'm curious as to how Wimbledon and potentially the Olympics will pan out. I suppose no one can truly predict those now, but hopefully they are played. I just can't imagine a season where you have 3 of the year's majors so packed together, plus the potential of the Olympics and then the rest of the season is just the Asian swing/European indoors and year end finals.

It won't be in the UK at this rate. They have been handling it disastrously poorly.
Agreed - I'm in the UK. I think Wimbledon is in real danger of not going ahead at this rate. I'm sure all majors are looking at contingency plans and areas in the calendar where they can rearrange tournaments for, but London is the most temperamental major location weather wise, so they really don't have a lot to work with.

The Laver Cup is an ATP sanctioned event scheduled from the 25th to 27th of September in Boston, MA that is mostly sold out.

Make no mistake, there is a war going on between the ITF and ATP.

This is so stupid. There would only be two weeks between the US Open and French Open. That's the dumbest thing they could have done. And that's "IF" the virus miraculously disappears by then. I think everyone is just getting way too ahead of themselves anymore. Bottom line is this... NO ONE REALLY KNOWS ANYTHING AT THIS POINT.

Man these empty Raw and Smackdowns have been hard to watch, imagine Mania without the pops.

And this is the best card they have had in years, I was stoked for it. Mania isn't mania in a little closet with no fans.
There's rumors it may be postponed till June in MSG. Hopefully someone talks some sense into Vince bc it will be a tragedy in the Performance Center.

They only have a roof over one court... Is the weather in Paris late September to early October better than it is in May-June? :-D
I don’t think the weather fluctuates that greatly year-round in Paris. This isn’t Canada where it can be 20 degrees one day and -20 the next lol

Edge vs Orton with no fans...please no. Drew as well, no fans will just kill the vibe completely.

I sincerely hope they aren't that stupid. I would literally rather there not be a Wrestlemania than have it at the PC. The only positive that would possibly come out of it for me is I live 15 mins from the PC so I would try to catch them arriving and leaving lol but seriously... no fans, no Mania.

Nadal was close to defeat Novak on indoor grass at WB 2018, so imagine on indoor clay. He will be fine with or without roof.

I never mentioned Novak.

Nadal's form at Wimbledon 2018 was top notch, adjusted for the surface factor, he may have reached a higher level than at RG2018.

But he was never fond of indoor tennis. That, and the small fact that his form always takes a dip post USO.

Mania is like 90% atmosphere. Imagine the Undertaken doing his entrance in the PC :X3:
