This is a litmus test moment for Alcaraz. Win this and i think he goes on to the win the event. However, his last round concerned me, and as its at night and probably with the roof closed i think he could be in trouble here, i thought he would have insisted this be a day match.
Alcaraz in 5 ill go for as i did pick him to win the event

I can't imagine Sebi giving Carlos that much trouble unless he serves at 80% and gets speedier than I've ever seen him. Carlos has way too much game and too many options for Korda. Sebi would have to play at an impeccable level for 3+ hours. I don't see him doing that. Carlos is my pick for the title too, sure hope he does it.

I am not sure that he will reach level for title, but I am really hoping for that.

You have cheered me up as being honest i have butterflies about this match. I hope you are right. Tennis needs Carlos at his best so badly. He is the natural heir to Federer as he will attract new fans he is so exciting to watch.

We thought novak was not getting past 3rd round with this form, but he upped his level yesterday... So maybe alcaraz would up his form too, hopefully not

But since when has tennis been realistic? Again using novak as an example, he was at a bad level in first round, but upped it in second, carlos has been at a bad level for first and second, but we never know... fingers crossed we see a five setter

I'd want Carlos to win as easily as possible tbh, as he'd need all the gas in his tank for the draw full of landmines ahead. But realistically I don't see him get past Korda at this stage; ofcourse tennis can surprise us in unimaginable ways, but I'm pessimistic about the Spaniard's chances here.

He isn't, but he's beaten Carlos on clay before and it was an in-form version of Carlos who was on a hot streak back then.

Additionally, night conditions render the court into an indoor HC, which is obviously much more beneficial to Korda who is the better server of the two and has flatter strokes.

Lastly, Alcaraz's arm injury prevents him from unloading his full potential on his FH wing & he has been struggling for form since the last 11 months except for those 2 weeks in Indian Wells earlier this year.

11 months? Alcaraz only started to struggle since cincinnati final against djokovic...

Respect to that match though
 
It won't be first time when you need just match like this to win title.

He played badly first set vs Arnaldi in IW this year and after that set really destroyed tour.

Alcaraz lost his form after that Wimbledon final. In Canada & Cincy, he was going 3 against every Tom, Dick & Harry. In the final, even when he was ahead, his game was full of errors and stupid choices of shots.

@messiahrobins Sebi is clearly the inferior player to Carlos in every area except serve. He's also choked against many lesser players. Obviously Carlos could get injured or come out flat, but that's unlikely. Alcaraz has variety and is by far the better clay player.

Carlos is the big favorite, so relax. :)

Ah, here’s to hoping Sebi plays an exceptional match. I don’t have much hope, but I do think you’ve overestimated the physical gap between them. The mental gap, on the other hand…
